In addition to the bike and walking paths that pass through this park, it gets used for winter sports like snowshoeing and cross country skiing. There's tennis courts, too. No playgrounds that I can tell, but that makes it an ideal place to observe wildlife or have a quiet picnic. I've been in the area so many times without realizing this was here. Lots of benches, some with shade, some without. There's a pond for fishing. Just a lovely jewel in the suburbs near the university. Makes me wish I could have a do-over because my college experience would probably be a lot nicer in a place like this.

A nice wooden bridge, Ellicott creek, a ton of planted trees , the American flag, and several wooden benches fill up this park, which reaches from North Forest to the UB campus. The best part of this walk, though, was when it started raining and we were heading back....... amazingly, a mama and baby deer came really close to the trail, eating grass and looking up at us every once in a while. That made for a great photo opportunity! I'll be back to take a ride on my bike sometime.... P.S. be cautious of your GPS , the address lead me to the golf course, not the park. The parking lot is on North Forest Ave just a bit past Maple .

Interesting facts learned on fireflies: they like leafy dark areas, eat slugs, and snails and really lite up the park. Paved trail, not very long, perfect for quick walk or hike to explore the many trees. Family, everyone friendly.

This is such a beautiful park to enjoy a nice walk, jog, a bike ride or to go fishing (no spots to play sports of any kind here). There are a couple small grassy areas you can sit with a blanket and have a small picnic, eat lunch or bring your own lawn chair and enjoy a book. Plenty of benches to sit down, relax and enjoy the view of the water. In addition, the trees provide lots of shaded areas to appreciate as you walk through the paved trail on a hot summer day. Lastly, there are a lot of droppings from the geese (the children were stressing about avoiding it). I didn't see a playground during my walk but there is a very nice playground available for the children in front of the library that is located adjacent to the park entrance - you'll see it. I used my GPS to get here and parked at the courthouse parking lot, there was a path to where the trail starts - in my photos. Bring bug spray and sunblock in the summer and enjoy a stroll after a good meal. Rated this park four stars because I would probably only come back to take a walk if I'm already in the area but there's nothing here you absolutely have to see if you were visiting Buffalo. However, the park is beautiful and serene. If there was more to do or picnic tables for families to sit and eat, I would give it five stars.

The Tonawanda Creek Rd entrance (across from Amherst Veteran's park) has information on the park including a trail map. 2. The Sweet Home Rd entrance (at Glenhaven Dr) has a garbage can and parking spaces, but no trail map or information is posted (as of Sep. 2020). I'd recommend parking at the other lot. This park is nice if you want to take a walk in the woods and feel surrounded by nature. My only criticism is that the trail wasn't well maintained. There were huge tire tracks and flooded in some spots. Also, although it was nice to be engulfed by nature, the trails themselves aren't very scenic. Although the trail is flat, its not smooth. Fine for walkers and trail runners, but I wouldn't recommend roller blading or bringing a stroller. The park is managed by the Town of Amherst.

Besides that, there's also a nice walking path that goes through a pretty area. Decent walking today but saw spots that might be a bit muddy during wetter weather. Definitely not a hard walk though. The Buffalo Rowing Club also uses this space. The parking lot has several of the longer spaces for vehicles with trailers. Worth checking out. 2022-61

There's also a large building which I presume are public restrooms. There's some grassy area to picnic too. However it seems most people come here just to park, then ride their bike on the bike path. Part of the bike path runs along the water. There's also boat storage for the UB rowing team here. I'd recommend coming here to picnic, briefly checkout the view, or bring your bike and enjoy the bike path.

I wish I knew how nice this park was before our senior dog's mobility became too limited. It's…read moremagical, between crossing the big wooden bridge over the creek to the happy dogs frolicking through the green shady island. There's even swings and a playground for the two legged puppers. I came to add some books to the free little library. I was amazed at how clean and well kept the grounds were. Visitors really stay on top of their dogs. I didn't see a single pile. Or maybe all the dogs just become like those kids who get too caught up in playing to take a bio break.
