This is such a beautiful park to enjoy a nice walk, jog, a bike ride or to go fishing (no spots to play sports of any kind here). There are a couple small grassy areas you can sit with a blanket and have a small picnic, eat lunch or bring your own lawn chair and enjoy a book. Plenty of benches to sit down, relax and enjoy the view of the water. In addition, the trees provide lots of shaded areas to appreciate as you walk through the paved trail on a hot summer day. Lastly, there are a lot of droppings from the geese (the children were stressing about avoiding it). I didn't see a playground during my walk but there is a very nice playground available for the children in front of the library that is located adjacent to the park entrance - you'll see it. I used my GPS to get here and parked at the courthouse parking lot, there was a path to where the trail starts - in my photos. Bring bug spray and sunblock in the summer and enjoy a stroll after a good meal. Rated this park four stars because I would probably only come back to take a walk if I'm already in the area but there's nothing here you absolutely have to see if you were visiting Buffalo. However, the park is beautiful and serene. If there was more to do or picnic tables for families to sit and eat, I would give it five stars.

Interesting facts learned on fireflies: they like leafy dark areas, eat slugs, and snails and really lite up the park. Paved trail, not very long, perfect for quick walk or hike to explore the many trees. Family, everyone friendly.

It's a lovely nature preserve-style park way out in the middle of nowhere, between Lancaster and Alden, below Clarence and way above Elma. If that doesn't mean anything to you, don't worry. I live right next to this park, relatively speaking. I just drive straight down Ransom from near my house, and I'm there. It's a wonderfully convenient thing for me because the park is really great. It's pretty bleak in the winter, but in the summer it's wonderful. It's also massive... much bigger than people realize. The convenience makes me want to give it a 5, and I love coming here, but compared to my fave spots in WNY, this is more like a 4 star park. It's secluded with winding trails and wildlife and lots of people walking dogs and such. I may bring Starlight and My Son here one of these days, I need to buy some kitten harnesses first. How adorable will that be. Very solid 4 stars for a lovely place to go.

We started our bike ride on the Shoreline Trail at Niawanda Park and rode through this park. Not…read moreonly is there plenty of parking and benches, but there is a pretty gazebo and another terrace. There is one small playground between Niawanda Park and here, and another playground just a little bit past with swings. There was some sort of hot dog place, but it doesn't appear to be open. I'm not sure if there were accessible bathrooms or not. This stretch of the trail also looks updated. The lines appear freshly painted and the surface is smooth. Next time we ride along the Shoreline trail we might start here instead. It also seems a little less busy.

If you want something low-key and easy to get to this is the perfect spot. I was very pleased at how clear the sand was, perhaps they are using some kind of equipment to get the rocks and wood off the beach because unlike other freshwater beaches I didn't have an obstacle course to get to the water. The life guards were professional but not oppressive. It was a very relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. Would definitely come again if ever in the area.

I love local parks!…read more Brought my one year old here and felt she was a little too small for the playgrounds and slides but the sand box with all the trucks in it, was right up her alley. There looks like a small wading pool open in the summertime, and also love that this is right in a cute little neighborhood. No parking but folks didn't seem to mind/have trouble parking. There are swings, a small and large basketball court, some benches, picnic tables and a gazebo from what I saw. Plenty of green space to set up a picnic!

I've been waiting for the day that I didn't have to run for miles on Sweeney. It makes me kind of nervous to run so close to the road, and finally, runners and bikers alike have a place of their own. I live in the neighborhood across from the park, so I run through the neighborhood and just run across the street and bam, I'm on the path. Mayors Park is the start of the bike path which will eventually lead you to the bridge where you cross, run a quarter mile, and you're on the path to get you to the River/Niawanda Park. I also use Mayors Park as my warmup. Running to there and stretching before running any more is a great way to warm up. Plus, the park is hilly so running up and down the hills is kind of fun too. Why three stars then? Well, it can be so much better. It's such a simple park. There's a number of pavilions where people have parties and get-togethers but there's not much to actually do there, unfortunately. I'd love if there was a public garden or something that wouldn't draw that much of a crowd, but would at least be better than the eye sore it is now. Maybe new pavilions? A fun new park for the kiddos? The bike path was a start, but keep going! Also, a good place to meditate. Since it's generally empty, it's a nice place to find your calm.
