As rather new pet owners, we enjoy learning something new every time we visit a PetSmart location. We don't take our new golden doodle yet as she is still quite a bit reactive when other dogs are around. But we do look forward to the day when she can join us and pick out her own toy or treat. Today, we were only stopping by to look for a specific type of collar or martingale, and while we think we found it, we are not 100% certain if she is a small or medium size, so we'll need to come back. We also ended up walking around the store looking at other supplies and getting a sense as to what the deals and special offerings are. We also enjoy using their app and Treats Rewards loyalty program (https://www.petsmart.com/treats-rewards.html). The employees are helpful and quick to answer all of our questions. PetSmart has so much more than we initially realized. Their pet services including grooming, pet classes, hotel boarding, doggie day camp, vet care, adoptions, pharmacy, and a learning center. Featured options at the store include their outdoor shop, new pets, curbside and in-store pickup options, free same-day delivery, saving with auto-ship, fan shop, and gift cards. The Treats Rewards loyalty program is free, and you can earn and redeem points when you shop along with personalized offers. Once you've spent $500 or more, you receive a new tier, and after $1000, you receive the highest tier. Now, you can get an invitation to an annual recognition event and a holiday gift if you make it to the two higher tiers. When I first created my profile, I even received 1,000 points and could immediately use it for a few dollars off my first purchase. We certainly plan on going back soon to at least one of their locations!

This morning I went to feed my dogs their eagerly awaited breakfast meal and found a live moth worm in it. I'd purchased a 33 lb bag of Purina Pro Plan kibble about 2 weeks ago, and store it in a Simple Human sealed pet-food container--and I'm religious about keeping clean and locked tight. When I investigated further, I realized there was some mold as well. So the dogs were going bananas wanting their food and I was worried about having spent $80 on a month's worth of food that is now wormy and moldy. I called Petco and spoke with Taylor, he immediately said to come in and he'd get me a new bag in an even exchange. (PHEW!) He explained that Purina has this issue. After I got off the phone I googled it and read stories that people shared about with this exact issue. (STRESS!) I've been feeding my dogs this for years, they have had episodes of vomiting but I thought it was the heat. But this suddenly made me wonder if this has been the cause and I just haven't noticed bugs or mold before. (Note: my one dog vomited just yesterday, then today I find this). So I definitely wanted a different brand of food. At Petco, Taylor was super helpful--I research everything and have lots of questions--it didn't phase him and he was extremely patient with me. He is educated on all the food, and was able to answer all of my questions, and made it all so easy and stress-free. I went in feeling anxious that I had to deal with suddenly switching and finding a new food for my fur babies, and left feeling relieved and thrilled about the outstanding customer service. When I got to the airport, my dog was denied boarding because the carrier was too large. More recently, I bought a bag of my dog's food here. As I got toward the bottom of the bag, I found multiple small branch like objects, then realized they were moving. They were worms. I have a video and had to throw the rest of the food away. I tried calling the store twice with no answer, then emailed. Joe confirmed my purchase but never followed up. When I finally reached someone by phone, I was told I needed to bring in the worms and remaining food, even though I had already thrown it away and my video proof wasn't enough. Due to the lack of customer service, I won't be coming back.

She was so helpful in guiding us in the right direction and extremely knowledgeable about any fish related inquiries we had. What really blew us away is that she hand wrote out a step-by-step guide on how to integrate our new Beta into its new tank and a reference guide for cleaning and feeding. The wash went well, and the staff was super-helpful, equipped with towels, a choice of shampoo (or bring your own if you like), and clearly articulated instructions. The water was hot to the touch. I was told a new water heater was to blame, but if I waited a minute or two, the water would cool off and become warm, which it did. My pup was not pleased at all with the "blow-dry" setup. It is a loud shop vac with hoses extending through the drying bays. We politely aborted that part of the process. It was actually okay, since we had enough towels to get her 90% dry. I was happy with the outcome.

She gave me some samples and really took the time to understand what was going on with my pup. Since my dog is grain-free, she suggested possibly rotating between grain-free and grain-inclusive options, which I hadn't considered before. I ended up trying the chicken and rice recipe so we'll see how that goes! Overall, everyone there is always welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about helping you find the best for your pet. I can also buy my cats food brand here but have noticed they are a little pricier than other shops I've been to. Still, convenient one stop shop and service is always friendly and helpful. They also have later hours which I have taken advantage of. There are dog baked items and an extensive supply of dog and cat items and supplies! Saving the best for last here-they have a dog self wash station at the back of the store!
