I cannot say enough good things about this clinic and their team. My brother is a firefighter and rescued a cat this morning from a house fire. Another vet we spoke with said the care would cost close to $4,000 and even suggested that euthanasia might be the only realistic option. The cat was clearly in pain, but still alert and fighting. This clinic stepped in and completely changed everything. They treated him with such compassion and urgency. They performed X-rays, gave pain medication, started antibiotics, provided food, and monitored him carefully. They were honest, kind, and focused on what the cat actually needed, not on upselling fear-based care. What truly amazed us is that they comped the bill and told us that all follow-up care will be free. In a moment where we were emotionally overwhelmed and financially scared, they showed pure humanity. This was a burn victim who deserved a fighting chance, and this team gave him exactly that. I made the mistake of giving my dog (15lb schnoodle) two rib bones from the table. The next morning he was acting strangely, stretching a lot, and being even more lethargic than his usual grandpa-ish demeanor. I consulted with his vet and they referred me to an ER. By mistake I took him to the urgent care off cave creek instead of the ER down the street. Glad I did. The ER had a 2-3 hour wait and would have ended up costing us twice as much for the same services. The two gentlemen at the urgent care were very pleasant and were able to see us right away. to whom it may concern - future or current clients: I have been going to this vet clinic for 5 years. I scheduled an appointment for my boxer. I dropped my dog off this morning at 9 am for a teeth cleaning and removal of some skin tags. I was called at 1:00 and spoke with Sabrina I was informed that the one tag needed to be surgically removed and needed a biopsy. The cost went from $500 to over $1300.00. WOW! I inquired as to how I was unable to pay for the total amount could we split the cost in half? Sabrina said they had been ripped off and no they could not do a payment plan and recommended that I apply for a medical credit card. Which I did and was approved within 10 minutes. I called back and spoke with Rachel, she informed me that my conversation with Sabrina was rude and that I was told to pick up my dog. Then Rachel hung up on me!! I was not rude I have a right to inquire as to what was happening and why the cost went up $800!! Having been a customer for 5 years I was extremely disappointed by the way my inquiry was handled. I used to take my cat there but the vet tech, I believe her name is Sabrina or Vanessa, but she works with the doctor, she's odd and wasn't very helpful. I didn't get the feeling that she should be working with animals. No compassion. She told me on the first visit that she did vet rescue and spays at a discount. When I asked about it at the end of the visit she acted as if she didn't know what I was talking about. On the next visit she was awkward with lifting my cat because of her hair. She sheds when she's scared and I told her that. She was carrying on about her hair, slapping it off her body and such. I've never seen my cat shed like that but she clearly didn't want to be around her either. I like the doctors but there's something odd about her and I didn't like her demeanor around myself and my cat. read more

Our puppy dislocated her toes and was treated at Pet Urgent Care. They reset the toes, put a splint on and said to have it changed in a week. When the vet was going to be out of town when the splint was due for changing,they asked to see a photo of the splint. Since it had been kept clean, they said it would be fine to wait until the tenth day. After a week, puppy started acting sick...with loss of appetite. We took her to a different vet the following day since Dr Gilson's office was closed and shockingly discovered that a major infection had somehow set in. I texted their office and got only the response that they were closed that weekend. I tried repeatedly to contact the vet to see what might have gone awry, but he refuses to talk to me. A vet tech, Sabrina, who was not part of the original treatment, did speak with me on the phone and told me they had discussed the case and decided her toes really were fractured! I went here because my cat is having some urinary issues and it was only 3 minutes from my house. On their website it says they open at 9 but then on Google it said 10. I was waiting for an hour and they still weren't open. I called a few times but no answer. I'm sad this place didn't have their correct hours posted anywhere and I had to let my cat sit in her carrier in pain. Being an emergency vet, I would expect the correct hours to be posted on the website, on the voicemail, or even on the door. Hope this changes to prevent this happening to anyone else. read more

This was a vet I at one time highly regarded and told all my friends, family and acquaintances to go to. I used to feel and know that my pets were more important then the all mighty dollar and that I was treated with respect and not like an idiot. My last visit with my dog changed all that! Not only did they recommend a surgery that was not needed that I agreed to by being told that it was needed due to infection possibly and that the ear would not heal properly even though the incident of my dogs ear tip being bitten off by another dog had happened more then 24 hours prior. Well when I picked up my dog the ear looked only a tiny bit different with whip stitches around the tip. So hundreds of dollars later and my fat dog being put out for reason I am livid. But then of course there is the medications that they want you to buy... Another fu**ing joke!! One they wanted to charge $37.50 but at Costco it was $8.99 ... Another one the wanted to charge $70.50 and on Chewy it $27:54 ... The integrity of this place is a joke now I'm not sure what happened but I would not go and I would suggest anyone else stay away until they get their shit together and back to what matters. I felt like they drove my decision on fear and drama and for that it is about making a buck and not about loyalty or about my pets. read more

Yes, I willingly allowed myself to get scammed to save the puppy's life. I took her to pet urgent care and she was severely dehydrated and diagnosed with worms and parvo. After one day of hospitalization, my puppy came out like a brand new dog. She was so much more active, happy, etc. and In less than a week my baby girl was free of Parvo. Open on Saturdays! When normal clinics are closed on weekends, we needed to see a vet on a Saturday afternoon (doesn't it always work that way? Evenings, weekends, and holidays seem to be the norm for dogs!). We newly adopted a dog and searched for someplace open on a Saturday for a condition that suddenly arose with our dog. We feel lucky to have found this place. We scheduled a same-day appointment and without the massive expense of an emergency visit. A very caring and concerned staff welcomed us in and made the trip to this small office as stress-free for our dog as possible. We felt our vet, Dr. Gilson was highly knowledgeable and gave effective advice for care. He was well versed in breed-specific issues and offered a realistic path of care by starting with the least expensive, least invasive tests as needed to rule out potential problems. He was thorough and answered all our questions.. and we had a LOT of questions. Our 2 year old son fell on our 15 pound dog and dog could barely move and seemed to be in a lot of pain. It was a Saturday and I called several places but no appointments available for several days. I reached out to family friend who could see next morning. Called up Pet Urgent Care and they had appointment available in afternoon. Vet diagnosed neck strain and got some meds. Dr Gilson saw our 8 yr old Rhodesian Ridgeback for limping. He examined our dog and said he was 99% sure it was a ccl injury but was "too busy" to take an X-ray. We proceeded with conservative care and carprofen. When we returned home we scheduled ccl surgery with our vet clinic. Immediately upon physical examination our vet determined it was NOT a ccl injury - he took X-rays and saw the bone mass - osteosarcoma. Needless to say, Dr Gilson could not have prevented the progression of the disease but certainly could have taken 30 min to do an X-ray and the diagnostics we drove 2.5 hours to get and give us a firm diagnosis. It is too late for us and our boy, but Hopefully lessons can be learned from this. Way too casual and quick of a diagnosis. Our boy maybe has a month left with us - we are managing pain but that is all we can do. We wanted a firm diagnosis - but we did not get one from Dr Gilson. Not thorough at all. read more

The emergency vet did an x-ray and to make a long story short recommended doing a $5000 surgery or amputating the leg. I took her in to Dr Gilson for a second opinion and truly felt that he did the research prior to determine a solution, explained to me my options and stayed neutral when presenting me my options.
