Taylor saved the day today! Thank you thank you thank you... I was blown away with the superb customer service. This morning I went to feed my dogs their eagerly awaited breakfast meal and found a live moth worm in it. I'd purchased a 33 lb bag of Purina Pro Plan kibble about 2 weeks ago, and store it in a Simple Human sealed pet-food container--and I'm religious about keeping clean and locked tight. When I investigated further, I realized there was some mold as well. So the dogs were going bananas wanting their food and I was worried about having spent $80 on a month's worth of food that is now wormy and moldy. I called Petco and spoke with Taylor, he immediately said to come in and he'd get me a new bag in an even exchange. (PHEW!) He explained that Purina has this issue. After I got off the phone I googled it and read stories that people shared about with this exact issue. (STRESS!) I've been feeding my dogs this for years, they have had episodes of vomiting but I thought it was the heat. But this suddenly made me wonder if this has been the cause and I just haven't noticed bugs or mold before. (Note: my one dog vomited just yesterday, then today I find this). So I definitely wanted a different brand of food. At Petco, Taylor was super helpful--I research everything and have lots of questions--it didn't phase him and he was extremely patient with me. He is educated on all the food, and was able to answer all of my questions, and made it all so easy and stress-free. I went in feeling anxious that I had to deal with suddenly switching and finding a new food for my fur babies, and left feeling relieved and thrilled about the outstanding customer service. Th manager and only groomer said it was store policy not to cut the hair on its body, only his face and feet, wtf! I told her I made the apt for grooming. The store and grooming staff are very kind and caring. Recently, Petco corporate dropped the ball on our recurring dog food shipment. My chat experience on the website was so frustrating that I was to the point where I would not continue as a Petco customer. I am glad that I took the chance and called the store. The manager explained that while she didn't have the capability of helping with the delayed food order, she suggested calling rather than the chat option. I called and spoke with a customer service representative who came up with a solution to get food in the bowls! She contacted the store and ordered a small bag of our dog food to be set aside for pick up. Sure, you might ask how having to pick up and order wouldn't be an inconvenience. It was, but I applaud Petco for being customer service focused and acting to assist. Yes, the small bag was free of charge and my shipment came the next day. Petco is a much better option than their biggest competition because why????...because they care! read more

Another Grooming Nightmare. I should have read a previous grooming nightmare review. I had exactly the same experience. I took in my Havanese for a TRIM. I paid an additional charge for extra brushing. These are double coated long HAIR dogs. When I picked her up to my horror she had been shaved off !! She even had a shaver rash all over her neck. It was all uneven. They even shaved her ears off. Who shaves a Havanese ears off? As the previous reviewer mentioned, clearly they had no concern or common sense and took the easier route- shave - despite paying extra for brushing. Terrible. My daughter burst into tears when she saw her and has been upset ever since. Who makes a 10 year old cry? This place only works for those who want a complete and imperfect total shave job. The store itself is okay but the Vetco service is extremely frustrating. I have had multiple Vetco appointments cancelled last minute with no explanation after booking weeks ahead and without any assistance on getting another appointment scheduled. I made my last Vetco appointment three weeks in advance to get a needed vaccination for my dog for boarding. I got some generic cancellation text a few days before my appointment. At that time, all of the other upcoming Vetco appointments at neighboring locations were already booked, leaving me screwed for the boarding situation. Reliability is extremely important to me, and this place continues to let me down in that regard. read more

We've used this location for awhile for their Vetco vaccination services for our red healer. The prices are low and beyond competitive. They also make the process extremely easy and the Vetco staff that visit this store are always top notch. For over a year we have also used the grooming services at this store. We like that they have a separate entrance eliminating the process of taking your pet through the store. Our healer is an older dog with a double coat and she is not always at her best around other dogs but we have found that other pet owners are considerate of space requirements to eliminate issues. We are very pleased with the grooming services here. The prices are very reasonable and we have had excellent success with the same groomer for over a year. He did a wonderful job yesterday which included an additional treatment to remove a ton of extra fur plus trim some very long toe nails. I would highly recommend this location for grooming and vaccination needs. read more

Petco's pricing policies don't make any sense. I needed aquarium salt. Website shows 2 sizes, of different brands. Decided to get the bigger one as part of a buy 2 get 30% off promotion. When it didn't ring up correctly, the cashier informed me "That is a web-only price. Petco is trying to get people to buy on-line for pickup or delivery." Say what? So, Petco REALLY doesn't want you browsing the shelves for impulse purchases in the store?! If you want the promo price, you have to do 2 transactions - if you see something else you want when you get there. I did not have that experience at their competitor (please see my other review). Petco is closer to my home, but the price shenanigans make driving the extra distance to the other guys worth the $$$ - I just checked the price of those items & they are less at the other guys, EVERYDAY, no phony-baloney "promo" needed. read more

This is arguably the best Petco store in the Phoenix/Tempe/Scottsdale area. Today I had the pleasure of being helped by Chris and Keyah. They took time and care to meet my needs at the store, helping me with an exchange and finding a high dollar return item. At the register, both Keyah and Chris displayed great customer service and made sure we'd want to come back to this store. We left more than satisfied and excited to have a great support team behind our pets. I have been treated horribly at other petcos in the area. Namely Guadalupe and McClintock. When I'm buying hundreds of dollars worth of pet supplies I would appreciate some understanding and not stern voices of a service experience manager talking down on me about return policy. This Petco surpasses the one by my house in strides, so it makes driving 30 minutes extra worth it. read more

Went in to purchase wet food for my dog. Saw the food was on sale if 10 were bought: Went to pay and the wet food didn't ring up as it was marketed. Employee said the sale was valid until Christmas. If the sale is no longer valid, then why are your shelves not updated and shown as a regular priced item? Employee should have honored the fact that their shelf said it was on sale, but the employee didn't. Paid for the food anyways. Please update the prices on your shelves as to not mislead customers in the future. He didn't even take the sale tag off on the shelf after he checked it! read more

I decided to give petco salon a try .. called prior to see what I needed to get my dogs nails trimmed !! Front ones only .. brought my paperwork ( info in my phone ) ... My Dog is a chi rescue and afraid of everyone but me .. I was told that she had to be tied to a grooming harness , and I was unable to hold her .... wrong answer for me ! I had a coupon for a free 4lb bag of Nutro Brand Dog Food. I went into the store and could not find 4lbs. I found canned food and a 5lb bag of food. I went to the register and asked about a 4lb bag and the employee proceeded to tell me that that coupon didn't exist and it must be "fake". The coupon was from the Petco website. I tried showing the employee that and he refused to help me. I asked to speak to a manager. The manager was zero help. The manager told me again that the coupon must have been fake and that she knows Petco would never make such a coupon. She offered me 25% off of my bag as compensation. I'm so disappointed that nothing was done to right the situation and will not be giving petco my business again. read more

Grooming nightmare (When I went in to get my refund, she laughed about it) I'm a person to always leave kind reviews for places that treat me well and do an overall good job of trying. I had a nightmare grooming experience with my great Pyrenees, and some how they made it feel like it was my fault. She's double coated (so a lot of hair) and her butt and neck we're beginning to become a bit matted. So we called Petco grooming to see what they could do and made an appointment, when I took her in, I said her butt and neck need work, if they had to spot shave some spots that's fine, "do what you need to do" meaning her neck and her butt !!!! I should have never said those words, as when I went to pick her up 4 hours later, she was 95% shaved except for her face and the tip of her tail!!!! I tipped and paid before I saw her, and when I saw her I was in shock... There was nothing anyone could do at that point. Doing some research her double coat may never grow back right, and she has to be brushed twice daily for it to not mat. We spoke to a live chat last night when I came home about our issues and scared for her overrall health and promised they'd call us this morning. All they are doing is giving us a refund, even though I don't understand why anyone would need to pay $100 to completely shave a dog as that was probably the easiest and quickest solution they could think of ! Regardless if they thought they HAD to shave her belly and back coat, they should have called me first as I could have found a place that was willing to take the time to do a blow out and brush her coat!! That's what I'm paying them for right ???... I still feel like they're trying to say it's my fault and now I need to do some research to make sure we protect her skin until it grows back :'( I'll take any advise. This store is great. It's super clean and recently remodeled. The staff are friendly, especially one of the managers, Kurt, I think his name is. He always helps me out to the car with my tons of dog food and clearly loves what he does. However, I did witness an incident a few months ago that concerned me. One of the other managers (I think she is the General Manager-short hair and talks a lot), totally went off on a customer trying to return something. She literally told them they were crazy for trying to return their item and its people like them that makes her hate her job. Um....Really? I was shocked! This was on a Saturday in front of customer, nonetheless. I have since avoided her when I go in there because she honestly frightens me. Overall, however, the store is close, convenient, and reasonably priced. I have been a customer for a while now and will continue to shop there. read more

I have been bringing my dog for a year which at the beginning was stressful for me since my dog was scared coming from the shelter. Jamie has more patience and general understanding for dogs (especially rescue dogs) than some veterinarians I have brought my dog to.
