I've never stayed here as a patient, but can confirm -- the cafeteria food is pretty good! I've had…read morefamily members be hospitalized here both in the med center and the rehab across the turnaround entrance, and when I come to visit I sometimes pop into the cafeteria to get something before going to see them. They have several parking garages that offer short term parking for free (like 30 min or less), but otherwise unless you have validation, you do have to pay. The spots are kind of small and so are the signs in the parking garage, so pay close attention to make sure you're driving in the right place. Overall though, this is a pretty good med center in my opinion that offers most of the major medical subspecialties you may need for your care. The inpatient rehab is also one of the best in Austin, and they are one of the only facilities that offers a driving test if there's a medical concern for someone's safety re: driving (e.g. in a patient with cognitive impairment/early dementia).

My mother was brought to the ER after suffering from severe diarrhea for two weeks. At the time of…read moreadmission, she was extremely weak and unable to retain any liquids. Despite her visible dehydration and the difficulty staff had establishing an IV, she remained in the ER for approximately four hours without receiving any IV fluids. Before being discharged, she suffered a physical setback, yet she was still sent home. The following day, we were notified that she tested positive for C. diff. It is deeply concerning that a patient in her condition, with what turned out to be a serious infection, was brushed off and discharged while still thirsty and weak. We now have to wait several days to see her primary care physician for follow-up care that should have been initiated or supported by the emergency team. I am disappointed by the lack of effort and the dismissive attitude we encountered during this visit. I would appreciate a review of her case and an explanation as to why standard interventions, such as administering saline fluids, were not provided given her symptoms. We can do better for all patients.

i've gone to this urgent care over the years. the wait time varies but is often long…read more I appreciate being able to email them my health history and medication list, as both are long & complex. I think my doing that may be why the Dr who saw me took me seriously, (i saw he had printed out my health history and had highlighted things in it) and spent more time with me than others have. I was super anxious, wayyyyg overtired, and experiencing very intense restless leg (and other parts of my body) syndrome with many forceful spasms, all my muscles in my body were tightly clenched and i couldn't get them to relax and I was also in a lot of pain (this was due to a recent medication change, and my having a bad reaction to it), which I told them. So, at first I was disappointed because Dr. Joe told me that they couldn't give me muscle relaxers bc they would amplify the effects of the drug i was on that I was badly reacting to, so I felt like crying because i didn't know what to do, how to get help. Dr. Joe recommended I go back to my original dosage of the medication, and took the time to show me stretches i could do, and recommended that I take pedialyte or coconut water, and use arnica cream. i followed his advice, got the arnica tablets for leg cramps (i took 6) and the arnica cream for arthritic relief, which i rubbed all over myself. i drank coconut water and went back to my usual dosage of the medication, and did stretches and doing these things worked; got a full 8 hrs of sleep and only had a few leg spasms the whole night! my muscles feel relaxed now, and I am super grateful for that. I appreciate Dr. Joe listening and taking me seriously and recommending all he did, bc i am now back to my normal level of poor health, which is so much less bad than it was before Dr. Joe's help. Emailing health histories and med lists really may have made the difference here, i'm always going to do that in the future. Their email: occmed.pr@texasmedclinic.com

Was referred to a GI doctor for my stomach issues only, even though I complained about a fever I've had for 3 days. I came in around 9pm so it seemed like they wanted to go home as fast as possible. Also no hand soap in the waiting room bathroom? Not even a soap dispenser in sight. Save the time and go to a different urgent care EDIT: Found out I had severe dehydration and a nasty virus that needed attention from the ER. Wish I would have received better care.

He has a great bed side manner but is also a straight shooter. We have dealt with many different nurses and doctors for randomly walk in visits, or random emergencies that life throws at us and everyone's attitude is always excellent. I do not think we have ever ran into anyone that was cranky or unpleasant to deal with. Same goes for the couple of specialists we have seen across the road at the actual hospital. All I have ever been greeted with are smiles and welcoming attitudes. One of the best things about this place, the women in the lab are ninjas! Seriously, we are the biggest babies when it comes to having blood drawn and we never feel a thing-they're literally done in seconds. The only draw back I've encountered in our over year tenure at this facility is that their phone system is kinda lack luster. Calling to reschedule for specialty appointments can be kind of a pain. I've gotten the run around a couple of times. Other than that everything has been great- we know live further North and I don't mind the drive here at all. Great job and Thank You again to all of the wonderful staff at this location!!
