Updated review 12/2021. After another 5 years of dance, we still shop at Bailey's for dance shoes. It's hard to buy tap, jazz or ballet shoes without trying them on for size and proper fit. On-line (Amazon or Discount dance) is ok for accessories and if you are sure of the fit of your clothing/ dance tights and leotards. For shoes specifically we don't think it wise to Internet order. Going into her 11th year of formal dance classes, my teen daughter was excited to get her first pointe ballet slippers. A true ballerina! She was a bitty 4 year old baby ballerina when she started. We shopped at Baileys earlier this week. The young lady who waited on us was helpful. She brought out several pairs of pointe ballet shoes (the kind that allows the ballerina to stand on her toes - ouch) for my daughter to try. Each one fit a bit differently. I hope my daughter will enjoy her new pointe shoes and find them comfortable. The shoes, plus inserts and ribbons all came to $143 approximately. Not cheap. Dance, like any sport, has related expenses. read more

My granddaughter needed tights, ballet slippers, etc. for her first time trying ballet. She's 11 and tall for her age. When I asked the fellow who was waiting on us, he showed us tights, fitted her for slippers, and said she needed toe separators and toe pads. The tights ($11 each) had runs in the the first time she wore them. The toe separators weren't necessary for a first time dancer. The slippers were too small And the toe pads ($28) weren't necessary. My total bill was over $100. When I attempted to return the toe pads (unused and in original package) the owner refused, stating it was beyond their return policy deadline. There was absolutely NO consideration, in spite of the other problems stated above. I will never set foot in this shop. Because of their location, they probably cater to the rich, and $28 probably doesn't mean anything to them. BEWARE OF THEIR RETURN POLICY ... YOU WON'T WIN! read more

Forgot to review this place the other week when I purchased character shoes (I had to wear flats for my first foray back into live theater so I was very excited about this.) It's a small shop, but I was quickly fitted for a shoe and they had my size in stock. Another customer wasn't as lucky, but they were able to order her shoes to arrive within a few days as an FYI. The price was comparable to similar pairs of shoes I saw online. There's a lot of other accessories as well. Great service. read more

We are starting our third year at a local ballet studio (5th year total.) And by "we," I mean my kids. I can't dance! I can barely Zumba in my dark basement with no one watching as they cheerily yell step by step instructions on a youtube clip. I can feel the shame through the screen! Anyway... Up until this year, I have bought a majority of their dance things online. I play a guessing game with sizing up or down depending on Amazon/Zappos reviews. Not a perfect science, but we've made it through This year though, my older daughter has a common size that seemed to be out of stock in the few places I checked. Dance starts Monday, so we ran down to Bailey's today, since that's where her studio recommends we shop. The prices aren't cheap, but dance stuff isn't cheap. Their selection is fantastic- our studio has a wide variety of leotard colors for various classes, and this shop sold every one. There's also dance bags, makeup and hair things and a lot of glittery hats. So many glittery hats. And the shoes- we were by no means the only ones running down here for shoes this weekend. The store had a fairly organized line so that everyone could be fitted properly. The girl sizing my daughter actually had her in a shoe two sizes lager than I was going to guess on Amazon, so, my bad. And the price of the shoes were within a few dollars of the discount dance store someone else has mention (and they weren't in stock there) and cheaper than Amazon, so I don't feel like was ripped off in any way. Dance Fever! I can't say enough about Bailey Slipper Shop! If your a dancer, than this is your store! Im no dancer. LOL. But I needed some extra-strong tights because I've got raggedy nails and stubble issues, but the dancer tights are just right!! And glittery hats! Make sure you walk all the way in, or boogie in (it is a dance shop) becuase the shoeses are in the back. You can get any kind of shoes' you want: tap shoes, dance shoes,...well, that's about it, really. What were you expecting? PROS: Evrything a dancer could want! CONS: The little kids' outfits are kinda creepy. read more

While everyone comments on prices, I continue to go here because they stand behind their products. Several years ago, my daughter picked out a cute biketard as a birthday present. But when we got home and she put it on for grandma, it started coming un-sewn. I took it back and they promptly had one shipped from a different store location. She wore it for dance and the second time we washed it (never putting it in the dryer), it came unsewn. When I took it back, their response "Something is wrong with this product" and they gave me full store credit. We bought something completely different and I've never seen that line stocked in their store again. Since then, I've bought many more items from them and all have stood up to vigorous dance activities and lasted well. They only stock quality merchandise and it's worth a bit more to be able to try it on and make sure it fits right (online ordering just isn't the same). When we found the right fitting item in the wrong color last time we were in there, they promptly ordered it for us in the right color. They never pressure us to buy something and they make sure we get what it is we want that fits well. read more

They have an amazing selection of dance shoes and clothing, but the manager was openly rude to me in front of other customers. Even though I ended up spending $150 on three pair of dance shoes for my two daughters, she came over and scolded the saleswoman who was in the middle of fitting my daughter's tap shoe for allowing her to try on last years shoe for sizing purposes. It was rude and embarrassing for everyone. Since she is a manager at the store, I expected better. I would not recommend shopping there unless you have to. read more

Great selection, but very expensive. Staff is friendly and helpful. Awesome choice for pointe or any sort of shoe fittings, as they have a wide range of brands. However, if you're looking for a simple pair of tights, you're better off ordering them from Discount Dance. 22 dollars for one pair of convertible tights? Yeah, I don't think so. read more

Slow and careless service. Rude staff. Over priced shoes. I'm so glad I didn't end up buying anything from this place because after I left a friend told me about discount dance it's a website where they sell the exact same things for A LOT less! read more
