Baikohken was on my list of ramen shops to try on my last trip to Hokkaido earlier this year. Unfortunately I was unable to make it so I've been wanting to try the local shop here for a while now. I don't wander into Waikiki too often though. As the case with many of the other shops in Stix Waikiki, Baikohken does offer a 15% kama'aina discount, which was much appreciated and played a big factor in my decision to eat there. They also offer lunch specials, highlighting four of their ramens: shoyu ramen, miso ramen, shio ramen, and spicy miso ramen at discounted rates. I love a deal on top of another deal, so of course I had to order one of the lunch specials with the kama'aina discount. I tried the spicy miso ramen, and boy, was I disappointed. Appearance-wise, it looked pretty good. It had chashu, fat pieces of bamboo shoots, beansprouts, green onion, half an egg, and I believe wood ear fungus on top. Unfortunately, the entire bowl tasted like I was eating shin ramyun. You know, the korean spicy noodles. I enjoy Shin-Ramyun, so nothing against that but definitely not what I was expecting. I think Shin-Ramyun has more flavor than this bowl of ramen. Highly disappointed. I'm even more disappointed that I didn't get to try them in Hokkaido, because now that I've had this, I don't think I'm going to want to, even though part of me knows it's better there. Needless to say, I ate about half my bowl (I was so hungry when I went in).. Noodles are my weakness. I usually eat more than I should, so being able to stop after half means a lot. The soup, noodles, chashu, egg...it was all pretty disappointing.

This place is located in Stix Asia food hall with lots of Japanese places to choose from. I ordered the Shoyu Special Ramen and Gyozas. Both items were good; however there wasn't anything majorly special to them. I thought the shoyu ramen was pretty light as the soup was more on the water side but still good. Service was a bit slow but there were a lot of people and not enough staff working. Overall, decent place for ramen.

This ramen spot at the noodle street was buzzing with lot of people so wanted to swing over and try it out. I got to-go and took it to my hotel and it was nicely packed and was ready to be eaten. I was excited to eat it and let me tell you it was not good at all. The flavor of the ramen just wasn't anything special it was very bland and felt very basic, the meat was not very tender and juicy. Overall the experience of the ramen was just not that great.

Went here for lunch the other day and we ordered their shoyu ramen and shio ramen. Love how they put slice of butter in your ramen to add to the richness of the broth. Ramen was pretty yummy.

(3.5*) Located in the Stix mall, plenty of options around but it seems this place had a long line so wanted to give it a try. Waited about 40 mins at 8pm before seated and service was fairly quickly after getting our table. Got the spicy special ramen which was packing in spice. The broth was pretty flavorful to where it was actually quite salty but you could taste the richness especially since they add a knob of butter on top of the corn which probably contributed to high salt levels. They also don't skimp when it comes to chasu, tender fatty and a nice size cut as well.

Hubs wanted to give this place a try. Arrived at around 8pm and we were seated right away. Hubs went with the Spicy Waikiki and I ordered the Butter and Corn Miso and added an egg. Pros - I liked the jammy egg, the miso broth tasted creamy, and the ramen texture was good. Hubs liked the charsiu. However, the flavors, overall, were too subtle. With everything in the bowl - meat, bamboo, beansprouts, egg, . . . - I expected more flavor that, unfortunately, just wasn't there.

VEGAN broth available and delicious. Not only the service was efficient, the noodle was perfect texture with simple but Clean broth that compliment the experience. WITH a beautiful cherry bosom tree ambiance as the center piece around the table. Must try when in Stix looking for some traditional Japanese Noodle fix

** 3.5 ** In the past, I'd always see long lines here. Needed to try it out. Came here for the 1st time back in September 2023. Then again last summer 2024. Again last night. One of my go to toppings is their butter & corn nex to the soft boiled egg. I tried their original miso broth and it was packed with flavor. Not your typical Japanese miso soup broth either. The noodles were nice and tender, along with the bean spots and slice of pork. They garnish with some spring onion whites and thick chunks of bamboo shoots. There was no wait when we arrived, just another party at the tree table, with a gradual flow coming in during our time there. The bowls came out fairly quick. The soup could have been a bit hotter. I always like it piping hot. Overall, a nice cool (very clean) place to grab some noodles and cool down from the humid temps in Waikiki.

Gyoza

Food: SPECIAL SHOYU RAMEN (topping with chasu pork sokedovernight, mixed w/ soy sauce and their original 'double soup' to deepen the flavor) - way too salty but at the same time tasty. The chasu is so flavorful and soft in every bite. Noodle is cooked just right. Broth has a rich flavor yet too salty for my palate. ZANGI - basically it's like karaage. It was so good. Fried to perfection, nice crunch from the outside but juicy from the inside. GYOZA (beef & vegetable dumplings pan seared with sesame oil) - was cooked perfectly and the fillings are seasoned well, savory tasty. But again, they charged us kitchen service for 4%. And yet here we are again, still tip them. Double kill for my pocket. Like, bruuuh, I think the owner should be the one paying for their kitchen cook right? Tsssk... Overall t'was good. Ramen is cheaper compared to next door and the ambiance is pretty comfy. It was clean and the staffs are nice. Abby, our server was so kind and friendly and making sure that we are taken care off. Love her work ethics. Mahalo for reading and happy juandering fellow Yeeps.

This place was hidden amongst all the others. it's definitely a beautiful place with a nice ambiance. i got the butter corn miso with the spicy chicken. the spicy chicken was definitely spicy, i enjoyed it over the ramen. the ramen broth was good on itself, maybe a little heavy but it all came together. i didn't really like the noodles in full honesty. they were soggy and clumped together. it just tasted like starch. i asked for extra scallions, was charged for it and didnt get it which wasn't a whole big deal but still disappointing. it was quite expensive which is given being that it's in waikīkī.

avoid, just not good. it's the most subpar meal we have ever had in hawaii. wouldn't recommend. our entire group thought it was bad.

Baikohken is located in Stix Asia Food Hall/Waikiki Shopping Plaza. We were overwhelmed by the number of food stalls and restaurants and ended up trying Baikohken's ramen. Everyone at our party ordered their Shoyu ramen. We enjoyed it but noticed that it was not as flavorful as the ramen we had before. Their staff was amiable, though. They were pleasant and very accommodating, especially since we were a big party (party of 8). The restaurant is a bit small since it is located in a food hall, but don't let that stop you from eating here. Their staff will make sure you will be seated no matter how big or small your party is.

Top: shio ramen, bottom/ shoyu ramen

We came here for a late night dinner around 9 PM and ordered the shoyu and shio ramen. The texture of the noodles was perfectly done and came out slightly al dente however, the broth was extremely salty, and the pork was even more salty. It was difficult to eat without gulping down a lot of water. If you're looking for a quick and easy eat I don't think that this is a bad option, but there are definitely better Japanese Ramen spots on the island. The service was friendly and the ambience reminded me of my time in Japan.

Very good for takeout ramen. Had gyoza and shoyu ramen. Both hot and fresh; satisfying for a quick meal.

Croquette was good, Vegan ramen not so much. Service is mid. If you're taller than 6' it's also really awkward and cramped. Nice chairs tho

It sucked. Food was cold and didn't taste good. I've been many great restaurants but this wasn't one of them.

My daughter and I like to order the Shiro Wagaya Ramen and my husband loves the Garlic Wagaya (Kuro) ramen. We also like to order the corn tempura as an appetizer. The restaurant itself is not so big but fits quite a good amount of people. The workers are very friendly and accommodating. You can also order your food through a QR code and pay online when you're done. There are also restrooms onsite. Parking is still small and can fill up when it's busy (you also aren't allowed to park in the Church parking lot) If you haven't eaten here before, I would suggest looking on their website at the waitlist to see how many people are on there prior to going there as they can get really busy. You can also put your name on the waitlist online so you don't have to do it on site. They have a really good text messaging system letting you know when your table is almost ready.

Great for authentic ramen and tsukamen with a small, the intimate ramen shop appeal. I enjoyed the sweet and savory flavor of the agedashi tofu but was a little underwhelmed with the ahi belly. I was excepting a slightly fattier cut of fish and wasn't anticipating onion on the skewer and felt it didn't pair well with the fish (personally). I'll definitely be back!

The most impressive part of the night was the reaction from my two daughters. They are typically very picky eaters, but they completely devoured the Tokyo Chicken ramen. My wife and I were just as impressed with our Spicy Tonkatsu and regular Tonkatsu bowls. The broth was remarkably rich and packed with complex flavors, while the chashu was a savory burst in every single bite. I live right near Little Tokyo in Los Angeles and have very high standards for what makes a good bowl of ramen, so I was honestly blown away by the quality here. The kids were so into the food that we even decided to grab an order of chicken karaage to go. The service was exceptionally attentive and the staff went out of their way to ensure our family had everything we needed. The ambiance was also fantastic and added to the overall experience. Regarding parking, it can be tough in Waikiki, but we found a convenient public garage right next to the hotel where the restaurant is located.
