One of my favorite things about vacationing in Hawaii, is the shave ice. I've never tasted anything quite like it. For those unaware, a shave ice is NOT a "snow cone." a snow cone is just crushed ice that comes out as little jagged hail pieces that don't absorb the flavored syrup because it just runs off the ice. Not the case with shave ice, which is made by literally shaving the ice block with a sharp blade, which produces a fine snow that readily absorbs the syrup. This makes it more favorable than a snow cone, and more refreshing to eat. This is important because Bahama Bucks is the first place I've come across to match that legitimate shave ice style I've only found in Hawaii. So they win on texture and technique, what about taste? The amazing thing about Bucks is the ridiculous amount of flavor choices they have. Check out their website, I couldn't even name half of them. It's shaved ice, but like 100 times better. The ice is so finely shaved it's like ice cream. The workers have always been cool. I always get half apple, half sour apple. It's also quite a bit lighter than ice cream which is always good. The parking kinda sucks around here but that's not really their fault. read more

Downgraded to one star on this visit. I've come to this Bahama Buck's once a week for the past several weeks, and while I love the product (you have to love it to pay $10 for some shaved ice with one tiny scoop of ice cream at the bottom, haha) -- the staff are TERRIBLE. I have never had such unfriendly, unwelcoming service at any other food establishment as I have had in my past several visits to Bahama Buck's. EVERY TIME, NO LESS. I could understand a bad day here or there, but this place has given me terrible, unfriendly service SEVERAL TIMES NOW. It's disgraceful, and appalling. The girls working there were gossiping to each other about friends, etc. and made zero effort to be friendly and personable towards me. When handed my snow cone, I thanked them and wished them a good night and the brunette girl just ignored me, turned her back to me, and went right back to gossiping with her blonde friend Kayden. The service is the worst part about Bahama Buck's, and I wish I hadn't spent any of my hard earned money there keeping such terrible people employed. These girls should be reprimanded for their nonexistent customer service skills. Disappointing. First time here. It was a super hot day. Wanted something cold. Saw a line out of the door of this place. Looked really cool a bunch of shaved ice machines everywhere. Packed. Greeted by friendly staff. I tried a cherry and mango regular shaved ice. The texture was interesting. Soft and fluffy if that makes sense lol. BUT, it tasted nothing like Mango or cherry lol. Visited for the first time and I loved the shaved ice. I didn't care for the strawberry cheesecake flavor, but the black cherry was great. I look forward to trying all of the flavors on the menu. The flavors are artificial though so don't expect anything healthy. Go to necktar, a couple of shops down, if you want that. What a failure by management tonight. I can't even blame the associates for the training they were not provided. We were in line tonight by 9 PM with the line already out the door. Once we got closer to the door it's about 9:28 PM with 2 more guest in front of us and the young man at the cash register shouts " just to let you know this guest will be the last guest, we are closed now". The gentleman next in line who was immediately outraged as well as the young lady in front of us started to question the associates why they didn't bother to manage the line before hand instead of making us wait 30 minutes for nothing! The sales associates had nothing more professional to say than "we dont make the rules". Management needs to properly train their associates to better handle this situation in the future. With summer getting closer I wonder how they would handle an even busier future. I would be embarrassed if my employees acted this way as a representation of my training. Disappointing. read more

Excellent service and wide variety. I like that there's lots of sugar free options. The ones with sugar have a lot of sugar so be prepared for a sugar rush and a small size is all you need. Tastes like the Hawaiian shaved ice. They even have flavors I wouldn't have like pickle juice. Try a shaved ice with condensed milk or ice cream, I have in Hawaii and both are extra delicious. They have four sizes starting with 8 oz. Don't waste money on there blended coffee drinks. Cost more here than even starbucks for a 24 oz was over $6. Haven't tried smoothies yet but looks like a very good variety. This area gets packed especially with being new and this shaved ice place is the only one around for miles plus. I went to Bahama Bucks on Wednesday. There was a family inside of the establishment with their dog that wasn't a service dog. Don't get me wrong I love dogs and I have one of my own. I just feel as though it's not ok to bring your dog in an establishment where food is being prepared it's just unsanitary especially when you have dog hair all over you from you dog shedding and he's shaking himself.
