Bahama Buck's is the place to be during a hot Texas summer. Husband and I have stopped in a couple of times. It's bright and cheery with relaxed surfer vibes all year long. The tables can get sticky, but the staff is quick to get things cleaned up. They are also friendly and have no problems helping you out if you get a little overwhelmed by all the flavor options. I highly recommend taking a look at the flavors ahead of time so you'll have time to asses what you might want. You can get several flavors on one order too. Note: the portions are pretty big, hubs and I could have easily split the smallest size. I have also tried the flavored energy drinks. They basically add a syrup to a redbull. I didn't expect to find a shaved ice place in Leander but was surprised to find that when I searched for Shaved Ice on Yelp. They have a drive through but it was surprisingly long so I just decided to park and walk in. They're right across the street from the local high school and it seemed like a lot of the staff were from there. I thought that maybe that was why it was so slow: teenagers being teenagers. However, after I made my order I realized that making the shaved ice was a lot more labor intensive than I thought. They shave down the ice with each order, something that takes more time than you would think. I ordered the Sour Patch Kids flavor and had a bit of a wait, but not as long as I thought it would be; I think the after school rush was over. I had to say that I didn't think the flavor would be that good, that the syrup would be weak and the flavor would wear out-like a cheap slushee but it surprisingly good. We've been coming here for 2 years now and it has progressively got worse and worse. This time I ordered a flat top blue raspberry vanilla with gummy bears and crème. They gave me a cup of liquid. This place has the BEST snow cone I've ever had. Flavors are plenty for you to choose from. You can really tell the differences between high quality snow cone vs average snow cone. When I have snow cone somewhere else, my cup ends up with all syrupy water half way down. At Bahama Bucks, I finish the entire cup and barely get any syrupy water. We hit the drive through and quickly revived two cups of wonderfully fluffy snow served in an insulated cup with a tropical umbrella and a color changing spoon for fun. Then we had our first bite. I have been to three different locations, one in CA and two here in TX. Back in the early 2000's we used to drive 45 minutes one-way with friends to get Bahama Bucks !!! This location is a great place for ice coffee, shakes and of course shaved ice. They offer tons of flavors including sugar free. They also offer ice cream in their shaved ice, or you can get add ons such as sour sauce, sprinkles, cream and others. They offer a variety of sizes with a baby being 8 oz. if you order it "flat", no top, they put it in a larger cup so you still get the same amount. Now that's really cool, no pun intended. Best snow cone I've ever had!! And I am not one to miss a good snow cone stand! Wow! So many flavor options. The shaved ice is perfection topped off with a cute umbrella and even a color changing spoon! I had the hurricane colada, my son choose icing/birthday cake/cotton candy. It even had sprinkles! I absolutely loved this place. I had a sour apple/ sour patch small snow-cone with sour patch sauce. Oh my god was it good it was made absolutely amazingly. If your not huge on sour sweets they have many other mixes to put into your cone. Prices are incredible for what you get i was not disappointed. They also ha e a great drive thru it was pretty busy when we went.they have every flavor you can imagine! Also you can get yours with ice cream and cream! They also make slushies too!! We went 30 minutes before closing tonight. We got three snow cones- two of them didn't have enough syrup. From the middle to the bottom, it was just ice and didn't have any flavor. I have yet to try a flavor that I don't absolutely enjoy! My personal favorite is the blue cotton candy. My daughter loves the pink cotton candy with princess sprinkles so that it sparkles. It is an experience to eat this shaved ice. The best way that I can describe it is that it has a very creamy texture despite being only ice and flavored syrup. Yes you can add cream and even ice cream, but I is packed full of flavor and an amazing texture without it. I really don't understand how anyone can eat anything larger than a "baby" though. I got a "small" my first time and quickly regretted it as it is insanely filling. Well, I hate to take away two stars but I think it is warranted. I was in the restaurant business for more than twenty years. I understand the investment in equipment and people that must be made and I understand the concept of supply and demand that might encourage an owner to consider raising prices. The two star take way is not for the small increase in price, but the fact that they have reduced the amount of flavored syrup. Two of my grandkids and I went recently, on a very hot day, to get a frosty treat. All three of us noted that half way through our shaved ice concoction, there was only ice and no flavor. You can watch the teenagers making your snow cone and it becomes clear this ain't no shack on the side of the road setup. The employees were definitely still in training, but it looked like they were getting the processes down and were kind. The manager was very friendly, and took the time to ask us how everything was.
