The sticker says 5 W 20 conventional. He put in synthetic without asking and tried to tell me 5 W 20 means synthetic and the sticker on the engine block calls for synthetic because all 5 W 20 oil is synthetic. Not true. It comes in full synthetic, conventional or synthetic/conventional blend. I told him I've been using conventional 5 W 20 over the life of this car. I know that 5 W 20 means oil viscosity is 5 at 0 degrees F and 20 at 212 degrees. I'm doing something right because not everyone gets 20 plus years and 200,000 plus miles out of a 4 cyl gas engine. He just says "No it isn't! Honda makes the car and recommends synthetic! Look on the engine block sticker!" The sticker says 5 W 20, but nothing snot synthetic. He lied to get an extra $30 out of me, but I won't be back because he lied. Pretty short-sighted of him. I might have become a return customer and I might have written a nice review. I just have a problem with liars.

We had it towed to a repair shop that my husband uses only to find out that they do not work on transmissions. I searched the internet looking for a transmission repair shop, reading their reviews and everything. I contacted two transmissions repair shops, I was quoted the same amount for a replacement transmission from both shops. I then read their review's reviews on both and decided on Value Transmissions on Skokie Blvd. The other repair shop put transmissions fluid in vehicle so that allowed me to drive it (very slowly) to the transmission shop near our home. This avoided an added tow fee of nearly $300.00 to go less than 6 miles. Prior to bringing it to the transmission shop, I asked the auto repair shop did they have any recommendations, he did not. I had already received two transmissions shop on the internet. So I went with Value Transmission on Skokie Blvd. The reviews were good so thought this should work. Thy have good reviews and are close to home and a car rental place. I reached out to the owner, Mark. He informed me that he could do the work and quoted a price. At a price we could work with. Drove the car to the shop to drop it off. He was amazed that I was able to get it there without it being towed. To God be the Glory! He took the car into his shop, took it apart and gave a date when it would be ready. He required a deposit prior to starting the work, which was understood. The deposit was provided and he started the work. During the time the car was in the shop my daughter had a work trip in LA, therefore a rental wasn't needed. However, upon her return her car wasn't ready so a rental we got. Mark stated that if we used the rental place next door they would provide a discount, which the did, Nick was awesome. When I dropped the car off, Mark informed me that he had another GMC in his shop that he was currently working on. I thought, oh this is a good thing. He also told me that he had worked for GMC for several years and was pretty familiar with their vehicles. So, I/we put our trust in him. Two weeks went by, then Mark called and said the car was ready. I wasn't available so my Granddaughter pick it up on Friday afternoon. She young she's not familiar with cars didn't know to expect. However, she knew enough to know something wasn't right with her Mom's car. When I returned home later that day, I test drove it around the block and was totally upset. The service engine light was on, the speedometer did move and the transmission wasn't performing properly. I immediately called Mark, of course the shop was closed and not open on the weekend. I left a very upsetting voicemail letting him know how unhappy I was. I expressed to him that we paid what he asked with no hesitation. And for the car to run the way it did was very disappointing. I told him that I was bringing it back early on Monday morning. I needed everything to be fixed properly. I told him that we had already turned the rental car in a now had to rent another car because my daughter had to get to work. He did call back, apologized, he said bring it back in and that he would work something out on the second rental. Took the car in that Monday throughout the entire process Mark kept in touch as to what was going on with the car. I thought that was very good of him as an owner of a repair shop. After 5 days Mark called and said the car was ready for pickup. I was available this time so I went to get it. I wanted to take it for a test run. The employee that worked on the car, Wintrust when along with me for the test drive. I was very impressed with the work that was done. Wintrust & I drove it for nearly a mile. I accelerated at different speeds, stopping and going at different speeds and everything was good. Wintrust informed me that a bad part was delivered to them and that was the problem. They were able to get the correct part, install it and put the transmission back in and repair the car to their satisfaction. I would recommend this shop for transmission work. They stand by their work and with Wintrust on the case you will be satisfied.

They put the car up on the rack, quickly diagnosed the issue, and instead of recommending replacing the original Ford part, they suggested a simple fix that saved me a few hundred dollars. What I appreciated most was the honesty. They easily could have pushed a bigger repair, but they didn't. The whole visit took about 30 minutes and I was back on the road.

This is my first time ever feeling the need to give a business a review. I took my car in to get…read morethe power steering lines replaced. I picked up my car right before closing. The next morning I noticed a bracket sticking out the top of my hood. To my surprise it was a bracket that holds down the power steering lines. After realizing they forgot to reinstall it, I took a closer look around where the work was performed. The front right wheel well/bumper was missing a clip and flapping in the wind. There is also a splash bracket missing. All these items are parts that had to be removed in order to put the new power steering lines in. I fixed the rest of the issues myself. When I called to ask the manager if they had the missing bracket his response was "we have master mechanics here and any bracket that we take off we put back on." Well attached are the photos... I sent an email as well to see if they had the missing bracket but no response. My power steering does work fine, but everything else being wrong/missing doesn't give me peace of mind. Based on other reviews this family business, with a good reputation, was sold and a lot of the good mechanics left. I wish I had read that before taking my car there. Edited based on owners response below: You can see the two circled bolts where the missing bracket was. About 1 inch above where the bracket was is the power steering lines that were replaced. By saying "You emailed pictures of the bracket and it is not in the area we worked on" is clearly not true. It 100% needs to be removed to access the lines. It just goes to show this place will not take any blame for anything and is dishonest. I never received a call/email back after I emailed the photos. Take my car back to get looked at? No thank you. I fixed all the incorrect work myself. It's not even about the missing bracket, I already replaced it. The company's response and how they handled this situation goes to show how they are unapologetic and constantly deny something possibly could have gone missing.
