When I asked around about their reputation and did some research, I got nothing but a lot of past negativity. I was advised to stay away by some of the Porsche experts in the field whom care about me deeply and have a great friendship with. You guessed it, I proceeded anyways with the vision that finding a combo like this isn't an everyday opportunity - This is when I first connected with Parin Shah, to explore the car and its background. Parin and the CMC folks were nothing short of incredibly honest, forthcoming and fair in describing the car. Parin himself spoke with me multiple times, getting me everything I needed and gave me full access to the car for PPI at another dealer. Keep in mind that I did not actually purchase a vehicle, so much of my review is based on the hospitality. Starting off, one needs to know that it is a small lot in central Chicago and there was no parking around whatsoever, I had to walk to the area, and when I did get there, I had some difficulty finding the front desk. There is a warehouse on the left where a few men were working on the cars. I decided that they were too deep in their work to be bothered by me, and I walked around the cramped place. A man drove up in a Ford Taurus, parked it, and upon seeing me, greeted me quite nicely and asked what car I was looking for. He answered my questions respectfully, and I might add, truthfully, as he didn't seem to think long. He offfered to show me around, and I said I could manage on my own. While I was looking around, He walked up to me a couple of times and asked if I was having trouble. I said no. At the end, he said he appreciated me coming, shook my hand, and gave me some business cards. Now, onto the car quality. Some I saw were completely torn down inside, with wires everywhere and half with missing center consoles. However, all of the cars, except about 1 or 2 on the lot, had a musty smell, combined with an overpowering sweet scent, like someone hadn't showered and only wore cologne for a year had lived in the car. I never found the reason why that was. Other cars had police decals on them that were being scraped off, and there was a building in the back, seemingly unused, as the door was rusty, locked, dented, and the windows were boarded up. On March 8th 2024 I purchased a 2015 Ford Expedition XL, 4 x 4, with 31,000 miles sight unseen except for the photos provided and Ted's description. I did my homework and researched reviews about Chicago Motors and also about Ted. I also looked over the CARFAX concerning the condition of this vehicle. Ted was extremely helpful! He assisted with the wire transfer of funds, shipping the vehicle, keeping me updated in the process and generally answering any and all questions I had. The vehicle arrived on Saturday, March 16 and was exactly as described other than being a little dirty from a cross-country drive in rain and snowstorms. I just had it "smogged" in California today and it passed with flying colors. It has one minor recall from Ford and is going to the Ford dealer next week. It has also been parked in my garage for days now and has not had a single leak. Beautiful car, great price and great to do business with Chicago Motors and especially Ted! Bait and switch. Most of the police vehicles at this location are in poor condition. I drove a long way for a Crown Victoria just to find out all the paint was coming off of it after I specifically asked "Ted" if the paint was peeling. I offered the $3000 less because that is the cost of a paint job that is nice. He did not like that offer. So, he tried to switch me to another car that was not a Crown Vic. I did not like what he offered and said I might consider a Charger. He at least was honest enough to tell me what Chargers they did have were junk and the Charger is not a good car. I asked to see some other Crown Vics but he refused. I gave them the benefit of the doubt trying to get another Crown Vic not to long ago and "Ted" just dismissed me when I provided a more than generous offer. It should not be this complicated to pay cash for a car. As for the facility it is a cramped inner city lot with about 50+ cars slammed together. Facility is older, not very clean, and in a congested part of town. Questions are met with resistance and fees are unclear. The prices are really high for the quality provided. It is so sad that this company could not be more legit as it could be a great resource to get a old police vehicle for me being only 150 miles away. I may give them another chance if they can actually answer questions, provide the requested vehicle, and not be shady. read more

This dealership does nothing to the car. Asked if the vehicle had any existing damage or previous. Answer "No" Car arrived with bad oil leaks. So bad I could not drive it. Oil was dirty. Had oil pan taken off and resealed. Transmission lines bad leak and had those replaced. Hail damage all over the size of half a dime. Hood repaired poorly. Missing main fuse and relay cover under the hood. Missing console piece, Front and rea bumper has damage with fastener areas of bumper cover broken. Inspect their cars thoroughly. We drove all the way there after being assured by Ted that the vehicles are as represented. NOT TRUE! Con-artists at best, criminals at worst. I bought a 2011 Ford Explorer PI from Chicago Motors. The cars were delivered 2 WEEKS LATE with no compensation or explanation. They made me drive 45 minutes to a pickup spot. Driver INSISTED he would ONLY meet in a shady, gated gravel lot in a bad part of town. Had to call the sheriff to escort me to ensure I wasn't going to get mugged. THE CHERRY ON TOP? The car had a faulty wheel assembly that resulted in a wheel separating from the vehicle at 25 miles per hour, destroying the CV axel and sheering of 2 wheel studs. First time buying a car sight unseen from out of state. It was a decent price so I figured, just jump in and hope for the best. 2015 Tahoe PPV. Pros, the outside looks really good,clean carfax, fast shipping. I needed a vehicle fast. I had the car taken to a mechanic to get Virginia inspected which passed but the Cons: was unaware of the hole in the driver side floor that was under a mat, two rims are slightly bent which makes for a rough ride even after having them rotated and balanced. Also was unaware of the plastic floor. nothing sticks and is very slippery getting in an out. As a former leo, i have never seen a plastic floor like this. I will try to get carpet installed over it so no one falls getting in and out including myself. I bought new mats but they slide all over the place too. its a little weird. I think the rough ride is the most disappointing. I need to get new rims. Communication, titling and shipping were all great. read more

They move A LOT of inventory and you should definitely swing on by to take a look because, like the car I purchased, many vehicles do not even get put online. We bought a used 2007 Tahoe LT in August of 2018. Low miles, runs really nice. However, during our first snowfall we tried using our 4WD and found out it does not work. We assume they knew of this before selling it to us, but didn't mention it once. They weren't pushy with their sales and price seemed fair if the 4WD actually would have worked. Got an awesome ex-copcar! 2008 Crown Vic, just now the seat moving motor doesn't work to move it closer or farther... the door handle doesn't open on driver side, and the seat is incredibly tore up. We love the V8, just sad that the phone charger port no longer works either... Nor do any lights illuminate when you open the doors or when ignition is off. It was a decent price, and we love our "copcar", minus the few issues. read more

This is the worst business I've dealt with. I purchased a 2013 Ford Taurus Interceptor from them and when I received vehicle I noticed it had gray splotches on the back door and the rim of the back wheel. Even further they charged me 11k total for the car and the car was in an accident where the complete right side was replaced. The title of the car was never transferred to their business instead it was left as is from the original owners. It took forever to obtain a title, for the when the original title came up missing. I'll admit I was a little bit apprehensive buying a vehicle across country without seeing in person. I talked to Ted and he forwarded me all the info , pictures and arranged shipping. I forwarded payment and got the truck delivered a week later. Ted was 100 percent on communications the entire time. I received all the paperwork in a timely manner and was able to register the vehicle without a hitch. Now onto the vehicle. It does have a few small dings and one dent , the interior is in really nice shape. Now to be totally honest there were a couple of mechanical issues , and towing was involved , but Ted came through and took care of it and didn't screw me over like a lot of across country dealerships would do. The truck runs great now and I'm really happy with it. I would totally recommend them as they stand behind their vehicles , and actually give a sh&t . It's really refreshing. Deal with confidence !!!! BUYER BEWARE. I initially did a great review , but after months of dealing with the electrical issues with this truck I had to dump it at a substantial loss. The truck had been wrecked and flooded and had been rebuilt so the casual observer wouldn't be able to tell. My mechanic looked at and showed me: water lines with dirt inside the dash! Initial communication wasn't the best. They seem to be busy and I had to be persistent. They have great inventory and prices, and customer service was good overall. The car I ended up buying hadn't been listed on the website yet, but they sent pictures and answered any questions I had. I rarely give 5-Star reviews (you can look at my previous reviews) but I have had a great experience so far with Ted and Abdul. We called about a $3K 2008 model with 101k miles. They said sure, come look at it. We arrived and they spoke with me for a while, I wanted to get to know them and they took the time to get to know us. I need a car I can depend on for several more years to come. They said the car I came in to look at was probably not something I could keep for another 5-10 years like I wanted so they showed me several other options. We left that night with four vehicles from the inventory we were interested in and I went home to do research. The next morning I went in, test drove everything I wanted to see, and asked questions. I bought this on a Saturday and asked if I could take it to my usual mechanic and have him give it a good once-over on Monday and, if he found anything, would they fix it? They said sure and wrote that on my paperwork. My mechanic found a few issues -- nothing super serious, but things I hoped these guys would take care of. I drove over from my mechanic this morning, talked briefly with Ted, he sent me to his mechanic a few minutes down the road. In a few hours I had everything resolved that I had hoped they'd resolve. They didn't charge me a dime and the mechanic they sent me to was amazing, answered all my questions, and I'll be back to see him as well in the future for mechanic needs. I took the time before reviewing to read the other reviews. Frankly, I did see them selling cars quickly while I was there. It's not a surprise that folks called about cars in stock then when they arrived the cars were no longer in stock. They're truly moving a lot of inventory around here and folks "in the know" seem to really like this place. They stayed late for us on a Friday night, met early on a Saturday, and even after I'd already paid them for the car... they fixed things I wanted fixed even though I bought it "As-Is" and knew I'd be ultimately responsible if they didn't want to help me. I walked away with a great 2008 Crown Victoria with 30K miles on it. I walked away happy with my purchase and knowing that I can walk back into Chicago Motors and get help anytime from Ted or Abdul. AND they introduced me to a great, affordable, and trustworthy mechanic who can service my vehicle down the road. The glove box was broken, one window doesn't roll down, there was damage to the side mirror and lower front. the brakes needed to be done and the car sways when I drive over bumps. the owner would not negotiate the price. if I had more time to look for a car I would've gone somewhere else. their customer service is terrible, they're rude and short on the phone like they don't want to talk. do not buy a car from here. read more

Bought a 2011 CVPI from them in June 2014, based solely on pictures, mileage, etc. and had it delivered. I expected to have to sink about 2 grand into the car after it arrived, being that it's a former cop car that I bought off the internet with no firsthand info other than the saleperson's words and a clean carfax. What I ended up getting delivered to my house a couple days later was a car that looked better than expected that I have been driving for over 2 years with ZERO issues. When I got it, it just kind of needed new brake pads and I did an alignment a few weeks later, and I had to have someone hook the auxiliary power port back up because it got disconnected when the police equipment was removed. After about 2 years (this summer 2016) the blower motor resistor went out which is a cheap and simple DIY fix. That's it. I asked the mechanics who did the alignment and brakes inspect the car and they said it was in great shape (Like I said I expected this thing to be beat up) and one told me it was in better condition than any of the area jurisdiction's crown vics that they have worked on. So I am pretty satisfied, but why only 4 stars? Welp, first reason is I did have to overpay for it, but I live in the middle of nowhere so there weren't many options. They worked with me a little on the price but I know they made a killing on it. I had a lot of money to work with to get a car and I was tired of waiting for different places to get the color combo i wanted so I said **** it and bought this one when it popped up. Second, at the time their website copy pasted every single available feature for the car into their descriptions for every car, and if you looked carefully each car was even listed as having both the rubber flooring and the carpet flooring. They listed them all as having power seats and cruise, etc, and since i never went over this with the salesperson I assumed my car would have those features, which it did not. Oh well. Finally something that came as no surprise was that the pictures for the car I bought were all crisp and clean except the picture of the trunk deck that was blurry as hell, which told me the paint on the trunk deck was scratched all to hell. Sure enough when it arrived the trunk deck was kinda scratched up, but not nearly as bad as I expected. That's still kinda shady. That all being said I never felt the need to contact them to complain about anything and never needed to follow up on it, because I was overall satisfied. Maybe if this were a normal car purchase it would be nothing too special at all, but considering I bought a car on the internet after doing nothing more than looking at a carfax and some pics and talking to a total stranger that wanted my money (expecting to get semi-screwed and needing to do repairs) I consider this a better than average, and better than expected, experience. Crooks in violation of the Illinois Consumer Protection Act. Wednesday around 4 PM I emailed Chicago Motors to inquire about the availability of a car listed on their website. About an hour later Abdul replies indicating the car is available. I replied to him that I will be in the following day Thursday at noon for a test drive and inspection. The next day I called in advance to confirm. I told Abdul that I was the person he had traded emails with the previous night regarding a specific car. He told me that he had JUST sold that car but had others available for me to look at. Well I was born at night, but it wasn't last night, and I'm smart enough to know an illegal bait-and-switch sales tactic when it slaps me in the face. Based on Abdul's willingness to engage in such fraud, I can only conclude this is not a business you want to deal with. I surely never will. read more

Worst place ever. Their website says they have a few cars that I was looking for in my price range. So I drove from Michigan all the way out here. About a nice 6ish hour car ride and a nice rental car to add to the tab. I called a day before to make sure they had at least 3 cars to show me. The guy I spoke with said he did. So as soon as I got close enough I must have called more than 8 times to make sure everything was still set for me to come take a look. I got no answer and made me worry they were closed and I drove for nothing.. Arriving there, I waited another 15 minutes to talk to someone only to be told to wait for a "sales person".. The guy I spoke with said they did not have any cars for my price. They had a ton of cars but all too much for my blood. He basically rushed to get me out the door after telling him how much I had and what I was looking for. He did not care who I spoke with the day before about my price range and my needs. Do not come here. These guys are thieves!! I get theses cars for under 2k back in California and less miles and cleaner.. These guys Mickey Mouse together the cars and charge up the ...... I I could give them no starts, I'd give them toilet paper. Very rude staff, make you wait, lie to you over the phone and waste your time. I drove all the way to them to purchase a car. They took the truck back even though they were under no obligation to do so and ended up replacing the whole motor. I'll buy my next truck through them. Bought a used police vehicle here and I must say that it was one of the best car buying experiences I've had. Bought the car when it was cold outside & about a month later it was hot enough to use the A. C. I noticed that the AC wasn't blowing cold air. Called up the dealer and was told to bring it in. Most dealers would just say sorry you bought it "As Is". These guys ended up fixing the issue. It was a minor repair but I still appreciate that they fixed it with no hassle. My husband and I drove three hours to go here to look at four different cars. I talked to someone the night before to see if they take trade ins. I was told they do and there was no problem. When we got there the parking was very poor. I think we circled the block three times to finally get a parking spot around the block. The lot was horrific. Cars were super dirty and you couldn't fit between the cars enough to even walk through. Once we got in the tiny office, the man didn't really seem to know how to talk to customers or sell a car. He gave us keys to one vehicle we were wanting to look at and the key fob didn't even work. The cars were so close together you couldn't even open the doors all the way to see or get in the car. The smell in the first one was horrible and was way different cosmetically than in the pictures online. There were lots and lots of scratches that they did not show on the pictures. I understand they were used cop cars, but at least show the scratches so it isn't deceiving especially for people that are driving a long way to get there. The layer of dirt on them doesn't help either. We went ahead and looked at the second vehicle we were interested in. This one was a little better cosmetically outside and inside. But they fill the holes on the roof where lights used to be with a type of caulk and it looks super trashy because they overflow the hole and it bulges out. It just looks bad, very bad. Understanding these are cop cars, there are still holes in the ceilings where they have ripped out dome lights and where spotlights were taken out. Total turn off to buy the car. While listening to the engine run with the second vehicle, I told the man before we go further I wanted them to assess my trade so they could be doing that while I look at more cars. He asked me what kind of car it was and if I had the title. Of course I did not have the title. I had a loan. It is an almost $35,000 car, $65,000 brand new. He told me if you don't have the title in hand they won't take trades. He went on to mention that they don't finance anymore. I told him that I already had financing set up with my bank and will have a check for them but first I needed him to look at my trade. I'm not sure if they are aware, but the bank sends the title to them once the loan is paid off by them via a check which would take less than a week to get in the mail. He kept saying they don't finance there, which was frustrating, because again, I wasn't asking them to finance. He said they only do trades if you have the title in hand. I was never told this when I spoke with the man the previous day. I told him about speaking with the guy the day before who assured us they took trades and I also mentioned that we had just drove three hours to look at their cars. He said he felt bad but there was nothing that he could do. I then told him we were wasting our time there then because we went there to trade in my car, which is definitely their loss because this was a very rare car. If there was better parking, they may have been able to see that they would have wanted my car in their lot. I'm not trying to gloat, but it would have given them some business that they needed. All in all, from the moment we got there, the whole place gave off bad vibes. I would not suggest driving from out of town, or even out of state to go here because you WILL be disappointed. After spending almost $100 in gas to get there and back and taking about 7 hours of my life I will never get back, I'm very disappointed. They all look very clean and with police cars which they only deal with they are fairly sturdy cars . When buying a used police car you have to deal with different issues like antenna holes, screw holes on the roof lip from the light bars, push bumper guard holes, screw holes in the dash, sometimes other holes or damage from prisoner cages and wear on the driver seat. This is the norm some cars are better then others it depends on were the car came from. At the end of the day you have a very durable, fast reliable car. I hate the idea of spending the time to shop and buy a car, but these guys made it a very smooth and easy process for me. I told them a few cars I was interested in and they had all three waiting for me to test drive. They took their time explaining everything to me, including car details and numbers and was very fair. Pa State Constable Lockhart here. I had bought a 2003 Tahoe from Abdul Jr and his father Abdul. I flew out from Pittsburgh,Pa. to aquire this vehicle from them and drive it back to Pa. After arriving at chicago motors i looked over the Tahoe and noticed that the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. Abdul got a handheld scanner and plugged it in and showed me that it needed 2 O2 sensors which he said that was all it needed. I paid him $ 6400.00 for this vehicle. He also stated to me on the phone that ANYTHING THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED HE WOULD REPLACE IT BEFORE I CAME OUT TO PICK IT UP. Needless to say i did buy the tahoe and drove it back to PA and noticed the idler pulley was bad also.. The 2nd day i had it the fuel pump went out and had the tahoe towed,had it fixed along with the pulley,the 3rd day i had 2 o2 sensors replaced(check engine light reset). The 5th day check engine light came back on,ran diagnostics and needed to more o2 sensors(did that,the 7th day damn light came on again,needed 2 knock sensors and replaced the intake gaskets.The 9th day the check engine light CAME BACK ON,(MISSFIRE) Replaced all plugs and wires. The 12th day the i had a problem with the computer diagnostics,IT SHUT THE TAHOE OFF WHILE DRIVING IT,HAD IT TOWED AGAIN,HAD IT FIXED. I AM NOT VERY HAPPY WITH THESE PEOPLE.I called Abdul jr and told him what had happened,,,his exact words were: IF YOU SELL YOUR TAHOE,I WILL GIVE YOU A REALLY GOOD DEAL AND WHAT I PAY FOR MY VEHICLES I WILL SELL TO YOU FOR THE SAME PRICE.I did sell my tahoe and did call his father to have Abdul call me back,,,,HE NEVER DID!!!! I know one thing people,,,,,DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE SHARTERS !!!! THEY DO NOT RECONDITION THEIR VEHICLES AT ALL AND THEY SAY THEY DO,,,YA RIGHT,,IM SO SURE. I know one thing,,,NO CONSTABLE FROM MY AREA OF PA WILL EVER BUY A CAR FROM THEM PERIOD. I could'nt even do my job duties as a constable because i was afraid of breaking down doing a transport.
