My flight was delayed. Could Bag Valet get my bag that is in Baggage service office and hold it til I land?

No, we do not deal with lost or delayed luggage.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with warm cookies, ice water, and the soft sound of a piano while waiting to be checked in by guest services. It instantly made you feel warm, cozy, and welcome. There was even a happy hour taking place while we waited, perhaps I just arrived at the perfect time. Everything felt charming and thoughtfully done. From the lobby up to our suite, the hotel exuded classic Charleston charm. From the brass accents to the bedroom details. The suite was a reasonable size for two people sharing a double bed room, especially for a short turnaround stay. The colors, the view, there was nothing more I could have asked for. Guest services was attentive and very pleasant, and the door staff greeted us with genuine smiles. Overall, no complaints on service. There were a couple of drawbacks. The elevators were extremely slow and made some strange noises. The bathroom, as others on Yelp have described, felt like a "Tetris puzzle"you had to maneuver carefully between the sink, toilet, and tub. The tub itself was quite small, especially for a larger person. However, no one really vacations just to stay in their room. The hotel's location is unbeatable, right in downtown Charleston, with everything within perfect walking distance. Knowing what I know now, I would not let the few negatives outweigh the many positives of this quaint and charming hotel.

We stay solely at "Boutique Hotels" or "Bed and Breakfasts" in amazing locations and still 86 Cannon tops them all! It is in a beautiful, historic, laid back setting yet it has all the amenities...a delicious breakfast that can be eaten in the main house cafe, outside on the porch or in your room. There's a small onsite pool with a pool house that includes a shower, restroom and beverages. There's a wine and cheese pairing offered each evening and chocolates are left on the doorknob. In addition, bikes are offered for your enjoyment as well as water bottles (which were a lifesaver in the humidity of early June). Besides all of the wonderful amenities, the design and decor of 86 Cannon are beautifully put together. I look forward to returning in the future.

She discussed leaving the hospital but staying close by, since we live 2 hours away. Her Dr reviewed her latest labs and told her if she stayed close he would discharge her. Immediately we looked into what hotels in Charleston had the most comfortable beds since she would have to stay in bed most of the day. Several came up but we had not stayed at the Dewberry before and our research said they had very comfortable beds, so we decided to book our 4 day stay. We could not have chosen a better place to visit. Sure this mid century modern hotel sits in a prime location in downtown Charleston, is gorgeous with an elegant atmosphere and beautiful roof top Bar, The Citrus Club, but ALL of their staff are exceptional and made us feel like royalty. I cannot remover all the names but Maria and Suzy at the front desk, Roxana and Maria in Housekeeping, along with the Valet and restaurant staff we so welcoming and accommodating. Oh and the rooms and beds were SO comfortable and luxurious!!! We are already planning a trip when my wife is better to enjoy all the Dewberry has to offer again! I cannot thank the Dewberry and it's amazing staff enough for going out of their way to help my wife be comfortable while healing and doing everything they could for us!! THANK YOU!!!

The biggest difference this time around was staying with two friends instead of solo and for two nights instead of one. We booked a larger room with two queen beds and a fold-out couch which gave us plenty of space to spread out. The bathroom was also a nice size, making it pretty easy for three people to get ready without being too cramped. Oh, and the robes! So relaxing. One of my favorite things about Emeline continues to be the common spaces. The lobby is gorgeous, the outdoor terrace is a wonderful place to relax especially in the evenings, and I still love having Clerks Coffee Co. and Frannie & The Fox right on the property. This visit, we also took advantage of the complimentary bicycles, which were easy to reserve and a fun way to explore Charleston early in the morning. We also used the free drink coupon at a sister hotel/bar. The staff was friendly throughout our stay and everything was and welcoming. My only minor complaint was that the elevator seemed a little... temperamental... at times, but nothing that significantly impacted our stay. The only thing I'd encourage future guests to be aware of is the parking fee. It's pretty standard for downtown Charleston, but definitely worth factoring into your budget ahead of time. Between the beautiful boutique atmosphere, unbeatable location, thoughtful amenities, and inviting common spaces, Emeline is a fantastic place to stay in Charleston. I wouldn't hesitate to book here again on my next visit.

A lot of attention went into the rooms. For example dimmable lights in the bedroom and two in the bathroom. We had a fireplace too. Was incredibly romantic and relaxing. There is Airbnb but this was 100 times better than Airbnb. And the staff were all warm and friendly. I look forward to future stays. I plan to go back to SC just to stay here. The Mills House may be a beautiful historic hotel, but its hospitality, particularly among its…read moresenior leadership, is an absolute disgrace. My husband and I chose this property for our wedding weekend, expecting a memorable and welcoming experience, only to have what should have been one of the happiest occasions of our lives overshadowed by the appalling attitudes and conduct of multiple employees and managers. I live with serious medical conditions that require access to a microwave to warm medical devices and certain medications throughout the night. Rather than approaching this as a legitimate disability-related accommodation request, staff repeatedly treated it as an ordinary amenity issue. At 2 a.m. on our first night, my husband approached the overnight front desk employee to explain my needs. When he returned specifically to THANK her for attempting to help us, she rolled her eyes and sarcastically emphasized the word "need." The wedding coordinator also seemed visibly irritated by our questions about our wedding arrangements, and several members of senior management demonstrated an equally disappointing lack of compassion. Most astonishingly, General Manager Mr. Linder suggested that we relocate to another hotel THE DAY BEFORE OUR WEDDING to accommodate my medical needs. That this was considered an appropriate response by the person responsible for running the property speaks volumes about the standard of hospitality demonstrated by its leadership. I do want to recognize two employees who genuinely made us feel cared for: Mr. Paulussen, who helped facilitate getting my medical needs met, and Duwight, who graciously helped us record our wedding-day first look. Their kindness and professionalism stood in stark contrast to the treatment we received from others. What makes this experience particularly infuriating is that every one of our needs was ultimately met. The problem was never the outcome. It was the appalling manner in which we were treated while trying to get there. Simple requests became exhausting ordeals involving dismissive attitudes, unnecessary resistance, repeated explanations, and escalation through multiple members of management. Instead of enjoying the day before our wedding, my husband spent precious hours advocating for medical accommodations that ultimately proved entirely achievable, while I dealt with the additional physical and emotional toll of the situation. Perhaps most telling is that General Manager Mr. Linder has yet to offer a sincere apology for the unnecessary stress and disruption his handling of the situation caused during our wedding weekend. When the person responsible for setting the standard of hospitality cannot even acknowledge how his decisions affected his guests, it's hardly surprising that other members of his team demonstrate a similar lack of empathy and accountability. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone with an "invisible" disability or chronic medical condition against staying at The Mills House. You may ultimately receive everything you need, as we did, but you should not have to endure disrespect, feel belittled, or be made to feel like an inconvenience simply because your medical needs require some flexibility and understanding. Meeting a guest's needs after making them fight for basic consideration is not exceptional hospitality. It is a failure of hospitality. Beautiful surroundings cannot compensate for leadership that has seemingly forgotten that treating people with dignity, compassion, and respect is the very foundation of this industry. Our wedding weekend deserved far better, and so does every guest who chooses to stay here.
