It was a great stay! Lovely ambiance and amazing service. Cookies and milk every night, freshly baked, and beautiful rooms. Lots of complimentary items, such as food, and personal treatment, like a pillow menu. Love this hotel! 10 out of 10!!

Bob, the bartender with his fabulous espresso martini

First time in Charleston for my husband and myself, and we were truly looking forward to this trip. We do travel quite a bit and can be appreciative of the little things. I read a lot of reviews and came across this hotel because of its location and other folks reviews. I would absolutely book this hotel again and I will be coming back to Charleston. The people made our experience here in Charleston fabulous and we greatly appreciate it. Thanks to Hannah, at the front desk for all her recommendations to eat everything was spectacular. Thanks to Bob the bartender that made one of the best espresso martinis we've ever had and lastly, thanks to the manager Carlo for coming over and introducing himself. Everyone is so nice and we def received the southern hospitality!

Just returned from two night stay at this wonderful hotel. We have stayed at many hotels in this country and others and have been on several cruise lines. We have never been treated as well as we were at the French Quarter. Every single person we came in contact with was friendly and asked if there was anything they could do to make our trip better. Breakfast was delicious with the choice of dining downstairs or in one's room (we opted for our room). In the evening, there was wine and a gourmet table of appetizers. Special treat was milk and warm cookies before bedtime. Can't say enough about our experience starting with the valets and including front desk, breakfast team and happy hour staff. Location is perfect for walking to town and the market. Beautiful, sparkling clean hotel and dedicated team members. (The emergency stairs even had wall murals) We can't wait to return.

I don't have a good picture of the hotel, but I have a street

I stayed at the suite last July, and in 2024 and 2023. The hotel is beautiful, with old-time designs but very modern rooms. The stairs are amazing, the staff are nice, and the food is good. 10/10

What a wonderful hotel and so conveniently located! We had a lovely stay here. The place is clean and the staff is great! Everyone was very nice and helpful. The room was absolutely lovely. Just as we expected. Complimentary snacks and breakfast were far better than most places we have stayed. The building is on the older side, but that's expected in this part of town so we were not surprised. We would definitely come back.

The jasmine was in bloom. The fragrance is amazing on the way out and on the way in. Gorgeous. Heaven.

Yelp asks, "Do you recommended this place?" Yes. 100% I recommend a stay at the French Quarter Inn. This place is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! After a long day of travel and airport delays, we checked in sometime after 1 a.m. Our hist still greeted us with warm cookies and beautifully chilled glasses of champagne. Seeing the wear on our faces, she just offered us the bottle! Upon entering the room (we upgraded to the queen suite with a market view), it was like stepping into heaven. Another chilled bottle of champs and chocolate covered strawberries. The room was clean and just gorgeous! I couldn't wait to get into my slice of heaven. We filled out our cards for breakfast to be delivered versus going to the lobby, turned on our in-room sound machine, and almost immediately lulled to dreamland. In the morning, we enjoyed a lovely Nespresso while we prepared for the day and awaited our breakfast. It was beautifully presented, on-time, and tasty. The hotel is even more beautiful in the sunlight as it is at night. We had the option to take complimentary bikes, but we instead wandered around the beautiful city in foot. We returned after a day of sightseeing, eating (Fleet Landing), and shopping (on Market and King Streets) just in time for the evening wine and cheese reception. Again, another beautiful presentation. The bartender/mixologist did an amazing job! We enjoyed our evening wine and a wonderful assortment on the beautiful patio. We enjoyed dinner out at Church & Union, listened to like music coming from the market and returned for fresh, warm cookies and sherry. On return to our suite, we were greeted by turn-down, and chocolates, as well as our chosen pillows from the Pillow Concierge (MUST do!). I will be preaching a stay at FQ Inn, and it will be a regular destination for me. Southern hospitality at its utmost finest from start to finish. It's better than coming home!

This was our first time in Charleston to celebrate our anniversary and New Years 2021. I am pleasantly surprised by the amenities and hospitality of this quaint hotel. I travel a lot and it is my hobby to stay at nice hotels but this place is probably my favorite hotel thus far. At first, I was nervous about staying at a boutique hotel rather than a non chain hotel such as the Marriott. When you check in, the front desk makes it a point to remember your name and will make dinner reservations at local restuarants if you haven't planned your evening. There are always different types of candy at the front desk, individually wrapped due to Covid. In our room, there was complimentary bottle of champagne for our anniversary. Every evening, there is complimentary wine and cheese night from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Due to covid, there are individually wrapped plates of cheese and meat rather than a common charcuterie board. Every evening, there is complimentary milk and cookies from 8:30 PM to 10 PM. Plus port wine. The cookies are surprisingly good, better than Byrd cookies down the street. Every night, you fill out a card and put it outside your door for complimentary breakfast. This part was underwhelming since the pastries were dry. But I really can't complain given it's free. The hotel itself is quaint and in the heart of downtown near all the restaurants and shops. It is 3 floors with outdoor balconies to sit outside and eat. Bathroom is large with good water pressure and a light up makeup mirror. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable. I wish they had a chaise or couch with a bar cart rather than a small table with 2 uncomfortable chairs.. Valet parking is $34 per night. There is no resort fee. Overall I highly recommend this hotel when you visit Charleston. We will be back next time.

If you are going to stay in Charleston proper this place is well-worth the splurge. It's quite central to everything, yet feels out of the way (it's literally right next to the Charleston City Market but you would never know it while at the hotel). No need for a car if you are staying here, we took Uber (or Lyft) everywhere we couldn't walk to (which wasn't a whole lot) including to and from the airport. In addition to a great location there is a relaxing touch of class to everything about it. Front desk and concierge service is top-notch, as is housekeeping. Yes they have housekeeping twice a day, and you don't even need to ask! One is to "turn down" your sheets in the late afternoon, but they also leave a hand-written weather report for the next day and chocolates, nice touch. Our room was a good size (for two) and well-appointed (there is a "pillow menu"). Floors are not too big which makes for a quieter environment. Even though the hotel is only about 20 years old it feels older due to the well-designed interior which has a lot of nice, warm materials and feels intimate. Not much in the way of views or anything to admire about the exterior of the building, but hey you are in the middle of historic Charleston and should be looking and walking around! A comfy, private retreat in the middle of a busy, historic city.

French Quarter Inn

Beautiful and luxurious place to stay. Hospitality in the South is alive and well at this place. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet and after hours wine and cheese are complimentary regardless of whether you indulge in the lobby are or have it delivered to your room. Can't say enough about this wonderful place.

My husband and I chose this property for our wedding weekend, expecting a memorable and welcoming experience, only to have what should have been one of the happiest occasions of our lives overshadowed by the appalling attitudes and conduct of multiple employees and managers. I live with serious medical conditions that require access to a microwave to warm medical devices and certain medications throughout the night. Rather than approaching this as a legitimate disability-related accommodation request, staff repeatedly treated it as an ordinary amenity issue. At 2 a.m. on our first night, my husband approached the overnight front desk employee to explain my needs. When he returned specifically to THANK her for attempting to help us, she rolled her eyes and sarcastically emphasized the word "need." The wedding coordinator also seemed visibly irritated by our questions about our wedding arrangements, and several members of senior management demonstrated an equally disappointing lack of compassion. Most astonishingly, General Manager Mr. Linder suggested that we relocate to another hotel THE DAY BEFORE OUR WEDDING to accommodate my medical needs. That this was considered an appropriate response by the person responsible for running the property speaks volumes about the standard of hospitality demonstrated by its leadership. I do want to recognize two employees who genuinely made us feel cared for: Mr. Paulussen, who helped facilitate getting my medical needs met, and Duwight, who graciously helped us record our wedding-day first look. Their kindness and professionalism stood in stark contrast to the treatment we received from others. What makes this experience particularly infuriating is that every one of our needs was ultimately met. The problem was never the outcome. It was the appalling manner in which we were treated while trying to get there. Simple requests became exhausting ordeals involving dismissive attitudes, unnecessary resistance, repeated explanations, and escalation through multiple members of management. Instead of enjoying the day before our wedding, my husband spent precious hours advocating for medical accommodations that ultimately proved entirely achievable, while I dealt with the additional physical and emotional toll of the situation. Perhaps most telling is that General Manager Mr. Linder has yet to offer a sincere apology for the unnecessary stress and disruption his handling of the situation caused during our wedding weekend. When the person responsible for setting the standard of hospitality cannot even acknowledge how his decisions affected his guests, it's hardly surprising that other members of his team demonstrate a similar lack of empathy and accountability. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone with an "invisible" disability or chronic medical condition against staying at The Mills House. You may ultimately receive everything you need, as we did, but you should not have to endure disrespect, feel belittled, or be made to feel like an inconvenience simply because your medical needs require some flexibility and understanding. Meeting a guest's needs after making them fight for basic consideration is not exceptional hospitality. It is a failure of hospitality. Beautiful surroundings cannot compensate for leadership that has seemingly forgotten that treating people with dignity, compassion, and respect is the very foundation of this industry. Our wedding weekend deserved far better, and so does every guest who chooses to stay here.

I had no idea what to expect of the rooms. Honestly, we booked this place last minute so I briefly reviewed the pictures and reviews but was just ready to get away. BUT when we got to the room, after self parking at the public garage behind the hotel, we opened the door to the cutest little room. It was sized as if it was in New York City but had cute boho chic charm. It's perfectly located in the middle of everything and the walkability was what we enjoyed most. We walked to all of the best restaurants and shops once we parked, we only left the a garage once the entire time there. We loved the daily breakfast and were intentional about making it downstairs for it. The grits were absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked and once topped with the shredded cheese and fresh cracked pepper, I couldn't get enough! The pastries and biscuits were also very good. The biscuits and pastries tasted like someone's grandma made them. I know this review is long, so I'll stop now even though I could say so much more. We'll definitely return because I failed to try their espresso martini and they boast to have the best. Note: There's a valet option but the self parking seemed easier.
