Staying here was an EXPERIENCE. Recommend for everyone to do at least once, or several times! It's a little more expensive, but it's worth every single bit. This hotel went 110% every single time. The attention to detail is amazing, the service is on point, the butlers are the best, and the room was SO clean and inviting.

Elegance! Complete elegance! A boutique hotel located in Downtown Charleston! Southern hospitality and a place to be totally pampered and it starts as soon as you check-in! Complimentary cocktail as you as you arrive, your own butler who will literally go out of their way to make your stay everything you ever dreamed of! Complimentary breakfast in the morning delivered right to your room if wanted! Turn down service with treats! The hotel is also located in walking distance of many great restaurants and centrally located to all downtown Charleston has to offer! Highly recommend The Spectator, you are in for a total treat! Shout out to Jerry, my butler! He was fantastic!

Okay, WOW! Just Wow! Top notch service, darling boutique hotel. In the thick of everything. From their first text, weeks before arrival to ask if we needed help with anything until to holding our things on a cart while we had one last lunch after checking out. I love this place and the People! We've never stayed in a hotel with full butler service. It was such a luxury. They will make reservations, book tours, press clothes. They sent up champagne for our anniversary when they found out it was that week. We arrived early and the room wasn't ready so we left the bags, car and everything with the valet. When they texted us later to say room was ready we arrived back to every bag logically placed, luggage stands for suitcases and things ready for us to change and get going to dinner. What a treat! They think of everything. Welcome cocktail, umbrellas and dry towels in the lobby on rainy days. Always holding the door, greeting with a smile. Did I mention breakfast in your room daily..... included. And it's delicious, choice of hot full eggs, sausage, potatoes etc or French pastries and fruit or avocado toast! You know what else is included, snacks (delicious cookies, chocolate, chips, gummy bears (personal favorite)) and stocked fridge- water, sparkling water, soda, replaced whenever needed. Chocolate cocktail with your turndown at night. All included! And while it is a little pricey to stay here, rate compared to other Charleston hotels was on par but included so much more! I would highly recommend and I will stay here again! 100% Beautiful bath, comfortable bed with the type of linens you expect, local made wonderful bath products.

I was staying at the French Quarter hotel and wanted to go to their bar for a drink. Unfortunately, they don't really have a good sit-down bar with professional bartenders. But they do have a "sister hotel," the Spectator. And WOW! the Spectator Hotel is over the top of top-notch. It has a regular brigade of professional servers, bartenders, and butlers. The décor is stunning and most pleasing in comfort to me as I leaned back in my classic Chesterfield davenport while enjoying a couple of tasty bourbon Manhattans. And though I didn't stay at Spectator, I did get a look at some of their rooms which were gorgeous and even came with personal butler service. Everything about Spectator Hotel oozes class, elegance, and refinement. If I could, I'd go 6 Yelp stars,

We stopped by the Spectator bar on the way to dinner and we had the best experience! They have comfy seating, and excellent service. Our server was quick to help us and get us our drinks:) We then ordered the charcuterie and fromage and we were wowed by the generous portions. For a good appetizer prior to dinner, I would highly recommend. I definitely plan to return in the future!

First ever and last ever review.. If you know you know. Long and short of it, this hotel is immaculate. Butler service, gourmet breakfast daily to the room, arrival cocktail's, complimentary mini fridge and one of the chillest, casual classy lounges I've been to. Imagine Johnny Cash, Karl Lagerfeld and Dean Martin opened a bar then hired the Kennedy's to Manage the hotel

I was very impressed with this speakeasy era themed bar (not an actual speakeasy). Apparently the bar was incorrectly labeled on maps. Anyways I went there and sat at the bar where I could talk to a very crafty and smart bartender who came up with all the drinks. Every drink was very well crafted and different. You can't find drinks like these anywhere else. The bartender was very good at conversation and the place overall is very low key and easy to carry a conversation.

WOW WOW WOW! This hotel is by far the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. Customer service is superb! The "butlers" assigned to your room treat you like royalty. They go above and beyond for you. There is nothing they cannot accomplish when asked for help. The bar area is absolutely beautiful and the bar tender is extremely knowledgeable on all wines and craft cocktails. The rooms are pristine. I could go on and on about this hotel. I cannot wait to rerun! Worth every single penny.

The Spectator Hotel on State Street in downtown Charleston is gorgeous on the inside. We stopped here for drinks after dinner one evening. We were met with excellent customer service and a cozy 1920s speakeasy style bar. The drinks are pricey but the bartenders are very knowledgeable and they have a large selection of liquor and cocktails.

Expensive but worth it! Lots of little touches like breakfast delivered daily, lots of yummy chocolates, and snacks and a refrigerator full of drinks... all included in the cost of the room. The service was so impressive. The butler was so knowledgeable about restaurants and the areas around the hotel and was super patient and welcoming. They steamed my jacket and had it looking perfect for dinner. The staff couldn't have been more responsive throughout the weekend. The hotel bar was super chic and also great service.

Although it wasn't cabana season or warm enough to get into the pool, the cabana room was really nice and clean. I thought the room was just so cute and loved how the entire hotel was decorated. I was still able to enjoy a couple hours sitting out in the sun by the pool during my stay. They offered an hour of complimentary champagne in the late afternoon which was a nice touch. The hotel has a nice cafe and restaurant attached so you don't have to go far to find some food and coffee. I definitely recommend this hotel and enjoyed our brief time there.

The Mills House is one of the truly classic Charleston hotels. It has gone through a lot of owners in its history. It has been an independent property, a Hyatt, a Wyndham and has had many other flags. Hilton has renovated it a bit but kept most of its eccentricities. The location on Meeting Street not far from King can't be beat. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food and drink are the main restaurant and bar, the Iron Rose, are good. The negatives include the plumbing. On two of the three days we were there over Christmas, the water in the shower was just lukewarm, and the water pressure came and went. The other main negative is the cost of parking, $60 a night. That's a Manhattan price, not what you'd expect in a mid-size Southern city. Still, we like the atmosphere and the history, so we'll stick with five stars.

You're only as strong as your weakest link…read more I've stayed in many hotels for both work and personal travel. The nice amenities, decent gym and friendly staff are what creates the environment for a pleasant experience. Two of these were met and the friendly staff, was mostly there. . .but one sour apple truly changed the course of our stay. Even my wife, who worked once upon a time in hospitality at Kiawah Resort, was started by the interactions from The Loutrel Hotel staff member. Long story short. The daily complimentary breakfast was served. I accidentally went to place the granola lid on the yogurt, my wife told me that was the wrong lid and I went to correct. From across the room the breakfast attendant yelled, "sir that doesn't go there." Startled, I immediately removed it and placed it accordingly. I laughed it off. Moments later I went to sit my breakfast down where my drink was located. Same attendant, "you're not even sitting at the right table with your wife." Again, my error, but don't call me out twice in one morning. It's a small lobby, so many staff members overheard the interaction. Nothing was done by other management. The next morning, I walked down to look at breakfast. I saw the same attendant and said, good morning. She looked at me but wasn't pleasant in her response. Unlike the rest of her colleagues at the restaurant who are polite and kind, the same customer service I expect and provide to my customers. Breakfast offered salmon with some type of eggs or shellfish. I can't eat shellfish, allergic. So, I went to grab a biscuit at a local coffee shop and a coffee. We came back to the hotel and sat our food down. The same rude attendant came over, nudged my wife in her back and said, "you can't have this here, cross contamination." So, I left. Allowed my wife to eat her yogurt in the area. Funny enough, my wife asked where the utensils were, because every table had them. Same attendant rudely, pointed to another table for her to get them. I should have just sat down and ate my food as I didn't see any signs for "no outside food." Either way, stay somewhere else. It's unfortunate that a hotel like this allows such rudeness from a staff member. I did report this to the manager, and online but was met with more passivity. Comped two nights of valet. Honestly, it wasn't enough. I would never stay here again and it ended the trip on such a sour note.

What a nice feeling that is. He asked where we flew in from and we chatted briefly, it turned out we are from the same area, small world indeed. The kitchenette had everything one would need and than some. The bed was comfy, and decor was just enough. But let me tell you about the shower! The water pressure was the best I've had in years! I do not like to waste water but I just wanted to stand there it felt so good. I also like the full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Staff was also kind to give us suggestions and help us plan out our sightseeing so we could take advantage of all the town has to offer. The hotel is located in a perfect part of town not too busy and quiet. It took us 30 min walking to downtown, but there is a free shuttle that makes stops at all the major points and it runs quite often. The bathtub was quite large, enough for both me and my wife to very comfortably bathe in together. The shower was quite spacious as well.
