afternoon tea at hotel Bennett was great! Everything inside was pink making it perfect for a bachelorette group. Tea and food were both tasty

The view from the rooftop at night was really nice. I enjoyed the dim lighting, and the intimate table seating making it a nice date spot. There was also space to lounge and enjoy cocktails with friends. During cooler weather they offer outdoor heaters which is really nice. The service was good overall. The staff made recommendations that were helpful. The menu seemed a bit limited but everything I tasted was flavorful and well made. Shockingly the highlight for me was the chicken wing appetizer and the sauce that accompanied it however I'm sure there is something on the menu that everyone can enjoy.

I went to the Pet Helpers gala at Hotel Bennett for 2024. The place is beautiful. The employees are so friendly and respectful. The beauty in this place is not exaggerated! Class class class! Be prepared! Come stunning! Leave mesmerized!

5 Star Hotel in which some ppl will get 5 star service, and others will not. I have had this review in my drafts for some time because I didn't want to post in haste while I was still emotional about my awful experience there. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are very nice, it's conveniently situated in Charleston for walking to some amazing restaurants and we were there during SEWA which was perfect. It was supposed to be a relaxing weekend away and it turned into a stressful disaster. Valet is mandatory due to parking constraints in Charleston so we valet parked the car and checked in. Check in was smooth, we observed other ppl getting a glass of champagne on arrival, we did not. The bell hop was friendly and helpful and got us situated. There was one chocolate on the pillow, I guess we were supposed to split it. There were an assortment of snacks, water and candies for purchase in the room which I thought was very tacky for the price paid for the room. Alcohol and sodas were also available for purchase which is more typical and expected. Room was clean and had some books as a nod to the fact that the building used to be a library. Cute touch. On our second day we received a courtesy call from the manager on duty that our car had gotten "scratched" while it was being moved in the garage. He requested that we meet him downstairs to witness the scratch and that he would let us know at that time what the process was. We went downstairs and waited around for several minutes before the manager finally met us and the valet pulled the car around. The "scratch" was actually not a scratch at all and ended up requiring the replacement of the entire front panel. At that point the manager apologized and said not to worry, he would have the car parked and send us an email with further instructions. We were kinda of in shock because we thought it was going to be a scratch so we just kind of numbly said ok, and decided we would wait to make any remarks until we received the email. Because at that time we trusted that this upscale hotel would make things right. We took a walk and returned to read the email. It basically stated that the hotel would cover the repair and we could have one night free on our NEXT visit to Charleston. Some valet crashes a luxury car and the hotel basically says they'll pay for a repair. That's it. Umm, you just devalued our car, we now have to find a repair shop, get multiple quotes, be without the car while it's being repaired and drive a wrecked car in the meantime. Plus the delay of finding parts. and our relaxing weekend has turned into phone calls and aggravation. We thought we were being generous by giving them the opportunity to make things right ....and keep in mind this hotel has a rooftop bar, a restaurant, a regular bar, a bakery and a spa on site. And they didn't offer us complimentary dinner, drinks or even send us a bottle of wine as a nice gesture, until I mentioned it and then it took them a whole day and it was a cheap wine which was more insulting than sending nothing. Pitiful. If they had handled things well the first day, we would've been ok with it, not happy but ok. It felt like they were taking advantage of us since we were nice about it and didn't yell or get angry. We will not return there. If you go, you'll probably have a great experience, just expect to pay a lot for basically a nice room. And be prepared to split the one tiny chocolate on your pillow.

My friends and I are visiting and decided to check out Camellias the tea shop inside Hotel Bennett. First off this place is just stunning and so beautiful. We were a party of 12 and my goodness. This is my first time attending a tea party but we had a ball. Everything was tasty and delicious! The Ambience the hotel the service the host the server everything! Don't believe me? I have pictures to share :) Enjoy!!!

I stayed at this wonderful hotel for a weekend trip with my daughter. From the time we stepped through the front doors until the time we left, the experience was exceptional. The staff, what can I say? They are the most friendly and helpful staff I've ever experienced at a hotel. Each one of them, welcomed us with a smile. The food options in the hotel are excellent. From the beautiful pink bar to the coffee/pastry shop never want to leave.

Hotel Bennett is amazing . The pink champagne bar is gorgeous. The staff at front desk ( Drew, Bernard) were very professional and helpful. Fresh flowers are through out the hotel . The rooms are immaculate with a nightly turn down service. Breakfast was perfect and our server Ali was so courteous and the perfect server. I highly recommend Hotel Bennett. The location is in the heart of Charleston with wonderful shops and great restaurants !

Hotel Bennett takes hospitality to the next level. Staff remember you name, and always prove friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautiful and with high quality furnishings and linens. I highly recommend the King's Club addition on the sixth floor as you will find tremendously friendly staff, a variety of food choices, and various beverages available from morning to night, along with a beautiful patio and views of the city. Parking is valet only, which is common in the city.

My review only pertains to the rooftop Lounge as we did not stay at the hotel only stopped in for an afternoon cocktail. The rooftop views are amazing. There are about 10 tables scattered around the roof as well as a full bar and some tables inside. The pool is also on the rooftop. They have a full bar. The cocktails were great the prices were not but you are paying for the view. They have table service and they do serve food. We just ordered some fries while we were there. Overall a great place to have a drink and enjoy the scenery.

My bathroom that was given to me that was the sink. The next is the actual bathroom in the other room. Big difference.

Nice hotel with friendly service when I first arrived they checked me into an ADA room which looked somewhat run down and very different from the hotel pictures. I am supposed to have an upgrade with my card and this somewhat seemed like the opposite. It was nice I had a little patio area, but I was also next to the elevator. I wasn't happy with the room and they switched it. The hotel staff was overall friendly and professional.

The hotel has a nice cafe and restaurant attached so you don't have to go far to find some food and coffee. I definitely recommend this hotel and enjoyed our brief time there.

The Mills House is one of the truly classic Charleston hotels. It has gone through a lot of owners in its history. It has been an independent property, a Hyatt, a Wyndham and has had many other flags. Hilton has renovated it a bit but kept most of its eccentricities. The location on Meeting Street not far from King can't be beat. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food and drink are the main restaurant and bar, the Iron Rose, are good. The negatives include the plumbing. On two of the three days we were there over Christmas, the water in the shower was just lukewarm, and the water pressure came and went. The other main negative is the cost of parking, $60 a night. That's a Manhattan price, not what you'd expect in a mid-size Southern city. Still, we like the atmosphere and the history, so we'll stick with five stars.

There were a lots of bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance. They boast about their butler service, which is pretty unique in the United States (akin to the resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean). We only stayed one night and did not make the most out of it. Our butler was very pleasant and offered detailed recommendations regarding restaurants in the area. The staff is welcoming and friendly. We arrived early and had to wait a few hours until our room was ready. That was a slight nuisance as it was a cold and rainy October weekend in Charleston. Luckily they had plenty of umbrellas for us to use. The welcome cocktails were a nice touch when we were finally able to check-in. Other nice touches include the complimentary drinks, candies and snacks that were already waiting in the room. The turndown service also included chocolate and a small sweet alcoholic drink / shot. Lastly, the included room service breakfast in the morning elevates the stay. A lot of good things. However, I thought the rooms themselves were just okay and a bit dated. Our friends stayed at a boutique hotel with vaulted ceilings and its own kitchenette for less money. Another disappointment was that we booked a room with a small outdoor courtyard, but were given a regular room. Given the weather, we probably wouldn't have used the outdoor space at all, but it would be good to get what you paid for. Overall very good service and location. They have a nice bar by the lobby that we did not make use of. The rooms themselves are just okay and on the small size. I would probably stay somewhere else next time I visit Charleston, even though I have nothing bad to say about The Spectator. Maybe my expectations were too high with a 4.8 / 5 average Yelp score. I just think there's better value elsewhere.

The nice amenities, decent gym and friendly staff are what creates the environment for a pleasant experience. Two of these were met and the friendly staff, was mostly there. . .but one sour apple truly changed the course of our stay. Even my wife, who worked once upon a time in hospitality at Kiawah Resort, was started by the interactions from The Loutrel Hotel staff member. Long story short. The daily complimentary breakfast was served. I accidentally went to place the granola lid on the yogurt, my wife told me that was the wrong lid and I went to correct. From across the room the breakfast attendant yelled, "sir that doesn't go there." Startled, I immediately removed it and placed it accordingly. I laughed it off. Moments later I went to sit my breakfast down where my drink was located. Same attendant, "you're not even sitting at the right table with your wife." Again, my error, but don't call me out twice in one morning. It's a small lobby, so many staff members overheard the interaction. Nothing was done by other management. The next morning, I walked down to look at breakfast. I saw the same attendant and said, good morning. She looked at me but wasn't pleasant in her response. Unlike the rest of her colleagues at the restaurant who are polite and kind, the same customer service I expect and provide to my customers. Breakfast offered salmon with some type of eggs or shellfish. I can't eat shellfish, allergic. So, I went to grab a biscuit at a local coffee shop and a coffee. We came back to the hotel and sat our food down. The same rude attendant came over, nudged my wife in her back and said, "you can't have this here, cross contamination." So, I left. Allowed my wife to eat her yogurt in the area. Funny enough, my wife asked where the utensils were, because every table had them. Same attendant rudely, pointed to another table for her to get them. I should have just sat down and ate my food as I didn't see any signs for "no outside food." Either way, stay somewhere else. It's unfortunate that a hotel like this allows such rudeness from a staff member. I did report this to the manager, and online but was met with more passivity. Comped two nights of valet. Honestly, it wasn't enough. I would never stay here again and it ended the trip on such a sour note.
