Not your average breakfast sandwich with the tomato jam and prosciutto. Call me crazy but the eggs are so fluffy like a cloud. B.E.P.: another breakfast baguette that was amazing! I have family in Paris, as I can honestly say the baguette in France is hard to replicate. Something about fresh bread with butter every morning just makes your whole day better. Even though we are definitely NOT in France, Baguette Magic comes pretty close to the real deal. It is actually owned by a French family, so this is as authentic as you can get it in Charleston. The restaurant is nothing fancy... something like a small sandwich shop you'd see in Paris. Feels familiar and not presumptuous! Bonus - there's plenty of paeki I've only tried the baguette, but I have not had to croissants yet. I know it's highly recommended by other Yelpers, so I think I'll grab a few of those next time I stop by to pick up a few baguettes. This French bakery is delightful! The sandwiches, croissants, baguettes, etc. are all very delicious. My favorite is the tomato pie. Generous sizes and reasonably priced! Very friendly and hardworking staff - I always am greeted right as I walk in the door. The interior space leaves a lot to be desired. It's simple, a bit dated, and just kind of "blah" looking. The interior is wheelchair accessible, which can be hard to come by in Charleston, but navigating through the doors would likely still be a bit difficult. We ordered an omelet and a brie sandwich for a nice little lunch. I can't say we were blown away with either of them, but the baguette they were on was fantastic (guess that's their specialty). We were both absolutely blown away by their frozen/cold drinks. I would honestly go back just for those in the summer! The place was pretty packed on a Saturday afternoon, and it was a bit louder than expected inside. Went for an early walk on the beach and stopped by on our way home. It was our first visit but we will definitely be back. Very clean, smells fresh and delicious when you walk in. Don't mind our bad pictures; we couldn't control ourselves and HAD to eat them in the car on the way home so it was a quick pic before we shoveled it into our mouths!! We all shared and sampled the almond croissant (my favorite), the chocolate croissant (my sons' favorite), and (not pictured because we inhaled it) the strawberry pop tart (my husbands favorite). It was like a homemade toaster strudel x100. So good and fresh!!! You can see them baking in the back. They do have a cafe to order hot food and it all looked delicious. One suggestion is get there early because these delicious goodies don't last long. We went in around 10:30 on a Saturday and a lot was already sold. While visiting from out of town, I came here with a friend for a late lunch on Saturday. The menu seemed to have a lot of great options, but I ended up going with the hangover grits bowl and a latte. The grits bowl had pimento cheese grits, an egg, bacon, cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, etc. Sour cream and pico and grits is really unusual. Not sure if I'd want to try it again, but it was okay. A funky little sandwich shop right along the strip of business on James Island that offers a little bit for everyone. The interior is simple and clean, and they are able to accommodate those who work from their computers, with available outlets and free WiFi. The man working there was very friendly and made sure that everything was great. The salmon and egg sandwich on a croissant was great-t really exceeded my expectations. I honestly thought I'd receive something closer to lox, but was pleasantly surprised that it contained some real hearty meat! It was cooked up with the eggs, too, which made it even better and easier to eat. The dill cream had great flavor and kept it from tasting dry, and the croissant was perfectly buttery and flaky, and larger than I had expected. The coffee was hot, and you can get free refills. Went here for our Anniversary brunch. The food was amazing! There was a cookie dough croissant and that was amazing and filled with cookie dough! We also ordered a side salad, home fries, and I got the BEP and my wife got the Brie-Covery. Both were amazing! So you order up front and you get a beeper for your food to go up to the bar. The only "aggravation" which wasn't enough to lower my score was that it rang every time one thing was ready to pick up. So I got up and walked over 3-4 times to pick things up from the counter. On the last trip to get a box and return the buzzer, I was told to "go get my mask and put it on" by another worker. I understand the proper covid protocols but when you're up and down getting your own food after tipping them 20% tip. I expect the 2 seconds I went up to grab my stuff 4 times wasn't going to be attacked for not having my mask on. Well, I can't say anything about the food as we didn't end up staying. The customer service in this place is down right appalling, bordering on hostile. It was my husband's birthday and we were going to shoot pool at The Break next door to this but they weren't open yet so we popped in here for a quick bite. I'm gluten free so I asked if they could put everything on the sandwich just on the plate and skip the bread. The girl ringing us up was very sweet but the manager was standing behind her with her hands on her hips and said, "no, I can't do that". I was like, "I'll pay the same price. You can't just NOT put it on bread....?" and she was like "no, I can't". Then someone else in our party asked for his sandwich to just exclude the egg. And she insisted she couldn't do that either. At this point our bill was like $75. She was like, "well, we are closing in 5 minutes". Ohhhh... you just didn't want to work 3 minutes past your shift... now I see. They just lost a pretty nice sale and any future sales from us. We didn't know that they were closing or we wouldn't have come in and she could have said, "I'm sorry, we're closing soon so the kitchen is closed" or something. Or lock the doors 15 minutes prior to closing if you don't want the business. If this was my employee I would have been shocked and she would have been fired. If it wasn't for the sweet gal who brings my $40 breakfast to the table (that's the only service you get here) It would have been a 1 star due to the meer nature of how this situation was handled. The food is very good but this situation has me reconsidering the next time I decide to stop in. Generally I would not be taking the time to write this review. But when I decide to patronize and pay my hard earned money for a meal, I do have some healthy expectations of a professional business. And remaining healthy when I leave a restaurant is at the top of my list. Since I friend came to visit this week, I wanted to treat her to a nice breakfast. Upon ordering, the kind and professional young gal took our order at the register. I specified clearly to hold the bacon. You would think that was easy enough. Upon delivery it was evident they did not hold the bacon. The next kind young lady to bring us the plate (this is the only time you get "service" at the table), was now to be the next path of communications. I specifically told her "do not simply remove the bacon, I need a freshly made sandwich." While waiting, I realized I had not been given a receipt (as requested), approached the kind cashier who took the order and a man said, "please stand over there and I will help you." I went "over there" (towards the back of the place nearer the coffee station where I could see into the kitchen) and waited a few minutes - (he never gave me my receipt). The gal who had returned my breakfast was there and asked if everything was ok. I mentioned how I went out of my way to bring a friend I hadn't seen in 2 years for a nice talk and breakfast and now I'm waiting for my breakfast and a receipt as she eats before hers get's cold. She then mentioned my sandwich was already delivered back to my table. I thought.. that was awfully fast, and asked her... "did they make up a new one or simply remove the bacon and return it to the table?" (I'm more than capable of removing bacon from a sandwich...), she replied "I THINK they did." I said, "you think?... I need to KNOW, or you may have to call 911." She said "I didn't know it was that urgent." I said "you shouldn't need to know." WAIT FOR IT...it get's better.. at that point in time the cook or chef looks up and says, "do you still want it?" WOW... A nearly $40 breakfast and this is the form of communications you get at Baguette Magic. If it wasn't for the sweet gal delivering the dish to the table with an "apology" (Sorry I didn't know there was an allergy"- as if it's ok to purposely not "make a new one" upon request from the customer. NOTE TO PROFESSIONALS: (From a professional) If a costumer asks you to make something and hold an ingredient.. you do the job and hold the ingredient. You don't need a list of medications and allergies from a doctor. Just do your job and listen to the costumer and pass it along to the kitchen. And when you or the kitchen makes a mistake and the costumer says "make a new one", listen to the costumer without thinking you need to know their medical history. Safety first always. read more

This place serves delicious breakfast and brunch. I used to be sad they were closed on Tuesdays, but they just updated their hours and are now open Tuesdays! My absolute favorite breakfast pastry here is their chocolate croissant. Perfectly made every time. The berry pastries are good too, but sometimes a little too tart for my tastes. For lunch I really enjoy their salads and sandwiches. The pimento cheese grilled cheese is tasty. I get my son the ham/cheese croissant from the kids menu and I usually eat some of it myself. My friend thought her croissant was very good quality--very flaky and delicious. I also thought my tomato pie was really good. The berry croissant was especially good-- the berry taste was not too overwhelming and the berries tasted so fresh!
