We were staying at the Fairfax Hotel and wanted a quick breakfast before exploring DC. Luckily this gem was only a few minutes walk away. The bagel shop is very small, so be prepared to rub shoulders while waiting in the line. But don't sweat, the line moved fairly quickly. The Korean ahjummas behind the counter are FAST with taking your orders so be ready. And keep it mind it's CASH ONLY. We were very pleased with our bagels: sausage, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel and lox and cheese on sundried tomato. They even offered onion, capers, and tomato without me asking. There were many culinary highlights from my trip to DC this weekend, but the one that was just purely perfect was Bagels, Etc. Bagels, Etc. has the best bagels that I've tried outside of NYC. Both times I went I got an everything bagel with chive cream cheese (my default). They're dense and chewy and have ample amounts of seasoning so you know exactly what kind of bagel you're getting. They have a variety of cream cheese options, all made in house--which makes such a difference in the quality of the cream cheese. Some people have commented on the size of the bagels, but I think they're perfect classic bagel size. They also have a wide range of coffee--from traditional roasts, to french vanilla, to a few other flavored coffees. Fun! I really wanted to try some of the bagel sandwich options, as they had a good variety of bacon, egg, sausage, any-kind-of-breakfast-topping (yup, even avocado!), but I couldn't tear myself away from the bagel-y goodness that was the classic everything bagel with chive cream cheese. Next time I'm in DC, I'll make the trek over to get another bagel from one of my new all-time-favorite bagel joints. read more

It was sort of small but it was super good and I could eat 10 of them in one sitting. If you are enjoy bagles you'll love this place. Not those who like fluffy, chewy bagels, this is your place. I ordered a wheat everything bagel (you read right!) toasted with veggie cream cheese. It was perfect for me. I love texture of the bagels here and the Jalepeno with Scallion cream cheese will get any morning off to a great start. Cash only establishment with a long but fast moving line. Bagels are smaller than you expect from a NYC bagel, but they're just as chewy and delicious. Honestly, I prefer the smaller size. I'm not a huge coffee drinker so I can't tell you if it's good or not. They have a lot of flavors, though, and regular sized cups are $2. Prices are reasonable. The day old bagel bags are very cheap. We were looking for a place to grab a quick breakfast sandwich. Caught the metro and headed out jere5. I see what people are talking about when it comes to the tight spaces in there. I had planned to grab a bagel sandwich but when we walked in the lady mentioned the pancake meal and I'm all about a good pancake. We both decided to get that. It was really good for a great price..I think the meals were like $7 a piece. This included 2 pancakes, eggs, and sausage. Not bad at all. The ordering process was smooth enough, though the lady working the register ignored me as I was trying to hand her my $3 so that she could bark orders at her staff. Any rate, I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese, was handed a to-go bag and then schlepped a mile to my office with luggage in tow. I settle in at my office, open the bag, and realize I've been given a sesame seed bagel with cream cheese and egg. Not a huge deviation from my order and I like egg, so no harm. How this has 4 stars as of my writing this review is beyond me. Bagels etc. has the best no-frills bagels in DC, is affordable, and will have you in and out in a snap. Their style of bagel is definitely unique - medium size, light and fluffy. My girlfriend and I met in DC and love B-etc; we have since moved to NYC (my home town) and I have had bagels that are comparable but by no means surpass theirs. Well, we were on a trip and decided to stop in DC for a quick break and got a chance to get into this little breakfast place which is amazing. We ordered sausage egg and cheese on Onion bagels which is my favorite and thy nailed it. My friend got a chicken omelette with Onion bagel as well. The taste was good, its packed with people and usually has a wait time to stand in line and get the breakfast. Pickup here is an easy option as they dont have too many tables to sit. You gotta be careful about where you park as they dont offer parking and its street parking with paid meters. But this is a great place to stop for breakfast. So go and checkout guys!! I've been coming here on and off for a few years now and while not the best bagels in DC this place is very good. These are not the sourdough bagels you might be more familiar with. These are chewy and a bit on the sweet side. They are also a bit smaller than the bagels at Bethesda Bagels a few blocks away. However this place, while busy, does not get nearly as insane as Bethesda Bagels does. The bagels themselves are quite tasty. I especially like the jalapeno and everything bagels. The bagel sandwiches are a bit small in my opinion but not too pricey so that's okay. I must say the people working here are awesome. They always have such a great attitude and make the place feel very warm and inviting. The one negative is this place doesn't take credit cards but they have an ATM on sight. read more

Please note it is CASH ONLY!!! Came in on a Sunday morning - the line was absurd. And didn't really move anywhere. It was humid and hot in the back too! The line is not well executed. Regardless of the line waited probably 15 minutes and my bagel was ready in minutes. Items are fairly cheap. I got a bagel and cream cheese with tomato and sprouts plus an OJ for around $7. However, the bagel was somewhat small and put together in a rush. They also had a plethora of breakfast sandwiches and pancakes and other options. Which were also surprisingly coming out fast. TIPS: 1) Don't let a long line put you off ... It moves quickly 2) bring cash. I was staying at the Kimpton Palomar across the street and popped in to get breakfast. To my dismay there must have been 30 people in a line snaking all the way to the back of the restaurant. I texted my husband waiting outside to see if he wanted to go somewhere else. In the minute it took to exchange texts, the line had already moved 10 feet. Overall it took about 8 minutes to get through the long line, order, pay $11 for two bagels w/cream cheese + two coffees, and get our food. The day before it took Starbucks 15 minutes and $22 to do the same with 3 people ahead of me in line. The bagels were awesome. They were fresh and properly boiled to deliver a nice chewy feel in your mouth, unlike most bagels that are really just dry bread in a donut shape. They also had a nice variety of bagels ... I was happy to see rye and pumpernickel among the selection. The cream cheese was fresh, light, and fluffy without any hint of a rubbery/gummy texture. They toast and schmear the bagel for you so you aren't fumbling around with a plastic knife and cream cheese packets. Coffee was ok but nothing special. I did appreciate they had fresh half and half, as well as Stevia. Do bring cash. They don't take credit cards. There is an ATM in the store with a $1.50 fee if you are caught out without cash. read more
