Very friendly counter service and excellent bagels. Next time I'm in New York, I will return

I had to wait for my car to be serviced at Bill's Friendly/BP station (which is awesome!), so went across the street to this bagel shop. Overall a good experience but could have been better. Positives, the coffee was good and the scallion cream cheese had a lot of scallions. The bagel itself could have been better. The "skin" was ok but could have been a little chewier and the inside could have been a fluffier but still doughy, which is what I look for in a bagel. There could also have been more of the "everything" on the bagel. Service was fast and friendly so enjoyed it but because of the bagel's shortcomings, 4 stars. read more

Poor customer service. Cashiers will ignore you and proceed with talking to other customers while you're standing there to place your order. Poor experience today and I did let the cashier know but she didn't seem to care. Attention management, just because someone isn't a regular, they should still be given friendly and respectable service as the other customers. Go to Bagel Boss around the corner instead, friendlier service. read more

The Best Bagels period! The nova is fresh and tasty. The salads and sandwiches are phenomenal. Don't worry if there's a line the staff is expert at moving it and it's never long. Mr. Lee, the owner is very nice and friendly as is the entire staff. And the coffee is very, very good. Also you will never find a more authentic old-fashioned bialy. I have not been to Bagels and Bialys since I was a teenager. This was the place to go for good bagels and bialys when I was young and I'm happy to say on this visit they did not disappoint. Both the bialys and bagels I bought were fresh and hot and well made. The server was very nice and helpful. I didn't order any of the smears so I can't speak to those products. There are some tables if you would like to sit there, but most people order to take out. read more

Walking into this place felt like stepping into a deep fryer, and in the short 5 minutes I was there I felt like I was marinated in Eau De Grease. From my clothes down to my nostril hairs, everything reeked of a kitchen that desperately needed a ventilation upgrade. Bagels and Bialys is a no-frills bagel shop serving high quality bagels (...the right way!). If you live on Long Island, you know it's never easy to get a fresh, hot bagel after 8:00am. Luckily, this shop continues to make them throughout the morning. Reviewing the place solely on the bagels, I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. Now on to the service...this is an area that could use significant improvement. The older employees, who used to know what they were doing, have been replaced with poorly trained employees. I want to state that the owner of this bagel shop is extremely nice and hardworking, but he needs to work on his hiring skills. How do you write down a single bagel order on a notepad, get the entire order wrong, and than ask me what I ordered again? It makes no sense, especially when there are no other customers in the store. If they did less gossiping, the service would improve tremendously. read more

On our way to Orient Beach today we decided to stop by a Bagel Shop to grab a quick breakfast. My cousin suggested we come to Bagels and Bialys. One of the greatest decisions we could of made actually. When we went inside, the place was already packed with hungry and loyal customers. We saw their vast menu items and options and order their delicious bagels. Their staff was very knowledge, helpful, and friendly. We had a great customer experience and experience all together. We will definitely come back again if we are ever around the area. We laughed when saw a customer leave with 5 bags of bagels. We said, "we don't blame him at all!" Lol read more

1. No one in a service job should be wearing headphones while they are working and helping customers. It's extremely rude and unfortunately becoming more common. 2. If you don't hear what a customer said, probably because your headphones are in your ears, do not respond with "huh" or "what"? This is my go to bagel spot but it's really come to a point where I will go somewhere else in the morning. It's a shame bc the bagels are great. read more

Bagel places in Long Island are either super dingy or super high end. This place is the former. I've grabbed a bagel here a couple of times and the only thing I can really say is "Meh". The bagels here are sort of bland and small. The spreads are just so-so (maybe pre-made or from a container). The decor and cleanliness of this place might also turn off some (especially with a shiny Bagel Boss nearby). Prices are on par, service was ok but the employees seemed really apathetic on the times I've gone. Probably a hard pass going forward since I can't really see a reason to come again with better options down the street. read more

I like to give everyone a second chance, it's only fair. Well, I went back to Bagels & Bialys this morning. Regrettably. When I walked in the two counter staff were having their breakfast on the counter. They carried on their conversation while I was there and eventually came over to take my order. I got the distinct impression I was interrupting their meal and my presence was not welcome. The bagels were pretty good this time, it's just a shame you have to deal with the attitude of the counter staff. In this day and age where customer service can make or break a business I'm amazing places like this still exist. No third chance from me, this place is not worth it. read more

"On the road again" and yes I was hungry, so it was time to eat. "Bagels and Bialys" seemed like a good choice at the time I was hope this wasn't one of those times. With only curb side parking you need to make sure to get there early if you want a good spot. Heading in I thought the place was going out of business. The place looked dreadful and far from inviting, my only hope was that the food saved the day. Heading to the counter there was only one woman in the back. She was pleasant and did make the visit better, but that was the extent of the fun I would have. I ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel with extra cream cheese. She had no problem with giving me some. So when she finished preparing my food she handed it to my, I paid........wait! I thought maybe I got a drink, she told me $2.75, is that the price for a bagel right now? Can somebody clue me in? I decided it would be best if I ate in my car. Once inside I began to look at the bagel. I asked for cinnamon and raisin, both seemed to be missing from the ingredients. There were hardly any raisins and the bagel lacked a cinnamon taste. The only thing good was the extra cream cheese, but no one gets cream cheese wrong. I was completely disappointed with my breakfast. This is definitely the last time I will be going there. I need a bagel with more presentation next time. read more

Very few places know how to make a proper bialy but this is the real deal - delicious on their own, dressed up with cc & lox or best of all toasted with melted cheese. I'm tempted to give this place a bad review so that it can remain a well-kept secret but I've kept silent long enough. I have been going here for breakfast sandwiches for the past year and have never had a bad experience. Their bagels are always fresh, staff is friendly, and their prices are low compared to their competition. The only issue that I've had is that they can get backed up during the breakfast rush, so I try to come in earlier / later to avoid it. read more

I love going to this place and very much enjoyed their food. This morning when I went I ordered three bagels with egg and bacon the total was supposed to be $11.25 but came out to be $18 not only that but when she put the food in the bag she didn't to ring it up and just walked away and she was being sassy the whole time. My husband and I go here periodically.. the guy is super sweet and always gets our orders correct, the lady not so much. She always always always manages to screw something up- and when we ask to correct the order we pretty much have to wait forever (while our other things get cold and chewy). Yes the places isn't inviting but the bagels are amazing the bacon egg and cheese is so good. The staff is always helpful and polite. The place could use a good scrub down and extermination but I give this place a pass cause the food is so good and they don't try to hide anything. My friends refuse to go there but the bagels and muffins are worth the risk. read more
