Honestly, it's good enough to deserve both names. The potato latkes (or pancakes, depending on what you call them) absolutely stole the show. They came out hot and crispy straight from the fryer, served with sour cream and applesauce--every bite was better than the last. One thing I really appreciated: the owner/chef is very knowledgeable about the ingredients. I eat gluten-free, and he confidently assured me the latkes were gluten-free. I had no issues afterward, which is always the best confirmation. My husband had the pastrami sandwich and loved it. I ordered the brisket with coleslaw and a pickle--very good overall. It was just a touch salty for my taste, but I'd definitely order it again, maybe with sauce next time for a bit of balance. Also worth calling out: the place was absolutely spotless. Again, a complete shame, and if it were my business, I would immediately seek council and sue in federal court for denigration, intentional harm, interference with economic advantage and countless other torts. The steaks are very high quality and some unique cuts of beef (and I'm hard to impress having grown up on a beef cattle farm), yet the prices are the same, if not better than the local grocery stores. Plus, I love being able to have something cut immediately if I need something special or a large amount. They have a really well stocked pantry selection with some very nice imported Italian tomato products and some beautiful basic produce. I often will come here to get what I need to make dinner.
