    Classic Chicken Salad Sandwich
    Kristin M.

This is as good of a New York-style bagel you're going to get in McKinney, TX. (The only place to get the best tasting, most authentic NY bagels is... NYC.) The bagels were nice and big and soft on the inside. The classic chicken salad was elevated by dill and tasted amazing on two slices of toasted sourdough with cheese, bacon, and fresh lettuce and tomato. The Spicy One, a jalapeño cheddar bagel filled with egg, cream cheese, and jalapeños, was also delicious. Don't miss the fresh squeezed lemonade! They offer several flavors. We went with strawberry and it was perfectly tart and not-too-sweet. The staff were great, friendly and helpful answering questions. The restaurant is small, but doesn't feel crowded.

Not sure what has happened but the cinnamon raisin bagels are nowhere near as good as they used to be. Almost a plain bagel now with a hint of what could be. When they first opened they had the best ones and now they are just ok. Please bring back the old recipe.

Love the bagels, staff is amazing! they have a variety of food, not just bagels and spreads.

It's decent. Room for improvement. Want bagels with more books and crannies like that of fresh yeast risen dough offers.

Super patient with us, answered all of our questions, made recommendations, and very attentive. Will ask for her again. The menu was a cornucopia of drinks and eats that sound amazing. We had the pimento cheese spread, two orders of the chicken fried steak and two orders of redfish. Everything was spectacular. We can't wait to go try other items on the menu. While waiting for our table we wondered up to the 3rd floor. They had live music. The place was jumping up there. We are going to have to look up who is going to be playing and have another married date night. The only downside to the evening was unfortunately the host at the front door. He was rude and severely lacking in communication skills. If anything else had me "meh" I would have taken stars away but everything else made up for his shortcomings.

Once seated we waited nearly an hour for the food, and it arrived with one good plate, and a $55 "Wagyu" which was a small, twisted piece of sinewed, chewy meat with cold, soggy veggies and mash. Sent it back, and my wife was finished by the time the replacement came - which again, was about as 'Wag'yu as a pup's tail. They kindly removed cost of my meal, and we got anniversary desert. Nice building and staff working hard - just set your expectations accordingly.

Kudos to him! Now for the food... it was outstanding. Between us we ordered the tacos, chicken fried steak, and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Let's talk about the tacos first. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful, topped with a tasty lime crema and delicious grilled veggies. The loaded fries were the side of choice with that dish and they were so good--crispy, flavorful, and the ranch was absolutely on point (which is very important, ha!). The chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans was so good that there was literally nothing left on the plate. The steak was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the gravy was perfect. The green beans had just a little kick to them which made them fantastic. And the Nashville hot chicken sandwich... wow. It was HUGE (see pic below) and cooked perfectly. The ambiance of the place was also great. It has a welcoming vibe where you can come dressed up for a night out or keep it casual and still feel comfortable. If you're looking for a great dinner spot in downtown McKinney, Sugar Bacon is definitely worth the visit!

It was our first time here, and we appreciated the suggestions we received from Will. We each ordered the Retro plate, fresh pressed OJ, and the cinnamon iced biscuits. All of the food was great! The bacon was cooked perfectly, and my spouse LOVED the smashbrowns! Will came to our table to check in with us a few times, and was always polite and friendly. The restaurant itself looked & felt clean, the bathroom was perfectly clean, we loved all the windows letting in the sunshine. There's also patio seating available, that we'll come back to enjoy on a cooler fall morning. The restaurant is an order up front, take a number, and seat yourself concept, which works for this restaurant model. Overall, we enjoyed our food very much, the atmosphere felt cozy, modern, but somehow still nostalgic, and the biscuits were really wonderful. Next time we stop in, I plan to order and try out their various coffee options!
