The food choices and bagels deserve 3 stars but the service and muffins deserve 5. They have a good selection of bagel and cream cheese flavors but the bagels are quite tiny and nothing special. The bagel cafe really only does bagels, muffins, and coffee so don't expect a diner or a full breakfast. Bagel Cafe was a cute breakfast spot in Camden with ample options and lots of seating inside. I got a bagel with cream cheese and lox and it did not disappoint! The bagels were fresh and the service was quick. The prices here were average for breakfast and it was definitely my favorite breakfast spot in town out of 3 different ones I tried while visiting. This is my all-time favorite breakfast place in Camden. The staff is always so friendly, they *almost* always have what I want (I only say that because usually I'm just late and then they're out) and the food is delicious every time. For someone who can never have enough bagels, I can't go to this place enough. As an obnoxious tourist from VA, when I get free breakfast from a family owned cafe in a small town, I fully expect to be treated like the sun shines from my bodily orifices. This establishment failed to extend me that courtesy. I was also horrified to discover that this is not the exact same experience that has been standardized by the conglomerate city chains that I know and love. (Einstein's and Panera.) Despite the fact that this cafe does make "everything" (aka Italiano) bagels and blueberry, they did not have these options on the day of my visit. This omission robbed me of a stereotypical "Maine" experience, which I have earned simply by drawing breath. The specific texture of the food did not meet with my approval, and I was also disappointed to find that although they carried juice from local bottlers, the citrus fruit ingredients were not locally harvested. I feel that the local climate should be adjusted for the purpose of growing oranges in New England. Despite having no real complaint besides not being treated like royalty and offered 51 flavors of bagel at this small establishment, I have elected to take it upon myself to go online and create a 1-star review that may potentially harm the business of decent, hard working people who fed me while I visited their small town. Actually, scratch all of that. This place is a great spot, with great bagels, and it deserves its status as a locally treasured establishment. Five stars. read more

This is my go to morning place. The bagels are great quality- baked/boiled right on site. They have a broad and innovative selection of bagel flavours from their asiago cheese to dill to everything bagel. They could get to a 5* by utilising some of the wonderful local meat providers for their breakfast sandwiches. Local sausage and bacon would be far better than the frozen bulk stuff comparable to Dunkin Donuts. read more

The bagel cafe is great place to go for a simple, affordable lunch. I always order the sesame bagel with vegetable cream cheese. It's nothing fancy but it is tasty! The service is usually pretty speedy as well. I like to take my little cousins here for lunch sometimes because I know that there will always be something they'll enjoy on the menu. Also, there are coloring books and crayons in the corner. You can order a dozen bagels as well which are great for meetings or large family gatherings. read more

I've been going here for as long as they have been open. Currently on their second ownership (or 3rd?). Went in yesterday for coffee and a bagel and was pleasantly surprised to find they had everything I wanted, even though it was past ten. The wheat everything bagel w veggie cream cheese toasted was very yummy. The young lady who waited on me and didn't appear put off by my unusual morning behavior. They have almond milk and liquid sugar-two things I have a hard time finding even in LA where I live. I took one star off because the iced coffee was a little bitter, as expected without cold brew. If they get cold brew (and/or veggie tofutti) I'll write a new five star review and go gaga for them. Also a good selection of bottled juices and other more portable beverages. I have been a patron at the Bagel Cafe ever since its inception under the ownership of Ken and Laurel Ames many years ago. I have a rarely missed a morning stop in all that time and will confess that if I miss my routine, I feel lost. I was concerned when Ken and Laurel passed the torch on to Bruce and Julie but they have done a fantastic job in maintaining both the simple ambiance of the Cafe as well as the quality of the food. The bagels remain superb and the multitude of offerings and new items are always fresh and delicious. The staff has always been a point of joy for me as casual repartee is all part of the experience of going into the Bagel shop. The folks that work there, whether it's sassy Watson or ebullient Cammy, or the always enjoyable Tyler, make the morning all the more enjoyable. If you haven't had the pleasure of going in for breakfast or lunch, make it a point to check it out and when your there let Julie and Bruce know how you feel. Had a pleasant lunch here during my stay! The staff was friendly and the owners were the sweetest. The cafe had a home-y environment and was comfortable. Perfect location too.
