When your guide book says go to here and Yelp says to go here then you should probably go check it…read moreout. Bodega was a highlight meal for us on our road trip of Ireland. I went for the fish and chips and some soup. I can't recall what kind of soup it was, I want to say cauliflower (I had a lot of soup on the trip). I remember it being quite good and very flavorful. The fish and chips blew my mind though. Both the guide book and the reviews recommended it and I can see why. I'm not a big seafood guy, but when you are in a country that does it well you must try it. I had a lot of fish and chips on this trip, and this was by far the best I've ever had. I don't even really like seafood and I would order this again and again given the option. It was perfectly cooked, the crust was just thick enough, and it had such a delicious flavor. I had to fight my mom and husband from taking it all off my plate. The service was spotty but ok. Our waitress didn't really speak English and had a hard time understanding what we wanted. The bartender/head waitress did a good job of stepping in and helping when needed, but still giving the girl a chance to learn. I don't think our meal suffered in anyway because of the new waitress learning the ropes. If you find yourself in Waterford you would be doing yourself a disservice by not going here. Even you if you aren't hungry, go here still. 90/100

Only downside was the smokers right near the table, but that was intermittent. They do a Prix Fixe before 6:15 on weekends which is a good deal. Try this one!

What a wonderful find! We were hoping to grab a bite to eat after taking the tour at Hook…read moreLighthouse and coming upon Templar's Inn was a wonderful addition to the day. There is a church yard and ruin across the street that caught my eye first. I wanted to stop to take photos. As Templar's Inn parking lot is just across the street it made a great stopping spot and while we were there, we thought 'why not?' and popped in for lunch. Turned out to be a very good idea. It was a late lunch time and still a good number of people were in the bar or restaurant and continued to come and go during our visit. Most were eating lunch, a few were sharing a pot of tea or enjoying a pint. We sat ourselves in the bar area after a pleasant staff member spotted us and invited us to sit where we like. He brought over menus and asked if we knew what we would like to drink. I ordered a pot of tea (my usual) and my SO ordered a pint (his usual). We were given plenty of time to view the menu. Our beves arrived and we were not rushed to make a decision on food, but left to leisurely make our decision. I love that about restaurants 'across the pond.' The menu has a nice variety of option with a preponderance of seafood items. Fish chowder, scampi, catch of the day, mussles along with sandwiches, burgers, chicken dishes, steak and pork. A full menu and the food here is very well prepared. I went with the catch of the day, Breaded Lemon Sole. Lightly breaded, this fish is flaky and moist. The side salad is loaded with a variety of veg and nicely dressed. The fries tasty. I wish I could come back here for another meal. The tea was the best I've had in Ireland and I love how big the pot is for one person. My SO ordered the Breaded Chicken breast burger which he very much enjoyed, along with his pint. I was too busy eating my delicious fish to notice his chicken; sorry. The bartender/waiter was friendly and kept an eye on us from the bar. There were a few other staff members who also checked in with us so we never felt ignored while also never feeling rushed. None of the staff attempted to start a conversation, but when we initiated, they were all very pleasant and happy for a chat and to find out more about us and answer our questions. The rest rooms are behind the bar and accessible from both the bar area and the dining room. They are modern and clean. Seating in the bar area is varied and comfortable. The dining room is bright and sunny with lots of windows. The parking lot is plenty big. Don't pass this place by! As a matter of fact, add it as a stop on your itinerary if you are in the area. Comfortable restaurant / pub, friendly attentive staff and good food.

A recommend stop if you're in the area, great fish and chips. The service is prompt and friendly…read morewith plenty of seating.
