I would say this is a pretty good place at the end of the day for hiking. Portions are large but there's only outdoor seating and we got a lot of bugs. Staff were pretty friendly though. I would get the taco salad, which is basically a fried tortilla bowl with meat on the bottom and salad on top which was really good, but I would stay away from the Indian taco, it had a big piece of bread on the bottom of the taco bowl that was difficult to finish. read more

Cute little tucked-in cantina just outside of Saint Mary's Entrance. It was one of the few places that were opened and just close. It was a nice and quiet place to have lunch, picnic bench seating, and it's very colorful. There weren't much options to choose from, but I was craving for crunch tacos. My boyfriend ordered a beef burrito. I was quite satisfied with my ordered, but the burrito was not even as good as Chipotle according to him. It was like it was microwaved and brought out. It did come out really fast, but because mine was fine I didn't really pay attention. It did it's job and we had a meal before heading back to the hotel. Relaxed outdoor seating restaurant with a decent offering of food and drink items given the location. There was also live music which was outstanding. The prices were quite reasonable as well. The place definitely gets busy at certain times of day with the park rush but the staff and kitchen do their best to keep up. We ordered the Chips and Queso, Snachos, Tacos, and Quesadillas. Not good. Not bad. Just alright. It's Taco Bell style Mexican food, however the food is fresh and clean and there's hot sauce for people who desire a little more heat. Fair warning though, get there early. Due to the pandemic and labor shortage, they run out of food very quickly. I know the sign says they're open from 11-9, but when we went there for lunch, they were closed because the food delivery truck hadn't stopped by yet. When we tried again for dinner, we were lucky and were able to order, even though they had already run of some items we wanted to try. By the time it was 7:15ish, they had completely sold out and anyone who came afterwards was straight out of luck. Line can be a bit long though. This was a nice surprise In the little tourista village on the east end of Glacier National Park's Going to the Sun Road. Tried it because the first few Yelp reviews were more positive than other restaurants in St. Mary. Has a great vibe, as if some Deadheads decided to open a taco stand. The tacos and burrito were delicious, with deep-fried avocado filling in for meat. The seating is picnic tables on a deck. For Craft beer and Cocktails, someone runs next door to Kip's beer garden, another promising spot. I've seen a lot of the negative reviews due to staffing so I thought I'd also leave a review here. I understand the staffing issues going on right now, it is effecting the entire country, but I would also be upset due to a 90-120min wait for food! That said, my visit today was really good. Staff was so nice and my food and drink came out quickly, and it is very busy here today. So they might have righted that complaint already. After having been up in Canada for the past couple of weeks, being able to find a decent Mexican joint back in the States was such a pleasure. This place satisfied our craving for Mexican food. The experience was great, because there was a guy playing live music while we were there and one of the ladies was very helpful. Since they also own and operate the joint next-door, I think there are some logistics issues that could be better here. The staff was many-times difficult to find as they would leave this restaurant area for the other place or go out behind it, etc. I'm not sure why they have it set up that way. The seating is all outdoors, so you do face the issue of having to deal with bugs/mosquitoes and so forth while you eat. I guess it's largely unavoidable, but know that this can be an issue for some. Still, overall the food was pretty good. We had the veggie tacos, fried avocado burrito, and so forth. All of it was pretty good. I probably would give this place a 3 star rating otherwise, but I think due to that Mexican food craving we probably over-enjoyed our lunch here. read more

Where do I start with Bad Frog Cantina... not only did the people who came after us get served before us, but after 45 minutes, the waitress goes back and I hear the cook go "Oh, I haven't started that." Mind you, there were four tables. FOUR. Not twenty, literally four. It was a train wreck of a situation. They couldn't even muster up a simple order of Nachos. We witnessed three customers return to the counter to replace butchered orders. God only knows if they ever got their food, we sure didn't. The back of this place is literally a junk yard. You know that's a bad sign. Atmosphere is a 2 out of 10. Nasty sticky tables. I laid down for a nap and noticed two nails sticking out from the bottom of our table... This little hut is on the west end of Glacier NP in St. Mary, Montana. It is kind of in an alley next to a larger bar. You will need to park at the bar and walk across to the platform. There are a few different options in this area for food if you are tired of cooking on the camp fire, but my wife and I were in the mood for something with some spice. The staff were all young locals - friendly, but kind of apathetic. They were all outside smoking when we got there.. it was a slow night, surprising given all of the rain in the area making it harder to cook at camp. The menu is somewhat small, but has all of the essentials. You do not get any sort of complimentary chips and salsa - that will run you $4. That's kind of disappointing since they are not that good - over fried with supermarket cheese spread. I can't speak for any salsa, since we got the nachos and cheese. The food was OK. We've had better, and definitely had worse. It had a good amount of spice to it, which we like, but not a lot of flavor otherwise. I'm not to sure on the cooking methods. We could hear the microwave running quite a bit from our table outside. The real reason this place didn't get higher stars was the pricing. I know this is a tiny town on the outside of a national park where gas is $0.50/gallon higher than the surrounding towns, but it will run you over $10 for a can of soda and a burrito with no chips or other sides. Not as bad as I expected!! Though it's on an Indian reservation, these are Mexican-style tacos...not those puffy, disgusting Indian abominations. My sister and I shared a burrito and some fried avocado tacos, and everything was fine. Kinda bland, but we had some leftover hot sauce packets from Taco John's to spice it up. This place was absolutely terrible. I had an appetizer called "Snachos" described as tater tot nachos. What came out was a paper bowl of tater tots covered in nacho liquid cheese with nothing else. This might be one of the nastier things I have eaten in my life. Use some real cheese, put some olives, jalapenos, beans, whatever on there. Yuck! My "hard" chicken tacos were incredibly bland. If I concentrated really, really hard, I could tell that maybe a tiny bit of seasoning had been put on the meat. I had better leftover chicken in the cooler in my car, why the hell did I eat here? Also, the "hard" taco shell was very stale, and soft corn tortillas weren't available. The kids that work here seem nice enough, but if you aren't Mexican (they are not), then don't make Mexican food, make something you know well. Also, "nacho cheese" is an invention by either 7-11 or Taco Bell for their crappy nachos. It has no place in a restaurant, and it is best served piping hot in a small cup on the side (piping hot so you can't really taste it, and so it doesn't solidify, and on the side so you don't burn your hands on it). To make nachos: 1. Put some chips on a plate. 2. Cover those chips with REAL cheese. 3. Put another layer of chips over the first layer. 4. Put more cheese on. 5. Bake (convection works well) until cheese melts. 6. Top with beans, olives, tomatoes, and meat. 7. Serve with salsa, guac, and sour cream on the side. Someone who can't pull that off shouldn't be making Mexican food. read more

After we finally ordered, it took 45 minutes for our 4 orders to come. Again, only two other tables were there. Perhaps the cook was taking a siesta? Many paying customers around us were also waiting long periods of time to receive their meal, some leaving because their meals took too long to arrive.
