Direct to the point Breakfast cafe before you head into the park. Straightforward menu for breakfast menu Fast service Ambience - typical rustic - my kind of place when I want to get away of city life.

The sign outside for Park Cafe and the can of sparkling huckleberry water

Looked up restaurants near our hotel and Park Cafe popped up! I saw they had huckleberry pizza and decided we had to try it. We ordered the huckleberry pizza with bacon and took off the chicken. I added the red chili flakes and wow! It was delicious. A sweet and spicy combo and savory with the bacon. The two workers were so friendly and helpful! I loved their shirts (they have them for sale) and the restaurant was very clean. We also got the huckleberry sparkling water which we really enjoyed. I do want to go back to try their pies - they make them there!

Huckleberry pie slice to go ($8)

We arrived after 5pm (dinnertime?) and were told the kitchen was closed because they were short staffed, but we could get dessert to go. Fine by us since we were primarily there for the huckleberry pie. We waited for a menu (yes, for a menu), and then waited a bit for our three pie slices. They also sell whole pies (equal to eight slices), but we didn't think we could scarf down a whole pie in one night. The filling was more of a solidified jam-y consistency sins whole huckleberries. The crust was pretty flaky. If you're a fruit pie purist, this is probably not going to do it for you.

So Montana and the Glacier area is known for their Huckleberry products and everywhere you go, you cannot miss the signs for Huck pies. This was definitely a tourist trap and I felt we were swindled out of $10.50 for the saddest, microwaved huck pie slice that looked like someone slammed a book on it. Not to mention the a la carte ice cream that was gummy and icy at the same time, indicating it's been in the freezer for far too long. The poor waitress was friendly, so that salvaged this from being a 1 star experience. Bottom line, skip the Huck pies, another local ice cream place, Sweet Peaks, has a huckleberry flavor ice cream that was much better.

    Nice diner bar seating.

I mean, it's a cafe. But, the chicken sandwich was actually really good and the cheeseburger wasn't bad either. It's only getting 3 stars and not 4 because you order at the counter but you're paying table service prices. We did try the huckleberry shake. Pretty good! $9 though. Pretty steep.

Came here at 10:30 and was hoping they would have some lunch food, but they said it starts at 11. Got the glacier combo and it was ok. Nothing was bad and nothing stood out.

Over the July 4th weekend went to this place for dinner after a rather long day of hiking. We had tried the mexican place right next door and the cafe across the place, both of which seemed really nice. We ordered the two vegetarian burgers and the two nachos which seemed to be the only vegetarian items on the menu. 15 minutes after ordering we were told that they were out of nachos. At that hour, we couldn't go to an alternate place and ordered another two vegetarian burgers. The vegetarian burgers are supposed to come with chips, avocado and a sauce. When our burgers came out there was none of these and no cheese on them. We had to argue with the server to get basic things which constitute our order. We saw more than a couple of families waiting and leaving after 15 minutes or more. I would not recommend this place at all due to lack of customer appreciation especially with a lot of better options around.

We came here for lunch reading the glowing yelp reviews. I guess everything is all relative? The place is busy, had about 15-20 min wait for a late lunch. All one guy does is take names, set up just cleaned tables and handle the register, and he does this pretty badly. I often see a 2-3 people line at the register to pay, while he ignore them (not even "I'll be there in a minute" as he passed them by). Waiters are sour pusses and hard to get their attention (even though we were sitting at the counters). The cooks were hard working though, we could see them from the kitchen opening that they were constantly moving and cooking. Food... meh about sums it up. We even ordered the "famous" pies (pecan and huckleberry-blueberry) and they're also just okay. I guess I shouldn't expect more of a cafe near a major tourist spot, then I won't be disappointed.

I was disappointed in the food as the wings tasted like they were not made in house and only warmed up and put sauce over them. I felt as if I could have made that at home. The chicken pieces were very tiny in the salad. I'm not sure if they ran out of chicken but they brought over some other chicken to add to the salad that looking like a sad chicken tender. I would probably not go back for the food. There were 3 outdoor tables we could sit at with our dog. As for service: The woman at the counter was not friendly, so I was disappointed in the service. One of the girls who brought over the food was nice, but then we felt awkward with the other waitress who was chatting with the group sitting at the table next to us. My dog was disappointed that the waitress brought over some complimentary water and treats (chicken) for the other dog and not for her haha.

She made mention that it was locally owned, AND it was the only one of the 3 restaurants she named which was open before 4pm, which is when we were there, so we trekked on over. We arrived behind a large party of about 8 people and were the only other table in the restaurant. They - or should I say he - took our order quickly and were willing to accommodate a special request (to have a breakfast dish after their stated cutoff time due to a wheat allergy; almost everything on the lunch menu is breaded/fried, so I couldn't eat it). It was clearly Native-owned, which I was happy to support. However, the poor guy who took our order was the only one in the place. He was doing everything: stocking, cleaning, taking orders, cooking. We were there for nearly an hour when the other party's food came out. By this point, we had figured out that he was flying solo, so we were sort of hoping our food would come out at the same time. It didn't. We asked if ours had been started yet, and it hadn't. Seeing that we were staying 3 hours from the park, we had to leave to meet up with our family without having any lunch. This could easily have been avoided with a little communication from the get-go: "Hey, a large party just came in ahead of you. Just so you know, it's probably going to be an hour or more before you see any food." We would have left then and had time to get lunch before starting our drive back to Augusta. As it was, we paid for our 1 drink, made do with whatever snacks we had, and hit the road. Can't comment on the food and the guy was super nice, so I hate to leave a not-great review, but I can't imagine what would have happened if 2 or more of the parties from our boat ride had arrived at the same time we had. I think a little work on the staffing side would do wonders.

Probably the best we've ever had - All the foods we've order tasted great (chicken, bison steak, ribeye, t-bone, crab meat) - All locally sourced foods - Nice Ambiance and love all the wood structures. Cons: - Not sure if I'd consider this a con, but everyone we've dinned here, something is always different (different salad toppings, different sautéed veggies). But I completely understand being it's in the middle of "no where." - Very pricey, but once again, they're not opened year round and it's all locally sourced. You would probably pay the same price in the city for high quality meat, but at least here you're helping a small community! - My only con- I prefer my steaks with no pink and well done (I know, I know). Cut into your steak as soon as you get if you're like me so you can see if they need to cook it more. You're steak will most likely be undercooked, but it's because they're THICK pieces of meat (which is a pro) We will be back the next time we're in Glacier ^_^ 2022- 2024
