We came to Bad Axe as part of our sixth wedding anniversary weekend away (I mean 6th anniversary gift is iron so...). We had a TON of fun. Went on a Sunday afternoon and it was not crowded at all. Quickly got a lane, some drinks, and a quick tutorial. The facilities were all clean and the staff was sure to swing by, cheer you on, and even give additional tips and tricks for other fun ways to swing an axe (or throw a knife). We had a blast and will absolutely be back again! read more

I had wanted to go axe throwing for the longest!! My boyfriend suggested that we go on a date here and I agreed. There isn't free parking onsite so you'll have to pay or park and then walk. When we entered the atmosphere was open and inviting. The man working was very friendly and answered any questions that we had. He offered drink selections. He showed us our area and gave us instructions. I let him know that I'd never done any axe throwing and I was nervous about throwing it. He watched us for the first few throws and gave instructions and guided us. As we played he told us about some of the games that we could play. We tried "Cornhole" it was a LOT of fun. Toward the end, the worker told us of some other throwing methods. We freestyled for the last ten minutes and I got both targets!! I have already recommended this place and I plan to revisit with more people. read more

Fun to try this out for the first time over the weekend. it was not busy and we were able to walk in and get a spot for 4! They serve some drinks, we ate before so not sure on food options. it could have had music playing in the background maybe something fun to make it a little more up beat. Had a little confusion on the location since it was at ratchets to the parking garage. Might be back with more friends again. The staff at Bad Axe Charlotte are so incredibly knowledgeable and attentive. While visiting other axe throwing facilities, you're given initial instruction and left to it. Not here. The staff makes their rounds helping everyone and the Manager Sam is even the Reigning World Axe Throwing Champ himself, how cool! There's a massive parking deck in the same building AND a parking lot across the street, so no issues there. Leagues started a couple of weeks ago and have been an absolute blast. The community is like no other. So happy to finally have a WATL venue in Charlotte! read more

Place overall was cool, lots of throwing lanes. Had to walk all the way to the back to find someone. Very little signage or directions. Our party enjoyed ourselves, but started off a little annoyed. See below Reservation Policy Sucks------Being proactive, I made a reservation for 4. When we arrived the place was completely empty in which I asked if it would be okay to convert my reservation over into a walk-in. I was told to call customer service, then customer service would have to call someone. Couldn't believe I was being asked to call someone within the establishment. In the end, I was told that our deposit would go towards 2, and the other 2 would pay a walk-in fee. This was not cool, we were only there for 1 hour and had no plans of staying for the 2 hours being our plans changed. Being a small business I understand but this was not cool at all.... To make matters worse, when we left the place was still empty.. My advice to anyone, take your chances walking in. read more

This place is not worth the money. The website says it is "BYOB" but when you get there you find out not only it is not BYOB but their beer selections also sucks. It looks like they sent a college kid to a stop 'n rob and told them "buy 5 cases of beer: three bud lights and two 'craft' options." So you have Bud Light and two crappy IPAs in cans; oh joy! While we were there I observed a manager blatantly ignore customers while doing homework on her laptop and pull an employee away from other customers who were not getting the hang of things. Not only is this poor management it is a safety risk. They do not take cash payments which isn't only annoying it's illegal. The parking sucks. Oh and don't expect to be greeted at the door; you have to walk past multiple throwing lanes to get all the way to the back of the establishment to check in. Again, not only annoying but also a safety issue. I'm positive you would have more fun in your backyard with a $20 axe from Home Depot and a six pack of your favorite beer. read more

This place was super fun! We went in on a Saturday afternoon around 4pm and there was no wait. It was about $28 dollars per person for 45 minutes. Please don't quote me on that. It could have been $24. I don't remember. Anyway our coach was super helpful and down to earth. They had some wine, ale, soft drink offerings but no food. My friends and I had a great time Axe Throwing here! We went on a Sunday evening around 5pm and we were only sharing the space with one other group. Scott was our coach and he was great! He even let us try out the daggers, which I have to say were even more satisfying than the axe when they hit the wood. When we go back, we will for sure upgrade to those!! Horrible customer service!! Made an appointment for a total of 4 people but by default they charge you the highest valued package. We were not informed of this and were charged nearly $200. tried to call and ask why if the walk in price is $27 per person And was told it's our fault for scheduling ahead.... absolutely horrible don't let them scam you!!!! they never informed us until at the end they said we still owe $94 after the Mobil "deposit". ridiculous. read more

Saw that were opening after being postponed due to COVID so I stopped by on the first night. I had a great time, I've thrown at the other axe places in town and this style throwing (WATL) is different and took some getting used to, but the general manager is the reigning world champion and stopped over and gave some tips. The facility is big and beautiful, with great viewing from the sides for your group. The beer selection left something to be desired but I know they hastily opened without much notice did to NC's phased reopening plan, so I'm sure it will get better. Parking uptown is never fun, but they do have 2 huge lots right across the street. Hint, one is 40% cheaper in the evening! I'm sure I'll be back! read more

It was a Saturday evening and we put our name on the wait list at 545p and finally got a lane at 8p. SO I recommend reserving in advance if you can. The first thing I noticed was the very visible Rock Hill PD Cruisers out front. There were three of them and there was an uniformed officer stationed at the front door. Yes, you and your family will feel safe here. It's got a massive Arcade, think Dave & Busters level with electronic games for kids & adults of all ages. The big balloon claw pick up was very popular. They do the 'card swipe' so you can purchase and reload with value and when you 'win' the ticket value is credited back to the card or they have a prize exchange area. A huge bar with wide screen TV's very prominent in the center of the facility and just adjacent to the kitchen where you an order Pizza, Wings, Tenders and fries and yes they serve beer. If you like the idea of throwing an axe, they got you. I also liked the retro Pac-Man and Galaga game that are 'huge'! There are 14 bowling lanes and each has a huge HDTV over it and there is another one over the end of each lane. We watched the Commanders take down the Lions in an epic NFC division play-off game. It's computerized and automated so you have a touch screen at your lane table where you start your round and order your food. A very prominent video screen above so you can track your score. What's very different is the use of Robots to deliver the food.They also have attendants to bring the beverages, napkins, straws and check on you from time to time. Roaming CSR's available to answer questions and solve problems. We had pizza, chicken tenders and fries and I was surprised at how good the meat lover pizza was. I also like that they have the weight of each ball prominently stenciled on each ball and there are lots of choices. We all commented on how quickly the ball gets returned and the pins are re-set. It really helps to keep the pace of your round. In the winter time, this is a great place to gather with family and friends for a good time out of the weather.

Last night, my family and I visited this establishment to celebrate my mother's birthday with an evening of bowling. We were accompanied by our children and grandchildren and were looking forward to a fun family outing. We ordered food while bowling during our one-hour lane reservation. The food arrived about 30 minutes later, which was reasonable given how busy the venue appeared to be. Our server was excellent--friendly, attentive, and professional throughout our visit. The only issue with the food was an order of fried pickles that were severely overcooked. They were so hard that they were difficult to eat. I mentioned this to our server, who apologized and said she would speak with the manager. I was not seeking a refund or a replacement; I simply expected the manager to come speak with me directly regarding the concern. Unfortunately, the restaurant manager chose not to address me personally. Instead, another manager approached and apologized on their behalf. During the conversation, I was told that I should have returned the food sooner. That response made little sense given that we were actively bowling and participating in the activity we had paid for. It seemed unreasonable to expect customers to leave their game to track down a manager over a side dish, especially when the issue had already been communicated through our server. While I appreciated the apology from the second manager, I expressed that avoiding a direct conversation with a customer reflected poor customer service. Customers deserve to feel heard when they raise a concern, regardless of how minor the issue may seem. What was most disappointing was not the overcooked food, but the lack of accountability and communication from the manager responsible for the restaurant. A simple conversation could have easily resolved the situation and left a positive impression. Because of this experience, I cannot recommend this establishment. Good customer service is about listening to customers, addressing concerns directly, and taking ownership when issues arise. Unfortunately, that did not happen during our visit.

This is one of the most beautiful parks I've had the pleasure of visiting. There are beautiful views, playgrounds and lawn space for children's play, plenty of parking, trails for walking/bike riding, several bridges, and large trees to compliment the fields. The park is well-kept as everyone here ensures cleanliness and top maintenance. There are also several developed facilities including basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball, picnic shelters with restrooms and three soccer fields. Walking to play, the floors were sticky from drink spills. In theory, having bars on the courses is a great idea, but in practice it slows everything down. If the group ahead of you doesn't enter their score, the game stalls unless someone from the next group inputs it or a staff member comes over. We had to figure that out on our own. On my previous visits the staff explained how the scoring worked, but that didn't happen this time. Three groups ahead of mine didn't know how to enter their scores or forgot, so they just stopped playing. I also think the reservations could be spaced out better. Groups ended up stacked on top of each other waiting for the same hole. Thankfully, everyone was still pleasant about it. I'd definitely go back, but I hope they make a few operational improvements.

I was so scared at my first lesson, but pushed through my fear and I'm so happy I did. Jeanne is a patient and thoughtful instructor and she has a clear connection with the horses. She also wanted to understand my goals and matched me with the right horse. Lastly, I feel completely safe on and around the horses and my favorite part of the lesson is grooming the horse afterwards. Her farm is also a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city, but so close - 15 minutes from Uptown. On the days when I have lessons, all the stress of the day melts away as soon as I hit the gravel driveway. If you're looking for lessons for yourself or your kids, I highly recommend Charlotte Equestrian Club.

Lights, Camera, DRAGONS!!!!!…read more While visiting Charlotte planning my trip to charlotte I noticed the Children's Theatre of Charlotte was putting on one of my daughter's favorite children's book, Dragons Love Tacos! I bought tickets before we even had a hotel booked! We arrived the day of with our dragon in hand (that came with our copy of Dragons Love Tacos 2) and my toddler son decked out in his dragon sweat suit. We were ready! Our show was on a Saturday at 3pm. If you arrived at 2pm there was a free behind the scenes tour of the theater. We of course took full advantage! 2pm we were squished with many of the other patrons all ready for the free tour. We were greeted and then moved into the theater. It seamed like over half the audience that day showed up for the tour! This made it difficult to move as a group through the backstage and hear everything being said. Was it cool to see where they make the sets and store the props? Yes! It was great feature I am thankful they offered but maybe needs more organizing for large groups. Another little tip for their tour guides, don't tell us what we cant see (costume area) because of the large group. Just bummed me out (and if it wasn't said I wouldn't have thought we missed out!) Also it was posed before the show arts and crafts available. Once the tour ended we were asking around about the crafts. we saw people with crafts. People had no idea! More organization needed as the crafts were taking place inside the library! We showed up with only a few minutes to do crafts because we wasted time asking people about the crafts! The show... not totally like the book but close. My 10 year old thought it was a little too young for her and my 1 year old was quiet for the whole hour! The 4 year old with us, he was mesmerized! So I would suggest when they say children's, aim for kids under 8 here. The production was pretty good with great visuals and a great destruction scene! This is not low budget by any means. Cool thing they did, after the show they let people stay behind and showed how the crew talks to one another on their headsets to make the action happen on stage! (This was geared more toward a 10 year old as opposed to a 4 year old understand what was really happening.) What could have been better? Let people enjoy the show more. The staff working in the audience were intense. I was approached by a kid, like 12 years old, who told me I couldn't give my 1 year old his bottle and the other two kids had to put away their candy. At no point at the beginning of the show was an announcement made about food/drinks in the auditorium. I am a rule follower. I would oblige. But not letting my 1 year old get his bottle seams a lot ridiculous! I kept watching the ushers go up to many other patrons about use of cell phones and everything else. It was distracting. Calm down folks. We came for the dragons. Speaking of which, I told my daughter when we bought the tickets: I don't know how they will make dragons appear on stage so it could be amazing or terrible but either way we will never forget what we will see. Truth: we will never forget. (The Dads wholeheartedly agree!)
