There are lots of great things about this restaurant and just a few issues…read more We were a group of five, 3 adults, 2 preteens. We were welcomed nicely, lead to a fairly quiet round table. Shortly after our waitress stopped by for drink orders and another large group of women were seated right next to us. We could barely hear each other. The entire rest of the room was empty! But they got seated less than 2 feet away. I know they were having a good time, us, not so much. Hostess tip: in this type of instance don't stack people on top of each other. There was plenty of space to spread us out. We ordered appetizers and dinners. appetizers were delicious: peel n eat shrimp, spinach artichoke dip and calamari (my grandson wanted it!) Dinners ordered: Beef Wellington, salmon (ordered blackened), Cajun chicken Alfredo, child's beef tips and chicken basket. All the dinners were great, as well as the asparagus, BUT, the salads greens were brown. I even pointed it out to the waitress, but they didn't seem very concerned. I even thought they might offer a small discount, it was that bad. For the five dinner with tip was over $225. You certainly can eat for less, beef Wellington alone was $50. All in all, beautiful setting, cozy dining room. Friendly staff. We will go back sometime.

The atmosphere was cozy with modern touches scattered throughout which added a nice touch. Our waitress was very friendly and went above and beyond to answer any questions we presented. The food was irresistible at first sight and their menu, so many unique options, I found myself looking forward to several items to try on my next visit from the appetizers alone. If you find yourself passing through or even enjoying a night out in the Cheat Lake area I do think this is a must visit!

Started off with mussels which had a fowl odor and tasted sour. It was not the broth or spices, it was more of an expired fishy taste. I got the "american waygu" steak feature. It came out raw on the inside and burnt on the outside. There was no coffee rub taste on the outside. The meat was very hard to chew. I ended up choking on a piece and pulling it out of my throat in a string of meat. The zucchini was under cooked. The mashed potatoes were good and authentic. The crab cake was pretty good too. I liked the buttery flavor of the crab. For dessert we did a coffee mousse that did not disappoint. The atmosphere was very loud. It was hard to talk to the people in our party of 3 as there isnt much in the restaurant to absorb sound. The bartender was very friendly and good at making cocktails. Bathrooms were not clean. Will not be coming back

Inside, there's a fireplace that is pleasant to stand in front of (I was cold, so that's what I did), the bar looks like a tiki hut, and at the host stand, there's a tank with some turtles in it. It's a very relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. However, the food was mid. They've got burgers and pizza and sandwiches, which make up most of the menu, but they also have seafood and pasta dishes. I got the pulled pork sandwich, and it was super sweet. Way too sweet! And it was topped with shredded cheese that I could tell was pre-shredded and came from a bag. The fries that came with my sandwich were super seasoned. Way too seasoned! Everything about my meal was "way too." We also got the WV Wedge salad, which apparently is one of their specialties. It was aiight. Instead of bleu cheese like a typical wedge, this one came with both ranch and Italian dressing, plus pieces of steak. My kids enjoyed their grilled cheese sandwiches and cheeseburgers from the kids' menu. One thing that's interesting about the kids' menu here is that steak is an option! (Well, steak tips.) We visited Dockside in the offseason, but apparently this place gets extremely busy during the summer, when everyone wants to be on the lake.
