This place did not look like much from the outside and it's simple and straightforward inside. However, they made some of the best Detroit pizza I've ever eaten. Perfect portions and the flavors paired with the beautifully prepared crust topped off with deliciousness of ingredients. The fries paired well with the pizza along with the house ranch which is as close to my home made as I've ever enjoyed. Will definitely be back to enjoy the excellent food. Service could use some help - our server kept playing with her hair in front of the mirror behind the bar, never once washing her hands and she spent a good amount time there between tables. read more

Found this spot after seeing several reviews online and wanted to check it out for the detroit style pizza. it was excellent i got the notorious PIG and a peach wheat draft both were great. i had no complaints the staff was super friendly. it's dark and cozy in there which i loved. i would highly recommend checking this place out and might have to come back the next time i'm in town. read more

Stopped by for lunch with work friends based on a recommendation from a WVU alum. The wings were plump and juicy. We ordered two pizzas to share "family style" - the House Special and Notorious PIG - Detroit style - loved them both. The pizzas were big enough to share but you may not want to. I don't even know where to begin. The food is spectacular! Everything is so fresh and always served warm. The Detroit style pizza is TO DIE FOR. Their sauce is sweet and tangy which provides a flavorful experience. The pepperoni rolls had some melty cheese and were the perfect combination of breading, cheese, and pepperoni. The pepperoni salad was delicious! The lettuce was crisp and flavorful. No wilted lettuce in this salad! The service was great! The wait staff is so friendly, quick, and have great recommendations. The owner was even out talking to customers, making sure everyone was happy. The ambiance was very enjoyable. Everything is clean, upbeat, and modern. This restaurant is somewhat hidden in a small plaza. If you don't know what you are looking for you will miss it. Upon entering, we noticed the place was bustling with most of the seats taken. We were fortunate and were seated immediately. The setting was welcoming, but a little dark. The dining area had around 12 tables and the bar around 15 seats. With limited seating, I would make a reservation. We had both the Tavern and Detroit Pizza. You cannot go wrong with either one. The waitstaff was prompt and nice. Based on how busy the restaurant was the food came out quickly and cooked as expected. We will be returning to Lefty's. We will get the pizza again, but we will also be trying the chicken wings. read more

Super bowl Sunday, Tony and I found ourselves in Morgantown. After enjoying Appetizers at Wicked Water Saloon, we decided to drive over to Lefty's Place for some Detroit Deep Dish Pizza. We found it hidden in a shopping center behind Suncrest Cafe. There is plenty of ample paved parking. Inside it's average size with about a dozen tables & chairs. Love the decor! The staff friendly and attentive. Tony ended up with 2 Budweisers and I had my Coca Cola. We ordered the small (8"x10") Detroit Deep Dish Pizza....it was loaded with sauce served on top. Very delicious pizza and definitely different but still great pizza. Highly recommend.....go get you some!!!! read more

The crust on the Detroit style pizza was really good - nice and crispy with great texture and flavor. We had the house special. My daughter had the buffalo ranch boneless wings and they were really good. The chicken was good quality chicken with just the right amount of crunch. The sauce has a great flavor with a kick. It definitely leaves your mouth tingling, but not in a bad way. Just the right amount of spice. The place was bumping and the service was spot on from the time we entered. It's a small place with a bar and a good 10 tables or so. It's definitely worth a trip. For those who don't love Detroit style, they offer your standard pizza as well. We will be back to try the other pizza, but we will definitely have the wings again and try some new sauces. One other thing worth noting - the lighting inside is very dim. read more

For bar food, this is a pretty good spot. 4 stars is heavily dependent on what you order. But overall, I enjoyed my experience here more than other places in Morgantown. Coming in on a Tuesday at 3pm, it's pretty dead. While I will soon learn that this is the trend with eating anywhere during the week in Morgantown, its never easy walking in and being the only group there. Service was one bartender and she was great. Matter of fact when it came to receiving our order, but ended up having a 20 minute conversation with us once she found out we were out of towners. The wings here are pretty good. Juicy meat, tender texture, a good mix of drumsticks and flats, with a decent crispy skin. The garlic wings were the best. The Dixie golden mustard were good, while the voodoo wings were just ok. The fried mozzarella could have been more rendered and gooey, but it's two steps up from string cheese. The breading was straight breadcrumbs and Italian seasoning, but the texture was consistent. The Detroit style pizza hits the spot, but isn't the best you will ever have. A good red sauce that's savory and sweet, a sausage that actually has a bold greasy taste, cheese thats not overly oily, a decent amount of cheese pan charring, and a substantial bread. Probably the biggest complaint is the bread is more dense than I'm use to. I also question whether they are using Wisconsin brick cheddar. For Morgantown, it's better than I expected and will certainly be better than Little Caesar's. read more

Stopped here on a Saturday night for dinner. Kind of a small place in general - not much room for a huge group but enough seating for groups and those who want to sit at the bar. I like the dark interior and dim lighting. Bar is cool looking too. Ordered a Coke float mixed drink which was really good and I would get it again. I can't recall the ingredients other than coke and cream at the top. For an appetizer we shared the fried mozzarella triangles. Really really good - I liked the breading and the fry on them and the sauce was tangy. For dinner I got the Detroit style pizza (4 slices) and it had pepperoni/sausage/bacon. This was like a gourmet Little Caesars. Really good - and I would recommend this every time. I also got a chance to try the Buffalo chicken calzone which to be honest - wasn't really a traditional calzone. It was more of a pizza sandwich but the flavor was really on the mark. Lefty's Place in Morgantown offers the best opportunity for me to have pizza similar to what I had growing up in the midwest. Lefty's calls it Tavern style, back home it was St. Louis style.
