To be continued. We stopped by for donuts, and will not be back for donuts. We get fresh donuts on a whim, and we had grabbed a box of 4 and ate them at our home. I kept it simple and got a chocolate round. The consistency of the donut was a little dense and tasted almost stale and flavorless. I ended up tossing the last few bites, which is a first. My husband got a wild card donut, their peaches and cream raised, and it was a standout star. The texture and consistency of the donut were classic, light. The flavors seemed balanced, and not too sweet despite the peachy-o ring on top. If all the donuts compared to this one, this review would be incredibly different. But, the other 3 were all duds, so much that I'm curious if by accident we chose the day oldies. This was my first time visiting since sometime in 2021 and I wasn't a fan at that time, but I'm glad we decided to grab dinner from the Backyard Bird the other night and try it again. I was impressed with their expanded menu. The chicken is juicy and delicious. The Brussels sprouts were also delicious. And I'm going to need a cheddar biscuit every time I go now! Ordered food through DoorDash. Came as fast as we expected. Cold chicken. Tasted amazing. Cold though. Mashed potatoes couldn't be scooped with a spoon. Like water and no flavor. Literally couldn't get on a spoon. Everything else was bland and cold. I was going to call and talk about it but I shouldn't have to. Fried chicken breast was juicy and flavorful, with a crispy coating. Coating had a sweetness to it, which was surprising but actually enjoyable. I suppose it makes sense for a chicken & donuts place. Waffle fries were excellent. They are cooked with a curly fries type of coating, and sprinkled with flaked salt to make them a winner. Chicken sandwiches were pretty good, but Nashville hot wasn't especially Nashville hot, and the comeback sauce on the Which Came First also wasn't very spicy, despite being marked as a spicy sandwich. Been here several times. Eat in and carry out. I've never had a bad experience! Best damn fried chicken in NoCo! I've had all the sandwiches and we have had several family meals takeout. Sides are always great! Their Mac and Cheese is superb! The donuts are great!! I'm always getting texts for deals and meals, hoping one day my schedule will line up and I'll get a family meals takeout! If you like fried chicken you will not be disappointed here. I want to think this place is better on other days and maybe it is. The donuts were decent... but our chicken and sandwich and Mac n cheese and I swear even my water wasn't tasting right lol. (Maybe the machine isn't being serviced properly but it was low on ice and one of the drinks seemed out of carb too). Anyway my chicken looked and tasted burned, like the oil was old or the oil was burned? It was very dry and not flavorful. We didn't like any of it and we wouldn't go back :( But again, I'm hoping it was a bad day, it was certainly later in the evening with a low staff and no managers I don't think. The guy cooking had a *long dangling beard with no beard cover* (which always grosses me out). Purple lemonade was tasty. What a crazy concept. Had to try the fried chicken and of course the donuts. And wow both were fantastic. The fried chicken is just simply delicious with a nice crispy skin, a drizzle of honey and a little rosemary. Delicious and interesting selection of scratch donuts. Can't crow too much about the chicken here. The Nashville chicken sandwich was slightly spicy but the chicken was so cooked that you basically were biting into crunch instead of meat. The bun was good but the chicken was just cooked too much and it has that dried out texture / taste to it. Same thing with the chicken fingers. My dining partner couldn't even finish one quarter of them because they were so overcooked. Plus we come from a part of the country where chicken fingers are always premium white meat. We love this place. The chicken sandwiches are the best around. They use a thigh instead of breast meat so they're moist and more flavorful. The waffle fries are a family favorite with the garlic aioli and we make sure we get the donuts every month so we can try them all. I don't understand the negative reviews. I've been there over 50 times and always great. I guess the McDonald's crowd has a hard time appreciating fresh,local and made from scratch. read more

We ordered the garlic aioli waffle fries to start off our food-venture and it was an excellent choice! They came out fast, hot, crispy, with plenty of sauce. The garlic aioli sauce was flavorful but not acidic or overpowering like some garlic sauces can be. I'm very interested in trying the kimchi grilled cheese but didn't see a price. We saw this place from the road so we decided to try their food. HORRIBLE! I've tasted better chicken from Popeyes and Jim's wings than this. I would have given it 3 stars based on food, but it gets the 4th star for the ambiance/staff/being local. Pretty cute chicken & donut place in a plaza. And you definitely get the local vibes the way they have a seasonal menu, friendly staff, and I even saw that children eat free on Thursdays(?). The food that was good: their waffle fries!! Well seasoned and the right amount of crispy. Their homemade ranch was my favorite sauce they had. Their food that was so-so: Their chicken... Maybe it's a hit/miss thing, but it doesn't seem consistent in how moist it is. I tried their bacon fat chicken wings, which were surprisingly dry. The sandwich we got wasn't as bad. However, both were lacking in flavor. Their Mac and cheese was also just so-so imo. Needs more flavor and texture... My little nephews would have loved the mac n cheese though lol. We ordered two of their breakfast sandwiches (the Standard and the Hangover) as well as four of their donuts (cinnamon sugar, chocolate glazed, vanilla glazed, and their July specialty flavor - strawberry glazed with cream and blueberries). Overall takeaway: Everything was good...not great. Donut note - if you prefer airy raised donuts, this place is NOT for you. Their raised donuts are very heavy and cakey plus they have an odd lemon undertone. Their breakfast sandwiches are also just OK. The first time we went here it was some of the best chicken I've ever had, but the last two times have been very disappointing. These are the "Chicken Strips" we were given. They were basically scraps from other cuts of chicken and tasted pretty bad with lots of fat and gristle :( the picture shows what they brought the second time after complaining the first time about the strips being burnt. Don't think we'll be returning sadly. Fries are a 10/10 though. read more

This place is a gem! I had the white meat plate. The breast was juicy with a lightly honey sweetened breading that was beyond delicious. And crispy! Bacon wings were a hit. Even with kids. I chose the mashed with bacon gravy for a side along with Brussels sprouts and a biscuit. The sprouts were so good! They're shredded and tender, so they're not bitter or burned. They topping was thick meaty cuts of bacon cooked to perfection. The potatoes were pretty good. I enjoyed the biscuit in the bacon gravy and wondered if that was on the breakfast menu. (Yes, they serve breakfast too) They have unique, assuming local, sodas. We got a kick out of the pineapple cream soda. Their dining room is tiny, but if you're cool with sitting on stools at a 'bar', there is a lot of opportunity. There are a few tables and booths inside as well. What a great find! Stopped in for some lunch and grabbed a donut and sandwiches. I went with the s'more dossant and the dirty bird with a fried chicken thigh on a potato bun. The dossant was the most airy, and flavorful dossant I have ever had! It was filled with marshmallow and topped with chocolate and graham crackers. It was phenomenal! The chicken sandwiches were unbelievably crispy, moist, and flavorful. I have never had a chicken sandwich be so crispy and taste so fresh! They use local honey in their batter which gives a great, but not so abrasive, sweet taste. If you like caramelized onions the Dirty Bird is the way to go! They are very caramelized and pair perfectly with the chicken. The inside had plenty of seating, as did their patio area. Can't wait to come again to try more menu items! read more

Employees were way more concerned about closing than making sure we had a good experience. Food was okay but experience was not great. For the record we were about 30 mins or so before close. Super bummed, I actually tried to go get dessert after I finished our dinner and they told me they were closed up, which was still prior to their official closing time. read more

Got a Nashville sandwich for me and strips for my son. The servers were friendly but the food just wasn't good. Very greasy and stringy chicken and overcooked. My son didn't eat his strips after the first bite he tried, they were also really small for the price. My sandwich was a decent size but again overcooked, greasy, stringy, just bad cuts of chicken. Wow. This place definitely lives up to expectations. By far the best Chicken Burger/Sandwich I have ever had. The chicken is moist, succulent and quite delicious. Portion size was awesome! The food and service are always very very good. We order online frequently and the food is always hot, fresh, and ready within 10-15 minutes. Drove by this place many times before I finally got a chance to try it and I was immediately hooked. The chicken has a honey glaze so if sweet chicken isn't your thing then move on, but you'll be missing out. First time going, I ordered the hangover (I think)-- chicken with egg and sauce. I thought it was great. It didn't feel like I was touched by an angel on first bite like some food places, but it was amazing nonetheless. Second time going was after a round of golf in the morning and I got the 8 piece chicken and a couple donuts. Again, the honey glaze chicken is not for everyone but I loved it. Donuts were fantastic as well. I got carried away and ate about 6 pieces of chicken-- felt a little sick the rest of the day, but I'm definitely going back for my next cheat meal. read more

Wow! The best chicken! They use local Redbird chicken, which is delicious in and of itself, but then they brine it and bread and season it deliciously! They do things fresh and slow here, not using shortcuts. And they avoid high fructose corn syrup, which we really appreciated. All in all we dug their philosophy on food and the owner was a nice guy who helped talk us through the experience. We ordered the Pig 'n the Pen on a cinnamon donut, the Chicken BLTA on potato bun, Chicken Caesar, Mac n Cheese, mashed potatoes and bacon gravy, and waffle fries with the homemade ranch. Everything was made to perfection!! The chicken was moist and tender, with great breading and seasoned deliciously! The buns (both potato and donut) were spot on and the toppings accented the sandwiches well. All sides were delicious with the mashed potatoes and gravy being a particular favorite. Oh...and the "Stubborn" sodas and purple lemonade were icing on the cake. We enjoyed this place so much that we came back after our long Costco trip and got some donuts for the weekend. A-maze-ing!! This place is an amazing find! I got their Thanksgiving takeout meal and it included fried chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, biscuits and a pie. My fiance and I kept pausing in between bites to rave about how delicious everything was! I don't know what they do to their mashed potatoes but they are really incredible.
