It was the weekend before Halloween, and this dive was walking distance to the hotel. Thank god. Strong cocktails, good prices, and bartender Jocelyn was fantastic. We stumbled across the bar on Friday and had to come back the following night after the wedding to see our new bartender friend. It is smokey, but what a great dive. We woke every morning shaking our heads saying WTH happened last night? Who cares. The Bermuda Triangle made a fun girls' trip even better.

They have the shuffle board table, the one with the metal pieces, sand, and a long table (not the old school one on the green courts) It is a smoking bar-- you will leave smelling. Bartender is very nice and fun. Cheap cheap drinks. They had live music both nights we went, but I did see a juke box as well. It does appear to be a locals bar, but they didn't mind us being loud and rowdy. As I said, defi. a dive bar, but so much fun if you make it to be!

We stopped at Back Waters for lunch on our way to the airport and it was the perfect choice. We ordered the Sunday special of sliders, which came with three--each one was delicious and packed with flavor. I also had a side salad that was fresh and refreshing. Nick tried the lobster bisque and couldn't stop raving about it--he said it was one of the best he's ever had. We sat in the covered outdoor area, which made for a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. Pork chop ($32) was cooked really well very tender and moist and the cheese sauce was absolutely delicious. It did come with asparagus he chose not to eat it. It definitely could have been cooked a little bit longer as it still was pretty crunchy. I did start my meal with the seafood chowder, which was very tasty. Definitely has a little bit of spice on the back end of it so after a while, definitely filled my mouth with spice. My husband ordered a basic old-fashioned and it was way too sweet. Whether they put too much simple syrup or they put too much bitters in it it definitely overpowered the bourbon that was in there. I ordered the pear martini which was very good perfectly balanced. In looking at their cocktail list, they have more martinis listed than they do anything else which should have indicated to us what their signature cocktails are.

I took one bite of the local catch in the Thai Seafood curry and could swear I heard sea gulls squawking in high-definition. We started with "The Mad Tower" raw bar setup. Calling it a "tower" is an understatement; it's a structural engineering marvel stacked with oysters, clams, shrimp, mussels, and lobster tail. The Gulf ceviche was so pristine it felt less like eating dinner and more like getting baptized by the ocean itself. My partner got the Napoleon II--a glorious heap of pappardelle, Gulf shrimp, scallops, and lump lobster meat tossed in Cognac garlic cream sauce. It was so rich and indulgent that Napoleon Bonaparte himself would have delayed an invasion just to finish the bowl. Meanwhile, someone at the next table ordered the Chateaubriand Experience for Two, and when that 24oz tenderloin hit their table with the hand-cut potato wedges, the entire dining room collectively gasped. Even the sides went hard--the flash-fried Brussels sprouts with ponzu, hazelnuts, and caramelized pears were absurdly good. If you want frozen fish that died during the previous administration, go somewhere else.
