Had such a great experience at Middle Grounds Grill! I ordered the Mango Nut Crusted Grouper and WOW it was absolutely delicious. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked, and the mango nut crust gave it such an amazing flavor. They also had live music when I went on Tuesday, which made the atmosphere even more fun and relaxing. Make sure to ask for the free bread because it was SO good too! And don't skip dessert because the Pineapple Upside Down Cake was amazing. Definitely recommend checking this place out! Week night dinner and place was full. A good sign that the food is good. With valet parking it starts with an upscale experience but then you look around the room and no one is dressed for a nice dinner. I guess this is Florida casual at its best. I ordered the sea bass special. The fish was cooked well and the presentation was lacking. A heaping splash of greenery all over the plate does not count as added culinary skills. The service was good but no one checked in with me after being served and I would have requested another glass of wine. I did elect to have a dessert, cheese cake with berries. Just a slice of a mass produced purchased product brought into the restaurant. Overall good, but needs some work on the fundamentals of added or layered flavors, sauces, and presentations. read more

This has been our anniversary spot for years now but this last time didn't hit the same. We started off with the portobello Oscar which was light on crab and not worth $18. I was expecting lump crab but it was shredded with a lot of veg mixed in. We both got the mango Nut Grouper ($52 each) which has always been our favorite, but tonight it seemed not as special. I remember the crust being nuttier and the fish more flavorful. The fish seemed a little dry and may have been a little overcooked. The mango burre blanc sauce itself, is delicious and I'd happily eat it on a stick if they offered it. Though we agreed $52 seemed overpriced, especially because the grouper didn't seem as fresh tonight. For dessert we shared the key lime tower which we both really enjoyed. We had to get gluten free since we are celiac, I ordered the gluten free chicken Alfredo which was again decent but not really worth the $26 I paid for it. My fiancé ordered the shrimp skewers again nothing to run home about. Probably won't be back. We both got drinks, his was awful. Watered down and horrible. My was good-ish. My boyfriend and I are visiting the area this week, and we were truly blown away by our experience at Middle Grounds! The atmosphere and food were incredible, we shared the mediterranean hummus, a few entrees (the fresh catch grouper and the panko crusted chicken) followed by the fresh berries and cream. We also had some very delicious cocktails, including an espresso martini and a moscow mule. Everything was amazing, and we will most definitely be back for more when we are traveling in this area. I cant't leave this review without mentioning Ella, our incredible server who was kind, attentive, and welcoming, contributing to our overall amazing experience and 5-star review at this restaurant. Disappointed. Waited 1.5 for a table (didn't make a reservation, our mistake) only to then be seated outside of the restaurant in a dark "overflow" section with a table that hadn't been cleaned. After waiting 20 minutes without being acknowledged by anyone, we went in and complained and were seated at a table inside with a very attentive server. Solid 4 stars for Middle Grounds Grill. The dirty Tito vodka martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives were superb. The mussels appetizer was plentiful and flavorful. Lots of restaurants equate bigger as better, but foodies know that the smaller mussels are more flavorful, and there were plenty in the appetizer. I was going to go with the chef special of the day ,filet mignon tips ($32) until I was as informed they are served medium well. I like my filet mignon so rare a good vet could save it. So I switched to the 8oz filet mignon ($40). What really floored me was the 40 yr old "Tawny" port. Verrry smooooth. Our server, Ellin, definitely deserves 5 stars. She was fantastic. Overall I felt that the dishes ( & drinks) were slightly overpriced. That being said, I'll definitely eat here again. The reason for 4 stars? The sauces. The garlic wine sauce on the mussels was bland, The coconut shrimp sauce did not pair well with the shrimp, and the sauce for the filet mignon was awful. This restaurant had just reopened after the hurricane damage . It looked new. It does get busy so reservations recommended. Everything tasted great especially the coconut shrimp.
