Little did we know there is an art studio on the second floor of the building. I had just had knee replacement surgery 8 weeks earlier and it was well worth the climbing of the stairs. Karen was welcoming and full of interesting information. Her art may look familiar, but she puts her own twist on things. My favorite piece is the Marilyn Monroe painting. Most photos or paintings you see of Marilyn exhibit a buxom blonde bombshell. Karen's rendering gave a sweeter and more interesting twist to this iconic figure. I asked if I could take pictures to put on Yelp and Karen was more than willing to let me do so. She offers photography, painting classes and uses materials that are nontoxic. I should have bought the Marilyn painting( but there were so many to choose from that I really couldn't decide. Guess I'll just have to go back again!

There are paintings, photos, soaps, candles, wood items, jewelry, ceramics, glass items, etc. All items were made by artists in the region and seem to be affordably priced (especially compared to many of the galleries I've been to.) What the shop is interested is in giving the customer an experience, not just selling you an item. They can't out "Amazon" Amazon. But they can provide you a creative experience that Amazon can't. If we had more time, I think my wife and I might have taken a shot at making something.
