Seriously,…read moreshe kept finding things to show me and I thought we might buy more stuff than would fit in my car. I have to admit that I was very pleased with the variety of the items. Truffle chocolates, pop up gift cards, holiday items that I hadn't seen anywhere else, door knockers, and home items that were very cool lined the walls and shelves. The folks who run the place are also very friendly and welcoming, including their adorable golden retriever who sometimes comes out of the back office to see if someone may be persuaded to pet her. Inside the store is a items are a bit on the expensive side, but that's because they don't carry the stuff you see in the big box stores. Maybe you could find some of these things on line, but there is nothing like seeing the items in person to see the quality and craftsmanship of the items first hand. This place will become a regular stop for us now whenever we visit Columbus. Review #1994

For a unique Columbus gift, Baker's is one of the exclusive places to get the Exhibit Columbus products featuring the very cool Exhibit graphic design. Additionally, it is a great place for gifts for dog lovers (or your own best friend), and it has the best chocolate truffles bar none.

The walking tour starts at the Visitor's center and is an easy neighborhood stroll that includes an explanation of how Columbus became a center of modern architecture and includes entrance to the church that started the ball rolling. The tour of the Miller house also starts at the Visitor's Center, takes you to the Miller house in a van, and shows you this outstanding example of midcentury modern architecture, left just as it was by the family that built it and lived there. The Miller house is otherwise inaccessible - you can't even see it from the street. Both tours were lead by excellent guides and both tours were well worth the ticket price. You don't need a background in architecture to appreciate these tours. Plan ahead and book your tours early.

I only stopped by to get a map, but instead spent several hours watching films about Irwin Miller, his home and the architecture of Columbus. The building itself is lovely with modern artistic areas and a fabulous Chihuly glass sculpture. The staff is super friendly, helpful and knowledgable. One staff member played a film for us (alone) to learn about the local architecture. They offer guided tours of the city and the Miller house. Reservations are required for the tours, which fill up quickly. They have information on their website about the tours so you can book in advance. Their gift shop is filled with art and books about architecture. There is plenty of parking in their private lot. Restrooms are available.

I didn't see it, took a photo, and she called me out about it. Recommendation: ma'am, this does not appear to be your own local art so I don't understand why you wouldn't want photos. Not quite yelling but not being friendly about telling me to not take photos is NOT the way to inspire folks to stick around. We are in the social media and yelp age - photos are good.

But it is CLEARLY marked that no photos are allowed. Seems like a foolishly lost opportunity to draw in customers. Other successful businesses have these things called catalogs that help buyers make purchases because there are photos! Oh well, not my problem. Let me say that if you like steam punk, this is the spot in Nashville to check out. There are lots of other items too, but those weren't as unique as the cool hats and wall hangings this place had. Note that at the end of Oct'19, the building is going up for auction, so who knows how the sale will affect this and many other businesses in Nashville. I hope the new owners treat the businesses fairly. Review #3244
