We were weaving our way through antique shops in Franklin, Indiana and the surrounding areas when the stylish and trendy Madison Street Salvage popped up in our Yelp "nearby" results. Jackpot! It was literally a block from where we were already perusing and based on the photos, we were digging the vibe of this salvage shop. Before you even step inside the door, Madison Street Salvage gives off cool vibes with their large garage door windows and trendy signage. The best part is that the prices aren't as steep as you would find at somewhere comparable in Indy. Here's a taste of what you'll find at Madison Street Salvage: old door knobs, doors, mid-century modern furniture, unique historic lighting, chairs, ceramic tiles for fireplaces and more. It appears that they are only open on the weekends so apparently we lucked out. Only a block away you'll find fellow antique shops Salvage Sisters and Thanks for the Thyme. These three stops all make for a lovely morning or afternoon in charming Franklin. We didn't end up buying anything this round but look forward to returning with our eyes on the extensive lighting selection. Keep up the awesome work!

If you are looking for that "hard to find" antique to fix up your home, this place embodies that. Madison Street Salvage requires a bit of navigation to find since it in not accessible from the main street that runs through the heart of Franklin. Instead, you have to drive two blocks north of Jefferson to King Street and then south on Depot. Fortunately, there is a small lot across the street that is available for shoppers. Once inside, you will see lots of rescued windows along the north wall and even some old framing wood that was saved. The rest of the shop seems to be very typical of the items you would expect in an antique store or salvage shop. Lots of furniture, out dated electronic equipment, colorful dishes and lamps, and even a vinyl record section. I was free to browse unattended by the staff sitting at the checkout/office area of the shop. Although there were some lamps I found that were very cool at a reasonable price, I decided to wait and see if my wife would like them before making a purchase. Nice shop to browse if you are looking for something different. Review #2940

If you want to go to an antique shop but are more interested in furniture and fixtures than vases and dish sets, this is the place for you. Here, you can find light fixtures, dinner tables, and desks as well as windows, trim and doors. I've even seen old school desks and Hoosier cabinets here. Also, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and have measuring tape on hand to take measurements (as I learned today). My only complaint is that it's only open twice a week. But despite that, I would heartily recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

During this event there are participating shops and you are given a card to have stamped at each vendor and then you are entered in a drawing for gift baskets and cards once you have visited 10 shops. This shop has very nice decor items and furniture. They also had some clothing. I did not buy anything from this shop this time but I will still make a future visit to see what new items they come up with.

There is public and street parking close to Blackbird Nest and the other shops I wanted to visit. As I entered Blackbird Nest I received a pleasant greeting. The Blackbird Nest specializes in redesigned modern, antique and vintage furniture along with home decor, lamps, new clothing, bath and body products, prints, florals and wreaths plus holiday decor. The shop has several smaller rooms with various items incorporated throughout but items are organized well and prices are clearly marked. I liked seeing furniture, clothing, home and holiday decor all tastefully arranged together in each space. The store has a few narrow isleway's but most are spacious enough to browse comfortably down. They do have a dressing room to try on clothing you are interested in. If you're in Franklin make time to visit Blackbird Nest. Terrific location for gifts, clothing and unique furniture.
