Christmas village pieces
Kerri C.

Really enjoyed shopping at this location. It was laid out relatively easy to navigate. Always excited when I find Christmas village pieces.

There is a lot of really great antiques here and they are reasonably priced. I didn't buy anything here but there are a few pieces that I am going to go back for. The prices here are so affordable. It is really clean and organized. Not quiet as large as the one in Middletown but definitely cheaper and cleaner. I can't wait to go back here again and again

Sale going on

Stopped in on a rainy chilly afternoon. Several of the vendors have some nicer things now. Some of the vendors must not pay rent. We had fun and made a scavenger hunt out of the visit. There is an equal mix of old and new in this location. The ladies up front are always nice and busy working. But don't try and get over on them - they are watching you on every camera!!

So, while darling husband was hitting golf balls in 100 degree heat (aka: Heaven to him), I went exploring around the area and came across Peddler's Mall. What looks like an old Big Box store of some kind has been transformed into a flea market type store. I had no idea what this place was, and this is what I found on line about it: "This chain of secondhand stores is the brainchild of John George who hit upon the idea of renovating big box stores to open up flea markets in the mid-nineties. George typically rents the lease until it runs out, when control of the building defaults to the real estate company managing the lease. Then the Peddlers Mall moves on. " When you first walk in, you think "oh, OK this might be pretty awesome." Until you work your way further into the back. To me, what it looks like they originally said was "please, antique dealers only." Then, "hmm, we dont have enough takers, Ok anyone willing to pay the booth fee can come on in." Because there are booths set up like mini grocery stores full of food, booths selling cheap toys and socks, and booths selling what looks like the clearance rack at Wal-Mart. There is not a lot of furniture, and what furniture there is isn't worth a damn. I guess if you live nearby and want to spend an afternoon picking around, you might come up with something. Otherwise save the trip to Peddler's Mall, unless you are really needing a bulk pack of Tostitos of questionable age and condition.

There are better local Peddler's Malls. Clarksville, Shelbyville Rd, Bardstown Rd all have better merchandise.

The reason I love this one is the fact that they have a wider variety of vintage (50's and 60's) items than the others.

And I had found that it once again expanded even more within the giant warehouse it occupies. It is quite easy to get lost in the maze of booths, but you're guaranteed a lot to look at along the way. Fleur de Flea is as much of an experience as it is a shopping spot. There are several midcentury modern furniture booths, as well as others selling all manner of art, jewelry, books, clothes, records, plants and more. On my most recent visit, I came away with a book of the script of a show I really love and a fun T-shirt. Fleur de Flea also sells cocktails and other drinks if you'd like to sip while you shop, and it's very pet friendly. You're likely to see a pup shopping alongside its owner, and Fleur de Flea's resident doggo can be found sitting on the counter by the cash registers. This is a spot that is becoming uniquely Louisville for me. I love it so!

Spending an hour here (preferably on the weekend with a cocktail) is one of my favorite shopping adventures! Great staff and they know their stuff! If you're looking for something specific, they can probably find it for you! Value is set by vendors - I've found steals on furnitures and clothes, but passed over some crazy high prices as well. All part of the adventure!

Each vendor has an area with a marked tag and of someone buys something from that section then the seller gets the profit agreed upon between them and and the mall. These locations Are plentiful in Louisville. This particular one is located in the hillview portion of Louisville just off Preston highway right before you get to the bullitt county line. Rather large location compared to other ones. I've been here several times over the years to do some bargain shopping or browsing. A lot of the items in these stores will give you nostalgic feels. My most recent visit was to help my father get a Mother's Day gift for my mom as he bought a rocking chair for there front porch and needed my vehicle to transport it. Overall all peddlers mall are cool to search through. Neat idea that evidently is successful as there are a whole bunch of locations in the Louisville area. I have a few family friends and relatives who have had booths at different locations over the years and they seemed to do well with it. So seems like a win win situation.

The vendors that come are diverse and great to shop, although I can't remember the last time I made a purchase. Due to a smaller number of vendors, today's excursion was short - maybe 30 minutes. If you're pointed in the direction of The Flea, definitely pull over and browse; however, I can't recommend it as the destination or reason for your outing.

I partook of the Flea Off Market most recently at its annual indoor holiday bazaar, this year held at Mellwood Art Center. This included a couple of food trucks plus vendors set up throughout the two outside buildings at the art center. I also appreciate how well the Flea sets the mood for their markets, with DJs in each building and a bar where you can buy drinks. The Flea has always been more of an experience, where it's fun to shop and also to hang out. During this most recent market, I found several creative vendors that I wished I could buy from. I said to my friend who accompanied me, "I wish I had people cool enough on my Christmas list to buy some of these things for." Alas, I just had family on my list. ;-P Some of my favorite finds, though, included Georgia's Sweet Potato Pie Co. (also has a spot in the Highlands that's worth a visit!), SnoWhat, Eichen Design, FLY Girl Candles and Eden & Kissi (also has a physical location that you should go to in Buechel). I was also struck by the idea that I really need to make it a point to go to more of the Flea's outdoor markets next year so I can shop these great vendors not just at the holidays. Thanks for continuing to bring some wonderful weirdness to Louisville, Flea Off Market!
