Buffalo Fries
Ryan F.

A nice spot for a AC quick service. This area can get extremely busy. They do offer mobile options as well. I tried the new buffalo fries. They use thin fries and sauce it the with buffalo and light blue cheese. I not a fan of blue cheese but it uses a light blue cheese flavor dressing. It cost about the same as fries at McDonald's

Southwest Chicken Salad, mango margarita (delish), buffalo fries... and chicken teriyaki bowl.

Backlot express gas really stepped their game since the last time I ate there. The decor is still fantastic and does feel like you are on the back lot of a movie set. There are lots of shady spots to sit and enjoy your meal. The food... really good. You can definitely still get traditional park fare... but they gave added some great and super tasty more healthy options. We had the southwest chicken salad and the chicken teriyaki bowl and they were outstanding. Definitely recommend!

Jollywood Night Snacks

Backlot Express is always a must do based on their healthy options (actual vegetables in the park) and their portion sizes (legitimately... get the kids portion... I swear it is still a portion bigger than what you need) BUT... we were here for Jollywood Nights.. and the food was even better. Best food for the holiday celebration. Burnt end Mac & Cheese with Fried Onions, Brussel Sprouts that were delightful crisped and coated, a holiday meatloaf hamburger that had a fun onion jam... AND the holiday bread pudding with dark chocolate and cherries. The staff was so accommodating. We were in, ordered, served, and seated within a few minutes. Plus the theming is next level. Like you are legitimately at a backlot of a studio and Indiana Jones has his equipment everywhere for the next stunt. Ample tables too!!

My daughter's favorite chicken tenders in all of Central Florida. In Hollywood Studios next to Star Tours. I had the chicken bowl, very tasty, but not very filling. The blueberry slushie was yummy and for dessert we had the Star Wars cupcake. They have surprise fillings inside. Ours was red icing. Hard to find a set and slower service, place a mobile order to speed things up!

I really quick place in Disney to get a snack or light snack or meal. Self-serve drink dispensers and the fries are really good. Has indoor and outdoor seating as well. Not too terribly expensive.

Southwest salad with crispy chicken strips and house-made dressing

Awful dining experience. Yes! This tasted as bad as it looks. The southwest chicken salad is absolutely disgusting. It had no cucumbers, avocados, or cheddar toppings, and the meat was strange- definitely not crispy chicken strips. I can't believe they serve this soggy mess. We just threw it away. The bacon cheeseburger was missing the bacon. Very disappointing meal. This location has both indoor and outdoor seating. The cashier that took our order was very sweet.

Southwest Chicken Salad and Gingerbread Cheesecake

Backlot Express is located outside Indiana Jones. With an interesting array of food items, online ordering, plenty of seating, and bathrooms right around the corner, it is always a fabulous one stop shop for us. The Southwest salad with chicken really elevated a typical entree. The meat was a nice combination of dark and light pieces. It as flavorful and moist. The bed of lettuce was topped with roasted corn, tomatoes, pickled onion, and roasted pumpkin seeds. The cherry on top was the creamy and tangy jalapeño lime ranch dressing. It was really well balanced with lots of great texture. The star of the show however was the gingerbread cheesecake on a vanilla cookie with milk chocolate ganache, dulce de leche whipped cream, a gingerbread chocolate man, with a sprinkle of crispy pearls. Not only was it beautiful to behold, but the cheesecake filling was smooth and had just the right ratio of warm spices. The crust was nice and buttery with a good crunch. And I really enjoyed the contrast of the pearls for some texture. But as with all cheesecakes, it is best to share because they can get heavy on the palette after a few bites. Overall, with quick service, a unique variety of items to order from, and an idealistic location, this is one of my preferred quick stop shops at Hollywood Studios.

Due to technical difficulties, our reservation at Sci-Fi Drive In restaurant was canceled. So we came here, since the food never disappoints. Neither does the service. We ordered on the app, and our food was ready when we checked in. The two ladies who helped us were friendly. Husband had the bacon cheeseburger and fries. He was happy with his meal. No complaints. I had the Cuban again, and this time I got the plantains. I thoroughly enjoyed both. The restaurant is like a Hollywood back lot area, functional and comfortable. The seats are padded and the wooden tables are cleaned by efficient staff. There is also outside seating, at plastic looking tables and chairs. It's too hot to eat outside - 85° on 9/25/24. This is our go to lunch or dinner place for its good staff & food and reasonable prices.

If you want to spend your money on a plate of white rice, terrible customer service and unhappy employees. $28 for two of these rice bowls with barely anything tofu in them and no way to order a side of tofu either

Wookie cookie

I thought that the backlot express was great! I had a tofu bowl that was very flavorful and hit the spot for dinner. My family and I also split the Wookie cookie. The cookie portion of it was tasty, but I didn't love the middle cream filling as much, but I tend to not like cream desserts. There was plenty of seating in our food came out quickly after doing mobile order. My kids had some chicken strips and they also enjoyed them as well. My husband had the chicken version of the bowl that I had and he thought it was really good. I think this is a solid option while spending a day in Hollywood Studios.

Well, usually when we are in a hurry we stop here. Today took so long, as a cast food, took about 35 min between pay and wait to pick up. Fries were good, one of the burguers we ordered with pulled pork, but it was too much, to sweet too.

Backlot Express serves up exactly what you'd expect from theme-park fare--nothing fancy, but it hits the spot when you need some reliable chicken tenders. The themed warehouse-style setting, complete with movie props and covered seating, adds a neat nostalgic touch for classic Hollywood Studios. It's reliable and efficient--especially useful when you've got kids or need to use mobile ordering during a busy park day. The indoor dining area with air conditioning and shaded outdoor tables makes it a convenient refuge when the Florida heat gets intense. That said, while the food is consistently okay, it's unremarkable. It doesn't feel like a culinary destination so much as a solid fallback when you're hungry and options are limited. Overall, Backlot Express is average theme-park fare--not bad, not mind-blowing--but dependable enough when you just need a quick, familiar meal without the frills.

Food was sooo good and fresh and totally hit the spot! Very needed after a great day at Disney. We ordered ahead which was totally the move and it was super fast service! The vibe was great and we loved it!

Reviews are mixed. Many highlight the varied menu options, mobile ordering convenience, and large seating area. The self-serve drink refills are also appreciated.

This place smells really bad on the inside and served me one of the worst burgers I've ever had the displeasure of eating.

The hot dogs and french fries are both really good. Also, you get free refills (self serve) with sodas.

The tables are dirty and the ice machine was out of ice. So we had to have a warm coke. YUCK.

Summer House on the Lake - Gooey Lemon Butter Cake

Got the meatballs and salmon poke nachos as an app. The meatballs were so soft and delicious! This is a must get. The salmon poke was pretty good too. Salmon tasted fresh. I got the skirt steak with sweet potato fries. I really like the fries! They were thick cut but a little thinner so it was crispy. The steak was cooked medium rare but I thought it was okay. It might just be me because I'm more of a ribeye person and not really skirt steak. The Cobb salad is really big! Definitely a sharing size. All the ingredients were really fresh and refreshing. The kids pounded the cheese pizza. Had a good crispy, thin crust. They're connected to the cookie bakery. We got a couple cookies to try with a scoop of ice cream. The cookies were really good and chewy. I like my cookies with crispy edges tho. These were softer cookies. Definitely a great place to have dinner and soak in the views!

I was first alerted to Summer House during my last Disney trip in 2025. A cast member at a…read moredifferent restaurant recommended their cookies, and being a fan of baked goods I decided to check them out. Their cookies are good, and I wrote a positive review for them on the cookie page. That being said, I was curious to try out the main restaurant/menu, so one of my friends decided to meet up here for dinner. Like many businesses in the Springs, Summer House is not owned by Disney. They have other locations in Maryland, Chicago, and Vegas, and you're able to reserve a table outside of the Disney app. The restaurant markets itself as showcasing California cuisine, and has a bright color scheme to go with the vibe. The space itself is quite large, with a combination of indoor dining, outdoor tables up front, and an outdoor deck in the back that sits on the lake. We were seated out back which was quite comfortable. Outside of the California theming of the menu, there's really nothing else to tie the components together. They really attempt to appeal to the masses - pizzas, seafood, pastas, steak - a big compilation of different cuisines. We started with drinks - they had a selection of spritzes which sounded good, so I went with the 1996 one which was kind of their play on a Hugo Spritz. For food, we started by sharing two apps - the shaved mushroom pizza and the ahi tuna and watermelon tostadas. These were both good - the tostadas were fresh, but I was more impressed with the pizza. I'm usually not a mushroom person, but the fact that they were shaved and paired with a light cream sauce made this super tasty mmmm. For my main, I had the steak taco platter, which came with all components of a taco laid out for me to build. These were tasty as well - the steak wasn't tough, and all the flavors worked well together. Service was pretty good - our waitress was friendly and everyone we interacted with made the meal seamless. Overall, I had a good experience at Summer House. I wouldn't call the food outstanding, but it *is* tasty, and quality - combined with the vibes, it makes this a place I would definitely return to in Disney Springs.

In a mecca of food options that Disney Springs is, I admittedly don't think of Earl of Sandwich as a first option often, but after a long night at Level 99... a quick sandwich was the perfect way to go! We ordered: The Earl's Club - why not order the namesakes sammich? The bread is phenomenal - a mix between fresh baked bread and a flaky pastry, it made the entire experience level up! Plenty of toppings and delicious flavors - only caveat was that we had to open it up and redistribute the toppings evenly. The service is extraordinary. At 10:00 PM, they still had over 15 staff, so everything was well taken care of including staff ready to wipe down every used table within seconds of people vacating them. With plenty of booths and tables, the inside is nice and simple comfort. In a pinch, I found a new option.
