First I had him out to remove a random water line that was running off of the washer hookup. The hookup was beyond corroded and no longer needed, so he capped that off for us as well. He did a brief inspection in the house and noticed that our sump pump was no longer functional, he replaced the device and cleaned out the pile of garbage that was stuffed in the hole. We also had him upgrade and add shut off valves to the water line to the fridge. On another trip, he changed out an original toilet on our second floor, such an upgrade over the previous model. Price was lower than a lot of the big names and included him providing the toilet, 12 month work/toilet warranty and removal of existing equipment. On his last visit, he removed and replaced my burned out garbage disposal. He gave me a couple of size options and went to work. As usual, he did a great job and warrantied his work. I contracted them to install a sewage extraction pump for a new bathroom in my basement, not a small job. They gave me a full estimate and they handled all permits, etc. Came out, jackhammered the concrete and installed the pump, plumbing and drain line in a day and a half. Only delay was waiting for inspection and once that happened they were out next day to replace the concrete. It was one of the most "uneventful" home improvement jobs I've ever contracted, and I mean that in 100% positive way. They did exactly what I expected them to do. But let me share a couple of things I felt were "beyond expectations" Their estimate was based on plans I had drawn up specifying location of pump, drain lines, etc. But after starting, they pointed out to me another option for the drain line that would be shorter and it turned out, less work. I said, great, go ahead. It never occurred to me to ask them to give me new estimate, I assumed same cost. When I got the final invoice, they had reduced the cost by $800 because of the reduced work effort. Completely unsolicited. I was floored. Still am. To me, that demonstrates integrity that is hard to find anymore. About 18 months after completing the basement, we had our son, wife and baby living downstairs and there was a problem with the toilet, turned out to be the sewage pump was stopped up. I called Hook to come out and look at it (I was none too anxious to open that sucker up myself). They came out they same day, fixed the problem (a diaper that should have never gone in the toilet) and charged me, I don't recall exactly but it think it was under $100 or thereabouts. I expected more so was very pleased. So. That's my experience, it's been five years and everything still works like a top. If there were six stars I'd give them six I haven't needed a plumber (knock on wood) since that time, but there is only one number in my "Rolodex" under plumber, and it's these good folks. My shop vac was to the right of us as I was using it to get the water up the day before. I told them I can use it myself, they said no no sir, we have our own shop vac we'll use to get the water up. They said verbatim "we'll take care of the water." Well, they did not. They cleaned the lines doing the hydro jet and apparently got my dad to cut them a check while leaving my laundry room and the adjacent bathroom, flooded with nasty-soot filled water. It's amazing how they didn't check with me prior to finishing, they just told my pops who's 77 and struggles to get downstairs they were finished, and we took them at their word. I guess if they checked with me, I would have asked them to suck up the water, hm starting to make sense now?
