I would've rated it as a 5 star but the line to get in and order was well over 20 minutes. Prices also seemed a little high but that is a reflection of the area. My Uncle Ron came to visit from Florida this week, so I took him to get his favorite gelato at Baccio Di Latte. It's a beautifully decorated Gelateria that is as charming as it is classically appointed. Upon entering, one is greeted with elegant wood flooring and white-washed paneling that is broken up on one side with a floor-to-ceiling shelving space that displays an eclectic variety of stylish kitchen decor and store merchandise. The seating areas include small wooden bistro tables set in front of a mix of metal and natural buckskin seats. And then there's the gelato case. Oh, the gelato case. It showcases a variety of smooth raspberry, chocolate, white and pastel gelatos and textured toppings piled high, which are collectively as elegant as they are decadently delicious. Uncle Ron is a semi-retired stripper who now resides in the Florida panhandle area. He still has a full head of red hair at age seventy-two and, because of that, 'danced' for many years under the stage name "Rusty Knales." He's visiting Southern California this week because he swaps out his veneers in the Spring of each year at a small dental lab in Pacoima that is run by a Moldovan chiropractor my Uncle Ron befriended in the nineteen eighties while they were both volunteering at a tiger sanctuary in San Bernardino. Uncle Ron and I both had the pistachio mousse gelato, which I highly recommend. It's lighter than the normal pistachio gelato and (we thought) much tastier. Baccio Di Latte gelato is certainly not inexpensive, but is absolutely worth the price as an occasional treat. Delicious! You don't need a huge cup because the flavors are so concentrated but you'll want it for sure. You can get 2-3 different flavors in one cup too! And the workers are very nice & know how to move the line along! (None of this 1 worker for each group that kinda clogs the way). read more

I had never had gelato before coming here. I got a waffle cone pressed into a cup with three scoops: pistachio, raspberry sorbet and greek yogurt. The greek yogurt flavor was perfect, not too sweet, balanced, met my expectations. The raspberry sorbet exceeded expectations because when sampling it, it seemed just alright but the server told me that it was one of his three favorite flavors so I got it. This flavor is the prodigy of when they say everything is made fresh daily with local ingredients. I could feel all the raspberry seeds on my tongue which was shocking at first but what anyone should be expecting when someone says their product is made fresh and local. I can imagine if an aged Italian grandma made raspberry sorbet from scratch with berries from her backyard garden, it would be like this. The pistachio was a little too sweet for me. I couldn't really taste the pistachio. It was the right color for authentic pistachio flavor and I don't doubt they used real pistachio paste but it didn't capture the nuttiness and unique flavor of a pistachio. It just tasted like sweet vanilla ice cream, dare I say like the one you could find anywhere. Three scoops was a lot of gelato and I only ate half and saved the rest for later. The price was $13 which sounds really high to me but I like knowing that I tried some of the best gelato for my first time. I thought gelato was supposed to be chewier than ice cream from what I'd seen in the media but apparently it's supposed to be softer and smoother which I think this gelato achieved. My friend ordered a waffle cone with tiramisu, cookies and cream, and strawberry cheesecake. She said "It was really good, creamy, tasted like it was from natural ingredients. I'm very sensitive to artificial flavors so it was nice. I think I'd only recommend the tiramisu flavor to those who really like the coffee aspect of it because it wasn't as sweet as the other flavors I tried and tasted more like coffee. The texture was perfect." The three scoops look kinda ugly on a cone to be honest. I'm glad the server offered me a waffle cup after seeing how unstable the cone looked. I came in at 1:54 pm Friday on Valentine's day and it was somewhat busy. There were 5 people lined up and the parking lot was pretty full although I didn't struggle to find parking. I saw in another review that the line can go out the door at times and it wasn't nearly as bad as that. There was a decent amount of indoor seating, although I wish there were outdoor cafe tables or something available to enjoy the gelato in nice weather. I was impressed by the availability of free samples and wooden compostable sample spoons. I sampled all the vegan options for that day: lemon sorbet, raspberry sorbet, vegan belgium chocolate and strawberry sorbet. It was a nice selection for vegans although I wish there could've been something more complex and unique available in the vegan category. (like how non-vegans get strawberry cheesecake, tiramisu, peanut butter caramel chocolate) While I was ordering the three scoops, the server was very friendly in offering the cone dips (nutella or pistachio with optional nuts). I don't have a huge sweet tooth so I refused. He also gave me a sample of the wild acai with white chocolate flavor which he offered as a healthier alternative but I didn't really like it. Chocolate and acai just seem weird to me. I prefer acai on its own. I felt a little rushed during my order. I remember thinking that I wanted the waffle chip and whipped cream toppings while looking at the menu but once all three scoops were on my cone, I was sent straight to checkout and didn't really have time to remember that I'd wanted those two things. Server was friendly though. I wouldn't blame him entirely since there were people lining up to order behind me. The aesthetic is on point here. It definitely captures that clean California trendy atmosphere. read more

It was a frigid Saturday night and I didn't expect to see as many people as I did when I went to grab some gelato for me and my beautiful Valentine. Bacio di Latte is a fantastic place to get a tasty treat, a sweet taste of Italy nestled in Thousand Oaks, CA. They have an excellent selection of flavors, catering to every taste from Cioccolato Belga (Belgium Chocolate) to Fragola (Strawberry Sorbet). I went with my family on our way back home from our San Diego Valentine's Day celebration weekend and it was quite a great way to end the trip! I got a deliciously tarty Lemon flavor called Lemone and the Sweet Amarena (wild cherries and cream). The combination of tart and sweet definitely hit a chord with me!! I also got the waffle cup coated with pistachio cream, which was delicious! The service was great. Special shout out to our server, Lana, she was very friendly and helpful. The decor was ice cream inspired and the ambiance was chill. My wife got the Pistachio flavor, the Sweet Cream (Baccio di Latte, I guess the flavor that inspired the name of the shop), and the Sweet Amarena; her favorite was the pistachio flavor. So excited this place has come to Conejo valley! Delicious gelato. I went with my sisters and we all thought it was the closest we've had to the gelato we got while in Italy. Made us want to go back, but what a treat to have a taste of Italy right here in Westlake. Cute little place, and the servers were really nice. Most of the flavors are gluten free. They told me only 3 that weren't and they were pretty obvious! I ended up getting the crema torino which was sort of like a hazelnut truffle. So creamy and delicious.
