Bachner has no compassion for various sized patients. Was extremely rude and specific to humiliate me regarding my size.

I highly recommend SCOI Westlake they were always on time, scheduling easy, staff polite, greeted me with care, clean environment and staff always friendly and professional. I walked into SCOI for an appt with my wife and you could tell instantly, the waiting room was way to big and there were way too many people in it. So not only were they running WAY behind but they have prepared for running way behind because (my guess is) they are ALWAYS running way behind. I mean the irony alone!! Here are all these people with bad backs and other issues and you are making them sit in an uncomfortable waiting area for hours? Exaggeration, you say? I went to ask about when we might get seen after it was 33 minutes past our appt time. (Of course, we got there twenty minutes early because we don't operate like SCOI... we are mindful of our time and obligations... so we've been there close to an hour.) We were told that we "were next" but they could not tell me if that meant 5 minutes or 45 minutes but it didn't matter because we were relatively sure it would be the same situation the next time we came to this office and this was not a situation we wanted to be involved with regularly... so we left. (We would have told them we were leaving but they didn't have the decency to keep us informed when they were running 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes late... let them do the guessing this time.) Fast forward almost an hour and we get a phone call while driving home... "Are you in the clinic? We are looking for you." You are looking for us NOW? About an hour-and-a-half past our appt??? Could you have looked for us about 15 minutes after our appt time to say, "Sorry but the dr is running late"? Don't get me wrong... the girls were all nice. It's probably hard to remain even semi-nice in that kind of chaos. About 5 to 7 years ago I thought I noticed a shift in this kind of practice of keeping patients waiting forever. With cell phones, automatic reminders, online scheduling, Yelp reviews... I thought I was seeing that my wait times had become very reasonable. Ya know? Word will get out and people won't stand for it so you better get your shite together... SCOI didn't get the memo. They literally do not care about this review... or your time. I'm giving two stars... because the girls at front were pretty cool and, who knows, the doctors may be great.

From start to finish there is no guessing game with finances how insurance is billed etc. he charges what he charges - take it or leave it.

This practice states they will bill your insurance, (I have a PPO) but will NOT do it and will NOT provide billing codes so the patient can bill themselves. They had the nerve to tell me they collect up front due to patients "skipping out on the bill." OMG! What a thing to tell your patients! Well, now that I see how patients are treated and excessively billed, maybe why?! Not what I would do, skip out, but since I was charged $550 and the care was poor, I can understand their frustration. Btw, this is $550 is AFTER they tried to charge me over $1000! Not to mention, Dr. Cohen barely spends time with you. It is his "staff" and he comes in for a couple minutes! Wow! Not what he promotes on his website! Side note: After an MRI, he ordered, I received a call from 'Staff,' to make a follow up and it would be another $150 for my results! What?!, No thanks. I am a UCLA patient normally and when I get imaging, my Physicans will contact me with results. No extra charge after spending money on the imaging. What a joke! Candy, the so called Office Manager, had the nerve to come in my exam room to state, "We don't want you to leave unhappy, we will provide you the billing codes, ...blah blah blah," after they tried to charge me the over $1000 for an office visit. Also after adding to my total, WITHOUT my consent, 'their supplements' (NOONE - Doctor or Staff) EVER talked to me about these supplements - what they were, how much they cost, what supplements I am already on or medications), who does that?! THIS office!! And Norma, their Billing Manager, same story as Candy. "I will send you the billing codes." And all kinds of reasons for not sending. (Will spare you on these reasons.) Never did! Also won't return voicemails or email. I wish I would have seen the similar complaints like mine, in the reviews, one in particular was charged $900 plus, so I guess my $550. is better than that. They tried though with the over $1000 bill. Unbelievable! Once again, stay far away from this office if you don't want to feel worse than when you came in!! And not receive proper billing, hence SO MUCH wrong with this office and their billing practices. I worked in healthcare and billing, so I am well aware of what and how typical medical office practices work.

He will give you about 5 minutes or less and not give you any time to discuss anything. He literally never even fully entered the room for my last visit and spoke to me with his hand on the door handle the entire 3 minutes of my appointment. I have seen on the google reviews that his office has time to respond to negative feedback...they just won't respond to you in person. I find that interesting since I sent him a message right after my last visit expressing how upset I was and never heard back...guess I would have gotten a response if I had just posted it on his google page.

In addition, a small cyst had developed on the same shoulder, out of the blue. Because it was a workmen's compensation surgery, I had to go through tremendous hoops to get an appointment with a second doctor, for a second opinion. Getelman walked into the office with his snarky female scribe, failed to mention what he had seen on the X-ray his office had taken, and told me to go back to the original surgeon. As he and his scribe exited the room, he said "You'll have to get that cyst taken care of." The appointment I had waited several weeks was over in less than two minutes. What a pompous narcissist. Long story short, had to jump through hoops again to get yet another opinion from a completely different doctor, who ordered an initial X-ray and the results were that a bone spur had been missed during the initial surgery and was rubbing against a tendon, which was causing the pain. So, a second surgery months later and my shoulder healed perfectly. Getelman either missed the bone spur on the X-ray or never looked at it and or he could have cared less. I'm guessing it was a combination of both. Kim R.
