I went to see this doctor based on a recommendation from a knee specialist, but unfortunately, it was a bad decision. His office charged me almost $900 for custom insoles made using a smartphone. I was only able to use them for less than 30 minutes because they caused pain and made it difficult to walk. I would never recommend this doctor and will not return. read more

I've sprained my ankle numerous times over the years playing basketball and found out after an MRI that I tore a tendon and 2 ligaments after my last bad sprain in May of 2019... Dr. Geller was calm, cool and collected and made me feel comfortable throughout the pre-op & post op process. His office is bright and nice mirroring the person he is. I am happy to say, after him performing my left ankle arthroscopic surgery, I'm back to being 100% and stronger than I was before. Went to Dr. Geller for an evaluation for possible surgery. He was really straight forward in answering my questions including the pros/cons of surgery. For someone who makes a living largely from performing surgery I found him to be refreshingly objective when he told me that surgery could wait and wasn't absolutely necessary. I will definitely go back to him if I decide to move forward with surgery but will be sticking with conservative options for the time being. read more

I went to dr Geller after being misdiagnosed for over a month. I had a small Achilles tear and he handled it completely. He does not over react and just looks to simplify the healing process which I really appreciate. He set me up with a great boot and once I came out of it connected me to the most amazing bodywork specialist to get me mobilized again. I had Morton's neuroma surgery that did absolutely nothing to help my condition. It was a serious disappointment. After my surgery I was unsure if my wife should proceed with her surgery based on the promises of fixing my foot but instead it turning out to be a complete failure.  I was also very concerned about the costs of Tara's surgery. I don't remember it being more than what mine cost, I remember her surgery was even less than mine. Tara's was a common bread and butter surgery as the Doctor stated.  The bill we received shows a 5k balance which is more than double what I remember agreeing to. My wife's surgery was for a bunion and he added a shortening of the bone in her little toe. Now her little toe will not touch the ground and doesn't look right, she's really not happy about it and neither am I.  It looks deformed.  She said, "if I knew this was going to happen to my little toe, I wouldn't have had him mess with it." So we have two surgeries that neither one of us are happy with.  Mine didn't work at all and her toe looks awful.  Now I'm getting a bill for 5k.  I don't know if someone miscalculated what our insurance would pay but I never OK'd 5k and the lack of success on both our surgeries should apprise us a big concession. How I was assured Morton's Neuroma was what I had and that the surgery would be a smashing success is crazy since it did absolutely nothing to help me and all the MRI's and nerve conduction tests showed tarsal tunnel not a Morton's Neuroma.  Doctor Geller even told me he can get his MRI radiologist to say there was a troubled nerve.  Looking back now I see what was happening.  Basically he told me his radiologist could make a case that his guess that I have bad nerve was correct. Well I see now, he needs his radiologist to say it's worth doing or he can't just do surgery on a good nerve which is what I think happened, more on this below. I saw another doctor who said, "This doesn't make sense.  Your symptoms are numbness in many places in your foot which doesn't not coincide with a Morton's neuroma. You have a nerve conduction test as well as an MRI that BOTH say Tarsal Tunnel in your ankle, this was never a Morton's neuroma".  I don't really care that the doctor told me what I already know. I knew this was not a Morton's neuroma, it showed numbness in too many area's to have the symptoms of a Morton's neuroma but the Doctor was extremely confident so I followed his lead. Here's where it gets strange.  All this talk of a damaged nerve.  And part of his pitch there was a damaged nerve?  !!!!!!!!!!!!He told me 3 separate times, even the morning of the surgery that he would take a picture of the nerve he pulled out, but he never did take any picture.  It was the FIRST thing I asked for when I woke up because I was suspect of the whole thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No picture and the nerve had been whisked away and no picture could have been had at that point. Suspect.  And? I immediately knew the surgery didn't work and I told him, "it feels exactly the same." The fact he was so confident he could fix me and was wrong, really sucked.  I was pretty depressed for the next couple months to have my hopes built up then dashed.  The the fact he told me he would take a picture of the nerve 3 separate times as well as the morning of the surgery and did not, is bad. As a result of my failed surgery I asked the Doctor would my wife be OK?  He said Tara's surgery was his bread and butter!  But her toe looks deformed now?! See Attached.  It seems where there is smoke there is fire at this point.  Then after all that a 5k bill?! I gave them a chance to respond and take care of the bill. I never even received a call or email back. I don't believe all these reviews are legit. I just don't. P.S. The office just commented after the doctor called me personally with a ridiculous message asking me to take this down. Then he responds here under a different name, calling this fake this. I swear ON MY EYESIGHT this is the complete and total truth. If you're considering this guy I urge you to contact me. I wasn't sure he was a total fraud with no morals, BUT after seeing his response now I know he is a COMPL:ETE FRAUD. I'll add one correction. I've learned why he's calling this whole review a fraud. This 5k bill came from the surgery center not from his office. I'm not sure why that really matters. He got paid thousands from both my wife and myself as well as by Blue Shield. What's the difference if this bill was from his office or the surgery center he uses. It again goes to show what a sleezy slippery person he is. Dr. Geller IMMEDIATELY put me at ease! His treatment involved ME and my input! He did not hurry me into a surgery (I may someday need) when other doctors had little hesitation to cut. This place was a life saver. My son had a badly infected ingrown toenail. Urgent care wouldn't do anything, suggested ER or a podiatrist. We didn't think we would be able to get into a podiatrist without a few weeks/months wait. This office got us in immediately because they had a cancellation. The dr was professional and was able to remove the ingrown nail quickly and safely. The front desk was so nice and friendly. As a veteran of 14 marathons, I was distressed to discover that the big toe on my left foot did NOT want to run with me. I had some minor work done on the joint before I finally met Dr. Geller. He determined that the joint was in such bad shape there were only 2 choices: fuse it in position or replace the joint. Fuse was completely out of the question and I do believe Dr G agreed with me. Feet are complex things. Genetically, I did not win the lottery with feet. I have Morton's Neuroma and plantar fasciitis in both feet. I used to have my insurance at Kaiser but grew frustrated with their podiatry department, so I changed my insurance just so I could see other doctors. I spent a couple of years trying multiple doctors across LA. When I found doctor Geller I was burnt out and ready to give up. I was 40 years old and couldn't stand up for longer than 30 minutes. I couldn't stand in long lines. I couldn't stand at work. I carried a cane stool everywhere I went. I felt so old and broken, always wondering if my days of hiking, running, or even just spending a day on my feet, were over. I was in a pretty severe depression thanks to my broken feet and being in constant pain all the time. After working with doctor Geller for a year and a half I am finally back to normal. The PRP injections and shockwave therapy he administered for my plantar fasciitis was not an instant fix, but I stayed the course and I was patient. He was very gracious and worked with my limited budget. I lost some weight and continued putting my faith in Dr. Geller's treatment. Again, this was no quick fix. It took about a year and a half of slow, gradual progress. But in the end, I am so glad I stuck with Dr. Geller. I haven't touched a cane in months, I now run 3-4 miles every morning, and I spent 12 hours walking all over Disneyland without issue. I am cured, and I have Dr. Geller to thank. read more

I LOVE the medical outcome of my treatment by Dr. Geller. I will rate Dr. Geller 5 stars if medical outcome is the primary consideration. I do not like the pricing structure of the ComfortFit custom orthotics. I especially dislike how Comfortfit seems to pivot fixing my disability into a service that grants Dr. Geller perpetual revenue -- for one-time use of his facilities and expertise. The failure of Comfortfit to sell a lifetime supply directly to patients and cut Dr.Geller out of the money gravy train raises enormously important issues about ethics, character, justice fairness and economics. My own (possibly misinformed) business opinions aside, Dr. Geller is a sweet guy who radiates good energy. And damn if he isn't a foot whisperer who knew my feet like he had tried them on! read more

In response to their response: You weren't in the room Michelle. The dr did say 100% success for HIS patients. I have no reason to fabricate this. No, I did not say keep the CD. And yes, I was happy when I left and admitted in the review that the staff and dr were nice, however I didn't get accurate statics and information and the dr failed to mention that if I went to fusion after Cartiva a bone graft may likely be necessary. I chose a path that seemed more up front and realistic and whose only investment was my well being. ---- My first impression was good. Nice office and nice staff. When filling out the forms I noticed that amongst other charges listed, they charged $20 to get a copy of notes or films and $10 to get a prescription refilled. That didn't sit well with me. The Dr was very nice and took time answering my questions. I had brought in films from Cedars that were two years old. I asked if was going to take new films and he said no, that what I needed was evident. I have zero joint left in my big toe. He presented options for fusion or a newer option just on the market called Cartiva. He said he had been offered to be on the Cartiva panel but declined. He said the surgery and recovery time was less with Cartiva and that his patients success rate for the newer Cartiva procedure was 100% enthusiastically. He also said if it didn't work out that fusion would still be an option. I said it was a lot to think about and I asked him to reiterate the details so I could write this out to take with me. He said he'd email me the office notes. Great, right? (Upon leaving the office staff did not return my films and I had to make another trip to pick them up.) Not so great. Well I never did receive the office notes I was promised but I did a get a phone call a few days later saying I was scheduled for surgery. Whoah. You're assuming a lot and you didn't even have new films to diagnose me! Put the breaks on. That was a huge turn off. I had never made a decision and now you're pushing me into surgery? Going on the numerous online boards for Cartiva was shocking given his 100% testimony. 65% to 95% of the people regretted ever doing it and were in more pain. Also, when it fails and you need to get a fusion you need to do a bone graft because you lose so much bone from the Cartiva procedure. None of this was explained to me! The Dr made the Cartiva procedure look like a sure thing with his 100% success rate and with no negative effects for future fusion if needed down the road. I went to another dr who is beginning with several non-surgical treatments. His advice to me was "if a Dr says any procedure is 100% success rate, run the other way." I've gotten three ingrown toenails removed in my life, the third one with Daniel Geller. I dreaded these operations based on how terrible my first one was, but after getting it done with Dr. Geller I am amazed at how painless the procedure can be. Previous times have been painful during the operation and then I was unable to walk for a few days afterwards. With Dr. Geller I didn't feel a thing the entire operation and was able to walk without any pain later in the afternoon the same day. Even after the numbing wore off I didn't take any pain killers at all and my toe just felt amazing. I'm kind of still in disbelief on how painless it was and how quickly it healed. No question in my mind where I'll go if I ever get one of these again. I did have a minor issue with them double billing me, but after calling they immediately resolved it. I had a bunion on my right foot (base of big toe) for over 30 years. It was only occasionally bothersome, so I tried to ignore it, but as I've maintained and recently increased my activity level through the years, that changed. Being a surgeon myself, I recognize how daunting and uncomfortable it is to be on the other side of the healthcare delivery system - as a patient. So I took my time. I asked around, but none of my physician colleagues are orthopedic surgeons. So I consulted Yelp, and found Dr. Dan Geller as he has a string of very laudatory reviews. I checked him out a few other ways as well, then made an appointment. Did I mention that I'm a chicken, more than a bit anxious about the prospect of having surgery myself? In med school and residency they teach you about all the stuff that can go wrong... (gulp!) It helped immensely that his office is geographically close to mine. His staff is warm, friendly, understanding, compassionate; and he practices a brand of medicine similar to my own style, which is patient-centered. He is gentle, skilled, and a consummate professional. I felt comfortable with him, which is a huge first step. It is understandable that to a pro like Dr. Geller, bunion surgery is a routine process, very predictable, very straight-forward. But ... not to me, having never had any foot surgery before! Privately I was a bit of a basket case up until the IV sedation started to work its magic. Then I woke up and it was behind me; I felt immense relief (my foot was still attached to my leg, woohoo!). The healing and recovery process was uneventful, fairly quick. I returned to full activities within a week or two of care. I now hike, jog, ride my bike, even run in the sand without any hint of discomfort. And I don't have to buy extra bulbous shoes to fit over the bony irregularity anymore. Though I must say, if you need them , Merrill's are really comfy :-). I'm about 10 months out from treatment, having no issues whatsoever.
