Mr. Thien is an excellent AP calculus and AP physics tutor, and Mr. Tu is amazing at Algebra and Geometry. My daughter loves Ms. Bri for her friendliness and ability to make Chemistry fun to learn. The owners, Ms. Jeani and Mr. Danny, are very professional, accommodating, responsive, and super helpful . They always try their best to help find a tutor that best fits a student's needs. That's why we started out with just one kid doing tutoring but ended up enrolling all 3 after seeing the amazing results. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality tutoring center.

Very flexible schedule and willingness to accommodate for busy parents.

Since…read morethen, Ms. Jae, who was already part of the teaching staff, has taken over as director, and I feel it is only fair that I come back and update my review. The change in leadership has made a tremendous difference. Ms. Jae, together with dedicated longtime teachers such as Ms. Natalie and Ms. Helene, has really helped turn the school around and brought much-needed positive changes to TLC. It is especially nice to see the school being led by someone who already knows the children, teachers, families, and culture of the school. The teachers were always what made TLC special for us, and now it is wonderful to see the leadership moving in the same positive direction. Although our daughter has moved on, we still have very fond memories of her three years there and of the teachers who helped her become the student she is today. I'm very happy to be able to update my original review and say that the concerns I previously expressed about management no longer reflect my impression of TLC today. A heartfelt thank-you to Ms. Jae, Ms. Natalie, Ms. Helene, and all of the teachers and staff who have worked so hard to make TLC a better place for its children and families.

Under the nurturing care of Ms. Natalie, Ms. Helen, and Ms. Katherine our son grew in ways we could have never imagined. Each of them played such a meaningful role in his development emotionally and socially. They were patient, gentle, and attentive to his needs, helping him build confidence, independence, and curiosity. Because of their dedication, he transitioned to public school feeling prepared, supported, and excited for the next chapter. We will always be thankful for everything these amazing teachers poured into him. So I've been volunteering as a mentor for Project Motivate (PM) for almost a year and I'm so glad I…read morefound them through VolunteerMatch! Project Motivate is the first Vietnamese-American mentoring program of its kind . You are paired up with a Vietnamese youth (of the same gender for the school year) and the program has a set schedule of meeting every Wednesday night from 6pm-9pm (that was the schedule for this year) where mentor and mentee all meet in a classroom . I drive every Wednesday evening from my house in LA to Huntington Beach to tutor my mentee. Because that's how I strongly I believe in what they do. My mentee is such a sweetheart, she's very inquisitive and loves to read as much as I do. So naturally we connect immediately. Even though when she first joined the program she was very very shy and refuses to even make direct eye contact when talking - seeing how she had grown in the past year to finding her own voice and gradually being comfortable in her own skin has been extremely rewarding for me. Naturally, being a mentor is something that one has to not only want to do but also has to have the time for , I'm blessed that I'm at a point in my life now where I can give back in this way. To give you an idea of who the other mentors are in the program with me this year: there are couple attorneys, a couple bio-engineers, a couple of social workers, a research analyst, a couple film makers , and a handful of college students who have all come together to volunteer our time once a week. The program also arranges activities for mentors and mentees to do on one Saturday every month. By the way this may sound funny, but please don't feel like you have to be Vietnamese (or even Asian) to be a part of this organization we have volunteers in the program who aren't! If you have heard of this organization or came across it somehow and is debating on weather to be a part of it - feel free to ask me any questions! You may change a child's life! Cheers!

After years of experience and having to move my children from school to school because of work-life…read morebalance, I feel with deep confidence this was one of the best elementary schools my children attended. Special Thanks: - Dr. Gary Gerstner and prior principal - Ms. Zachach (pardon the misspelling) - IEP staff - Speech therapist - Dolly Chatterton - Lilia (a name similar to Lily) - Parent/Community Advisory Committee - Parents in action Let me give you some context to compare amongst the other reviewers vs my review as a parent. When my children attended this school, I was a single parent, attending UCI as an engineering student, with a child in the IEP program, and having to manage my children's mother who was later found neglectful by CPS. All of this while working at Disney in customer service and born into poverty. Therefore, I had minimal chances to succeed as a parent, let alone the patience for all the possible mistakes I might encounter from being inexperienced. The Community: The people here are great and the kids are decently behaved. There might be a conflict between children every now and then but they do resolve it. The Parents In Action (PIA) cares about making a difference in the children's involvement with school activities. I've never attended a PTA meeting, sorry. The Staff: I don't like to generalize but they were awesome. I especially recall Dolly and Lilia (similar name to Lily). I put Dr Gary Gerstner and possibly the staff through some stuff with CPA getting involved, like the conflicts between the mother and I. In the end, I wish they knew it saved my children's life. Parent/Community Advisory Committee: The Advisory Committee is another level. I recommend attending if you're a parent looking for advance information regarding how to make the best of your interaction with the school system. For example, I asked what was the best way I can make the most out of the IEP meetings with advance resources. The person who answered my question was highly educated and very prepared. They taught me the steps on making a meaningful impact at each IEP meeting. IEP: The help in the beginning was profound. However, to make the changes necessary to improve as a parent for a child in the IEP, I had to be more involved. The specialists and teachers knew my limitations and made the best decisions available to them. The absolute best advice I received was from Ms. Zachach (pardon the misspelling), to make my child love reading and there is no limit to how much they should read.

As someone who went to the schools under this district, I can safely say that this is not a good…read moredistrict at all. Everyone in this district are the rudest people I've come across and it's no wonder why the students feel so miserable being there. They also treat asking questions and help like you'd ask the dumbest question possible and expect you to know that right off the bat. They wondered why some people are afraid to ask and that is why. In short, they act like you're annoying them. They even require you to have community experience and get involved with school activities to get into college or universities but how can you even do that when everyone is immediately rude to you for just talking. When you are part in a school club, they all used and throw you under the bus once you graduate. You thought "isn't socializing with others and making friends an important part of life", whelp not in GGUSD schools apparently as all that does is make it worse for you. Especially in the students case where you get accused for following them even though you just want to socialize with them. You know just like how everyone else does. It's even worse if you special ed and/or have autism and as someone who is both of those (at least was special ed before), they do not care about those people at all and the district would rather place you in the middle and expect you to figure everything out by yourself with absolutely zero guidance. They might as well tell you that you're not allowed to make friends unless you're with those friends since elementary school. Otherwise, every student will tell you "I don't know who you are". Even worse when it comes to picking a partner or get into groups because you will never be picked nor accepted. I've went to therapy regarding this and even though it is helpful, I guarantee you that all the methods I was taught will not work here or make it worse. The student are that closed off. I wouldn't even be surprised if they rigged test scores just to have certain students fail and even more so since common core is a thing. Even during the CAHSEE era, I was marked a 0 on the writing portions even though I did exactly as instructed. Though I did pass it the second time. You wondered how this even relate to your review you may ask? Well, it's because it relates to the students who falsely accuse me of following her and spread false rumors about me. One of the so called false rumors was me giving out her phone number (which I never did as I don't even know hers to begin with) that everyone instantly believed without a second thought. Here's what I think happened, I believe that someone made a fake/burner account with my name on it and did all of that just for people to blame me. My parents suggested we talk to the district about it but I was against that. If my high school was anything to go by, the district would 100% side with her and her friends because she was "a honor student and top 5 students who's praised by the whole school". I will get in trouble and told to "stay away from her" or worse, expelled from the district completely and I've seen this happened to other innocent people before. Apparently if you're nice and friendly person, you get punished for it. However, if you're rude, closed off and lie a lot, you get away with almost anything and even more so if you're really popular and have a lot of friends. Same applies to bullies where you can get in trouble for getting involved while the bullies are simply let go without any trouble. See my review on La Quinta regarding this as my stance hasn't changed much. If it wasn't obvious, this district really doesn't care about the mental health and the safety of the students here at all. Resulting in having an awful school life and tons of conflicts with parents thanks to their bad school experience. They seems to only care about higher test scores and being number one. One time, my mom wants to transfer my sister to McGarvin but they don't even respond to this transfers until the first day of school starts. Even then it's already far too late once she got a confirmation letter. What I'm trying to say is that they will force you to a school you don't want. Even worse if that school is lower ranking like Fitz and they wondered why their school year wasn't good. Normally, I would tell you to not recommend going to this district but depending on where you live, you're almost forced to attend the schools under GGUSD's belt. Looking back and seeing all the reviews here, seems like not much has changed since I left.

I have spent so much time there that I might be able to call it my second home. The principal, Mrs. Quynh Giao, is very passionate and determined in providing top-tier, high-quality educational resources for a variety of subjects. She really cares for each and every one of the her enrolled students and ensures that everyone is being their academic best. Furthermore, all the tutors that I have worked with at A Plus are very kind and are always willing to teach/answer questions. They make sure that their lessons are not only educational, but also fun and engaging. All in all, whenever I needed help with my challenging courses, from AP Chemistry to Precalculus, I always turned towards A Plus and was always satisfied with the result. With the far less expensive tuition at A Plus, combined with its A1 educational resources, it doesn't get better than this. You won't regret enrolling here. Thank you A Plus and Mrs. Quynh Giao for all the amazing academic wonders you have done for me and your students!
