The tutors make learning fun for the kids and they all seem to make an effort to get to know each child on a more personal level and cater to each child's learning needs. The students are expected to show their tutors their test scores, GPA, reports, etc so the tutors can keep track of each students' progress. The tutors also make every effort to talk to every parent as needed so us parents are kept in the loop of their kids' progress. Besides making sure the kids stay on top of all their class work and maintain their grades, The Homework Club also have the kids participate in several fun activities, such as drawings for prizes, skate night, field trips during the summer session, etc! We do have a unique viewpoint, because we have attended three centers. #1: Miss Vicki simply gives a level of customer service that we didn't receive at the other centers. Her communications are rapid fire, and it makes it so easy with my daughters complicated schedule. #2: Miss Vicki has carefully crafted extra reading, as well as extra writing samples that the children can complete after their Kumon is completed. To me this is really going the extra mile. #3: Miss Vicki's staff are polite and helpful. We have seen in the past staff not being very nice at times. Miss Vicki runs a tight ship . She LOVES all of her teachers: Ms. Sam and Ms. Tina. We noticed a huge improvement during the first couple of months after transferring her here from another pre-school. She barely knew her Alphabets at the time, but after only a few months, she was able to read a few simple words. Mrs. Lee, the principal, told us when we enrolled our daughter that she would be able to read and write by the time she finishes her Pre-K and honestly I was a little skeptical then. However, she was right! By the time our daughter graduated from Kindergarten, she was able to read at a 2nd grade level and pretty much done with her 1st grade math curriculum. Besides focusing on academia, the teachers and the principal gave their students many opportunities to play, do their arts and crafts, dance and perform on stage. Their tuition even included weekly Taekwondo lessons. The school also organized additional fun activities with outside vendors such as mobile petting zoo, field trips etc. All the kids got to perform on stage twice a year (at Christmas and graduation ceremony) and we enjoyed watching all of them so much. It was incredible to see how the little ones were able to learn and do so much more than we thought . Ms. Sam is the sweetest, most energetic and effective teacher we have ever known. She is definitely loved by all of her students. We are glad that we have decided to keep her there for her Kindergarten year as I was tempted to put her in a tuition-free public school. In our opinion, it was worth it to pay for the additional year due to the invaluable lessons and experiences the school offered. Now we wish this school offered higher grade levels so we can keep sending her there. This is a Christian-based school. Even though we are not Christians, we are glad that they teach the kids to be grateful, kind, loving and be aware of God's presence. They learn to be thankful to all the blessed things they have. They learn The Pledge of Allegiance and national anthems of the U.S. which are all great things to help building a child's ethical and moral values. Garden Grove 1st Preschool and Kindergarten has really exceeded our family's expectations. We truly can't thank the teachers, Mrs. Lee and the staffs enough! What a joyful and inspiring event to see performances and energy from the staff and families, everything felt so warm and community-centered. It was also a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Westminster School District and the amazing programs they offer. Turns out she just didn't want to listen to the teacher because she was mean to the kids and my daughter was scared of her. This changed when we switched to GG Montessori. She began being excited to go and would always have a bubbly happy smile as well as something nice to say about the day come pick-up time! Ms. Cecil had let us know that she took extra care to get our daughter to warm up over their first couple months together. We are so grateful to her for repairing the damage done by the other schools! We also saw tons of the worksheets where she was learning to write both numbers and letters and all of the fun craft activities that improved her dexterity. Our favorite was the little dance numbers and songs they put together about twice a year. Those were super adorable and fun for everyone!
