PSA has helped my child to learn how to write proper essays. They provided many materials to guide him through his writing journey. They also taught him about the dead words in the essays. Over the 18 weeks Oxford Prep course, his writing skills improved significantly. Looking for an academy with caring instructors who are interactively teaching kids rather than having them independently do workbooks for hours on end? Or a program that cares about the progress of each child rather than filling seats to make money? Well if you are...look elsewhere! The lady at the front desk will try to sell you on how popular their program is and persuade you to sign up quickly and pay in full that day to reserve your spot. The teachers here provide workbook packets and instruct your child to read the instructions on their own. My child wasn't clear on what to do so approached the Writing teacher, who proceeded to circle the instructions on the packet and send them back to their seat. WHAT? My other child said that the Math program was a waste of time and that they were doing review work that was already covered in school. On top of that, the staff is disorganized, over-book their program, and are unprofessional in the way they deal with children and address parents. The Oxford prep was very useful. 8 out of 10 kids in my daughter's prep group got in, most or all of them from the more competitive Lexington zone. And going to Oxford helped my daughter get in to an Ivy League University. Her group met twice a week and it was tough getting all the work done, but she was motivated and did complete the work packet every week. I think the first practice essay took days for her to write but in the end she was able to write a competent essay in 30 minutes. Even if she had not gotten in to Oxford I think the skills she learned in the Oxford prep were valuable to her in Junior and Senior High School. It was money well spent on a motivated kid. And she met a good group of kids in her prep class. read more

I wanted to post a glowing review about Perfect Score Academy because they really helped my son and his preparation for Oxford Academy. When he first began at PSA, his writing skills were less than par. In fact he was quite discouraged because he started out with F's from PSA. But after the 10-week program, he was able to bring his writing scored up to an A-. That being said, my son got into Oxford Academy and was only one of two kids from his school that got in. I'm not sure if he would have been as successful if we didn't sign him up for PSA. The teachers there were very caring and he was able to make a few friends in the short time that he was there. It definitely was difficult, a struggle, and there was a lot of homework, but in the end it really paid off. I would recommend PSA to anyone who is interested in going to Oxford Academy. read more

I am graduated now so I am writing this review. This academy is awful. It really is. First of all, the look of this place is dirty, old, and needs a lot of cleaning up. Everything is disorganized. The main lady in charge was nice to my parents, probably because she wanted me to go here and take their money. I didn't learn anything really. The teachers here are nice, but it's just homework help. It's really useless. Please save your money parents! Don't go to this academy! read more

I came to PSA hoping to raise my SAT score by at least 200 points within 5 weeks, but PSA helped my score go up almost 400 points and I scored in the 99th percentile nationally. They motivated me and because of their optimistic and exceptionally friendly teaching style, I was able to learn at a much faster pace. The tutoring center worked around my hectic schedule and made time to help me achieve above and beyond my goal. I have never benefitted so much from a tutor until I found this place. I attended the Summer 2017 SAT program and I have to say that I do not regret it at all! My PSAT average prior to attending the program was a 1300, and I ended up scoring a 1470 on the October 2017 SAT thanks to Perfect Score Academy. I like the teacher is kind and the environment is quiet and well-organized. However, the curriculum is not for my kid, and the worst part is the director, Mrs. Park. When I was signing up for one-month session, the director told me that I would make a decision after trying out a session. So did I. My son tried out here for one month, but I just don't think the curriculum is exactly not what I wanted. Then, I explained to her POLITELY the reason why I decided not to sign up for more sessions, like simply I don't think the curriculum is not helpful to my kid, but might proper to older kids. She went on about some excuses which were never related to the reason I gave her. Anyway, when I was about to close the conversation and say 'Thank you' and 'Bye', she abruptly said "Oh, I got busy" and hung up the phone while I was still talking to her. I was hesitating a bit to let my kid try more sessions, but thank to Mrs. Park for making my decision so so easy. I'll never come back to this tutor. read more
