I've met, mentored, trained, worked along side of, for and with amazing groups of individuals all encompassing this world of creatives. So this brings me to this...how did I not discover Jason's Kitchen until recently? Where has this Chef been and why has he not blown up bigger than he has?!?! Jason is actually a classmate of mine from my hometown in New Jersey. I've followed him lightly on social media platforms through his culinary journey from birth of his unfathomable determination and skill to break out on his own - a self taught Chef running a full service catering company. Encompassing Private and Personal dining experiences in the luxury of your private home or event space, Chef Jason brings not only his complete professionalism, but also a mind blowing culinary exploration of perfectly balanced ingredients that not only touch each of your five senses, but envokes a feeling of complete bliss. Each dish is thought out with culinary precision and executed beautifully. You can taste each ingredient as it rolls around your mouth and tongue. Balanced with the simplicity of what brought this dish to concept. This culinary journey his menu takes you on is unreal. I have never worked for or with a more talented Chef, who's personal energy is calm and humble, and confident not cocky. We had a dinner party to celebrate a birthday and a divorce with 9 close friends. Chef Jason, his Sous Chef June, and our lovely servers Karl and Cara really made this evening special. Everything flowed seamlessly. Any anxiety I had walked out the door as soon as this team went to work. It was a quiet calm and focused energy. They also didn't mind me being in the kitchen watching and tasting and asking a million questions. I can not recommend enough Jason's Kitchen for your next event. Exceptional! Thank you Chef Jason and Sous June. You blew our minds away!

My now-husband and I were searching for chefs to cater our small, intimate wedding of 13 people in our home. We found Jason on Yelp and from his first friendly email and sample menu, we knew it was a perfect fit. Thank you, Yelp! It is not hyperbole when I tell you that Jason's Kitchen is some of the best food you will ever eat. Jason and June are phenomenal chefs; to eat their Michelin Star-worthy food in your own home feels like a decadent privilege reserved for royalty. A few of our favorite dishes were the yellowtail crudo (to die for), tuna tartare (floated up to heaven), mini french onion soup bites (became reincarnated), burrata salad (was reborn), paella (lived a full other life), and rack of lamb with pesto sauce (found enlightenment). They worked with attentiveness, diligence, and grace, but what was most impressive was the down-to-earth, calm, and good-natured attitude throughout the night. The spectacular food AND their presence was truly an amazing addition to our day. Special shout-out to Jason for being a fellow Petty fan. The server, Marybeth, and the bartender, Anthony, carried the same good-natured, relaxed, and kind presence. Marybeth was gracious and friendly, and I swear my kitchen was cleaner at the end of the night than before. I only had a vacuum and small dustpan and brush on-hand and Marybeth used that little brush to clean everything because she didn't want to disturb us with too much noise with the vacuum. The small things! Anthony prepared copious amounts of cocktails with a smile and a good laugh throughout the day and evening. The drinks were as smooth as his pours and I am fairly certain every family member personally bonded with him in a way that I wouldn't be surprised if he is invited to another family wedding. Or a golf match. Overall, my husband and I agree that Jason's Kitchen was the best decision we made on that day, as well as deciding to spend our lives together. I'm now scheming other events we can have just to work with Jason's Kitchen again. 1 month wedding anniversary? And then again for our 2 months? Jason, we'll be in touch. In all seriousness, I would like to extend the most heartfelt thank you to this team. We are beyond grateful for your help to make our day the most special. When we were looking for a caterer for our wedding in the Prospect Park Picnic House, they told us we had to use one from their list of approved caterers. We spoke to ALL of them. We ended up going with Judy Marlow and her crew at Simply Divine and they were all amazing! She recognizes great people and keeps them on her crew. Andi our event manager was on point, responsive, and wonderful!! Our chefs, bartenders, and servers knew their business and even their sanitation staff were super friendly and happy for us. (We had to run by their station a few times in the evening, to make it to the basement and they were all smiles with us!) Our top 3 reasons we went with Simply Divine (because, reality): -Price. Who are we kidding. Weddings are crazy expensive but while Simply Divine was on the higher end of the spectrum, after the initial round of queries, Judith was willing to work with us on editing the menu and to help us make the choices which helped us get to a common ground. -Plating. At the price points wedding food costs, the food is usually decent but her kitchen has delicious food and her plating is really gorgeous and different and I WANTED them so much for our wedding. -She hires nice and competent people. All the kitchen crew we interacted with during our tasting were friendly and genuinely seemed happy to see us (every other tasting we did, we maybe got to meet 1 or 2 people who barely made eye contact with us and scurried away asap to leave us with the pitch person). There is just no substitute for nice people who get the job done on the big day. Your wedding day is ridiculously stressful in ways you'd never imagine. Having everyone there on your team, trying to help you have the best day ever, and who you feel are also totally happy for stranger you and your new spouse, that is priceless. I think the only downside I experienced, which is no fault of Simply Divine but I think is something some future brides might want to know, is specific to our venue, The Picnic House combined with how Judy runs the ship. When doing a max capacity, sit down dinner in the space, they need the stage/fireplace area for kitchen set up. Throughout the entire planning process, I had imagined that the kitchen would be set up on the opposite wall (between the pillars) and that we'd have that area for the sweetheart table and later evening events. When it came down to the actual logistics planning a few weeks before the wedding, what really needed to happen became clear. I expressed my disappointment and while Judy tried to think of other ways, she explained it just wasn't possible with our size party+ dance floor. I believe with her experience she knows it would have been intolerably cramped (it was already cramped enough how it worked out because we had so many people- so also, not her fault!) if I had forced the issue. That being said, looking at my pictures with the opposite end of the Picnic House being the focal point, I am disappointed with the background of every picture on that least architecturally interesting wall at the venue (which is 70% of my reception pictures, including pictures of the cake and cake cutting) and wish I had had enough time and forewarning to make or get myself together enough to create a new rental of a backdrop or something of visual interest that wasn't a brick wall or a seam in the plaster. Even now, months after the wedding, as we go through these photos, this is the only regret/wish I had done it differently feeling I have about our wedding.

If you are dismayed at the thought of dealing with the big kosher caterers, Judy will seem like a breath of fresh air. She runs a small shop, so your party is never treated like a forgotten cog in a giant chopped-liver factory. And your menu will not feel like something your guests have eaten a million times before. Simply Divine's food is creative, multicultural, beautifully presented, and across-the-board delicious. Working within the confines of kashrut, she comes up with menus that are modern but accessible. Judy's got tons of experience, and I always felt confident that she could handle anything. (A cocktail hour on a strange roof was no problem; a major food allergy was taken seriously; oddball props were handled with aplomb.) She's unpretentious and easy to talk to, and her staff is stellar. Simply Divine is not cheap, but I found the price to be competitive with the big boys, and a better value for the quality.

From the beginning of the process, Scott was responsive and worked with our schedule for the tasting. We were able to make a selection from many dishes and after trying their food we were sold! Especially the NY strip steak with bleu cheese! We received so many compliments on the food and many of our guests even went to compliment the kitchen team themselves! The Balinese chicken turned out to be my favorite, but they were all amazing! They made way more than enough food for everyone and brought containers for our guest and us to take the leftovers home. We love not wasting food! With our budget, we were thinking we could only get a decent caterer, but we lucked out with LDV. They are without a doubt one of the best in the business! They catered to our needs and even made suggestions on how to reduce cost. In our case we brought our own drinks for their bartender to serve, which helped reduce cost. This turned out amazing and our bartender, Mark, helped make it a smooth and tipsy night for our guests! Last but not the least, their service was top-notch. They helped with the buffet so people there would be no crowd and made sure everyone got their food in a timely manner and even made plates for my husband and I so we didn't need to take the time! We were ecstatic with the service and it was one of the smoothest parts of the entire wedding. 5-stars all-around.

Here's why we jumped at the chance to work with Scott and team: - no problem or request was too much - every email or phone call was returned - they kept every commitment: timing, cost, and of course, the food. Now let's get to the food. Word one: abundance. So much variety, all fresh, some surprises (gourmet jerky with a perfect French mustard) perfectly displayed despite the limitations of the space. The passed hors doevres were prepared on site and were delicious, beautifully served, and ample. For reference, this was a wedding cocktail reception for 30 people, Mid day, I would absolutely hire Scott and LDV for a similar event and I would not hesitate to have a full dinner catered under his watchful eye. Note: Scott's staff were professional, poised, and friendly.
