I used Butterfield catering for my daughter's 2nd birthday party. I ordered the sandwich buffet package, Mediterranean platters, as well as fruit platters. The platters were displayed beautifully and the food was excellent! People seemed to particularly enjoy the smoked salmon and turkey brie sandwiches as well as the salads which included the cauliflower gemelli pasta salad, caesar salad, and citrus mixed greens salad. Many of my guests asked me where I had ordered from since they liked the food so much. Not exactly cheap but reasonably priced compared to other sandwich catering places in the city and the quality and quantity of the food was even better than I expected. I had a really great experience with Butterfield after they helped us cater our first Thanksgiving in NYC. After I faxed them a copy of the order, they e-mailed me back within 24 hours to confirm both the price and everything in our order. The highlights were definitely their cranberry sauce with orange zest, praline sweet potatoes, and the country corn bread. The pies were also incredibly delicious, with the pecan pie being an absolute favorite. The price was not terrible either. I know that we will be eating this food for days. read more

My mother had Butterfield cater her holiday party this year. She ordered 4 pounds of spinach, however, that is not what she got. 3 out of the 4 containers were not full and below a pound. When she called, they did not offer to fix their mistake! She paid top dollar and did not receive what she paid for. Not good customer service. The food was okay, definitely not worth the price. I like this little place. The muffins a tasty (just leave the carrot cream cheese all for me! They are delicious!) The have lots of healthy options in a somewhat lunch desert location. I've worked with this caterer on two occassions, both times I felt the service was unsatisfactory. The first time, they were providing some trays for a reception at an upper east side venue. We were referred to them by the venue. I called and spoke to Lorrie and requested a propsal that didnt arrive. After a week I called them and they re-sent it. The food was okay, a bit expensive for what was provided. No follow up. The second time I spoke to Joelle, who promised a proposal that a month later still hadnt arrived. My friend had Butterfield cater her daughter's pre-wedding party, and it was terrific. The hors d'oeuvres were wonderful; I love risotto and I couldn't get enough of something with risotto and truffles in it; I am allergic to garlic, and the waiter was very quick to check with the chef what I could and couldn't eat. There was also a buffet with filet and platters of grilled vegetables and sliced tomatoes with basil and cheese - it was so simple, and so delicious; there was also a mushroom sauce that was perfect. Amazing!! Butterfield Catering is fantastic!! They helped me out this past Thursday, when I had a last minute event at work that needed to have some food at. Literally emailed them at midnight, hoping they could help me out with a small order for a cheese plate and sparkling water drop off for 5:30pm. I received an email from Liana at Butterfield at 6:30am that they could help me out with drop off service and to call ASAP. The whole experience from start to finish was great. They have an extensive delicious menu, the prices are completely reasonable, the quality of food is fantastic and service was outstanding. Liana was prompt in putting in the order and processing it quick to ensure I received it that evening. Super sweet and great at her job. The food arrived on time, the presentation was beautiful (the cheeses were labeled - love that), the food was fresh and top quality. Bottled sparkling water with ice and cups. We were in New York for Thanksgiving staying at a friend's empty apartment. Our kids and grandkids were visiting from California. A restaurant seemed a poor choice for our dinner, so I ordered the deluxe feast for 6 that included soup, salad, roast turkey, gravy, sweet and mashed potatoes, green beans, biscuits, and pie. Having ordered from Butterfield every hoilday season, we were very disappointed to encounter such problems when placing a simple order. Very disappointing experience. The Markey Maqnager"of the day" simply wanted to pass responsibilty for her mistakes to the catering department, while the catering employees claimed they did not have items that we order evrey year and that were clearly on the menu, It's a pity, Butterfield is not at all what it used to be. read more

Butterfield catered my Birthday dinner and my guests raved about the food and the presentation. The Steak Tagliata was tender and the rosemary and peppercorn gave it a nice flavor. The Mediterranean Yogurt Chicken Kabobs were delicious and the grilled vegetables as well. I had food allergy people and they absolutely loved the Red Quinoa salad. Lorrie and the chef were very accommodating, preparing dishes that were Gluten Free, Vegan etc. switching from soy sauce to tamari and they were all tasty. The Cookie platter was yummy too. 5 Star quality and service. I have been ordering from Butterfield for years, for various events. I have since moved to Brooklyn and celebrated my wedding at home. There was no doubt, I was going to bring a little bit of the UES to Brooklyn and introduce my friends and neighbors to the most amazing food. EVERYONE at the party loved it. I ordered for 85 people and ALL the baskets were gone by the end of the night except some grilled peppers which we are going to use for tonight's dinner. The food was amazing. I order various types of baskets including the High Tea, Asian, Indian, Caribbean and Celebration. I supplemented with spanikopita, and mini macs. There was something for everyone. I ended up making my own pigs in a blanket because I thought their price was too high and my Mom made a dip. It is a pleasure to write this review of Butterfield Catering. We are transplanted Texans living in NYC for 3 years and needed to have a Thanksgiving Dinner catered this year. Butterfield Catering far surpassed my expectations! I ordered sliced turkey breast, sweet potatoes w/praline, green beans w/mushrooms, brussels sprouts w/pancetta, vegan turkey roll w/gravy, homemade cranberry sauce and homemade turkey gravy. There was not one food that was not perfectly cooked and delicious, even after re-heating. The staff of Butterfield Catering could not have been more helpful, responsive and friendly and the delivery was on time and very convenient! I found Butterfield Catering in a web search and after reading about their foods and newest Zagat review, took a chance. I only wish now that I had known about them for the last three years!!
