Dive bar Review #1. Those who think they know me would believe I'm more into froufrou bars for Girls' Night Out. But welcome to my "darker" side. Literally. As dive bars do tend to be dim, wood-paneled, utilitarian. No surprises here. The virtues of so-called dive bars is you come in as yourself, order a fairly-priced drink to nurse at the bar incognito all the while catching MNF. This is cave time at its' finest. No pretense whatsoever. I came here for a birthday party, so the vibe was more high energy, lots of laughter, laid-back people and good classic tunes from a modern jukebox. Age demographic tonight is 40+, RB locals, predom white males and varying degrees of blondes (including fake blondes such as myself! Lol). Best bartenders here! My drink of choice tonight, Lemon Drop Martini with a delightful sugar rim. Yum! No frills here but very chill. No dive bar is complete without a pool table of course. No food is served here but for parties, you can order from outside. Small parking area to the side. Like their motto says, "Come in as strangers, leave as friends." Accomplished. This is what Bac Street embodies and that's Redondo Beach for you!

    Definitely a dive bar!

Solid neighborhood dive bar that I'm sure I'll be back to a lot since I live a really easy walk away. Interior was about as divey as you can get and 80s rock was blasting the whole time we were there, so I felt right at home haha ;) there's a pool table and darts, and an AMI jukebox that I used to buy songs from my phones. Cheap drinks, friendly bartender, great music, and it's close by. I'm definitely coming back!

    Fun times!

I love this bar its the greatest dive bar ever. The bartenders are busy but quick and are so friendly they treat everybody with respect they're cute they're fun and are the best. I think everybody that's a local should come here and at least have a beer and play a game of pool and make a new friend. Like they say, walk in a stranger, leave a friend.

Perfect end to another perfect day ;-)

Local dive bar. I used to come here almost every night. At every bar: I check up on KTLA channel 5 and ESPN. You get the best info out back. No business inside!!! Drinking and Dancing is required if you wanna roll with me. 0125 08/08/2015 Update: Just discovered that they treat the most of the brown folks like shit here, especially when you tell the truth. This place is a bust now. Join me tomorrow at the Lighthouse on Hermosa Beach Pier. I'll be singing a song with the band. Show starts at 9. Hope to see you there !!!

Party at da BAC Street !!!

Waiters kept checking on us. Got the mild Buffalo Wings for $14 and Parmesan Fries for $6. The wings were good. The Parmesan Fries were really good, they didn't skimped on the Parmesan. Both dishes were small and came with ranch sauce. Got place to watch the games with friends. Not the place to have a conversation. The interior is neat and clean. There are various types of seating (bar; table; booth; high-tops; communal), and plenty of screens to watch sports. On this occasion, I ordered the Tavern Fish & Chips ($22). It is described as "Alaskan cod coated in a tempura beer batter and served with French fries, tartar sauce and yuzu herb coleslaw". The positives of this dish are that it was prepared well. Both the fish and chips tasted good. The presentation was also nice; which leads to the coleslaw: The coleslaw tasted good, too; but I was surprised the serving was so spare. It's almost as if it was served just to optically balance the presentation in the basket. (See photo shared,) And while the price was not unreasonable, feel it's creeping towards expensive (relative to serving size). I'll attribute this to rising input costs. Staffing might be an issue during the lunchtime service. Service was okay, but they seemed to be understaffed. It's possible that most of their business is done after 5pm.

We'd been to R&B last year and enjoyed it so much we agreed to meet there again. The parking lots was packed but surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't very crowded and we didn't have to wait at all. After skimming over the menu, I decided to try the chicken pot pie. Our server said it was a fairly new item and it was delicious. I took her at her word and was extremely happy with my selection. The crust was very unique in that it looked more like a fruit pie rather than a pot pie. I'm pleased to report the crust was delightfully flaky and buttery. It enveloped a generous portion of shredded rather than diced chicken and the blend of fillings hit the spot. My wife had the tuna nachos which were also wonderful but a bit lacking in portion size. Not being in the mood for alcohol, I ordered one of their "dirty" sodas which tasted very much like an orange 50/50 ice cream bar. The server was very sweet and extremely helpful. If the restaurant was a little closer to home, we'd probably frequent it more often but it definitely is a great choice if you happen to be in the south Torrance/Redondo Beach area. Looking forward to my next visit.

We usually go to Fox and Hounds, but didn't have enough time to make the drive. I did a little research and realized there was a City supporters group meeting at The Slip Bar & Eatery, so we decided to check it out. Nothing beats the fresh ocean breeze, a brew, and football . We were the first ones there and were a bit concerned the doors weren't open yet, but the friendly hostess reassured us they'd be opening shortly. While we waited, City supporters started rolling in--and to my friend's delight, Arsenal fans showed up too, which made for an even better atmosphere. Once they opened, we were greeted warmly by the owner himself. We grabbed great seats right in front of the big screen, and from there everything just got better. The service was excellent, the owner and hostess kept checking in to make sure we were good the entire time. Drinks were on point too. We enjoyed a delicious Irish Coffee, a refreshing Moscow Mule, and some ice-cold beers. The ambiance was electric, everyone locked into the match, and every time City scored, the whole bar erupted. All in all, it was an awesome experience. Honestly, I'm even considering joining the City supporters group after this. I'll definitely be coming back to watch more Man City games here and to enjoy the ocean view from the open windows. I believe that Holiday's matter, not as days that drive chocolate and flower sales, but as…read morereminders that whimsy should be celebrated to make life a bit more colorful and joyous. Scrooge might say "Bah! Humbug!" to festivities but, in other hand, say "hab gubmuh" to the days and seasons that bring mirth, hanging streamers and disco balls into our life, lest these be left in grayscale. That is why I was attracted to this bar because I wanted to know be drenched in red and pink glamour while all the way celebrating that very special feeling of love. As, soon I entered the door and saw the exaggerated decorations on the roof and on the walls, my immediate thought was "fun," not corny, or please with these hanging hearts and neon lights. Thus this place owns the trip to love land without apology, and I for one, say that this means that the festive goal hoped for hit heart center. I also went relatively early, in terms of bar crowd hours, and was surprised that the place was full to its arteries. Truth be told, that is why, I ticked one star of my overall rating because this place is cute and a vibe, and a worthy scene, but it is also small and packed to the point where folks are proverbial sardines in a tin can. But more on that later, right now, we start with what gave me anchor in place: their pool table. There is no place to sit, amidst the crowd, I automatically assessed. Where can I be to find my place? So I went to the table and played pool. I appreciated that the place had clearly articulated rules and procedures for play, which removed ambiguity and created a climate of respect toward the game, which allows for pool games where appropriate and competitive game play reigns. I managed to order a drink on theme for the night: a Misty Kiss. It was the bartender's suggestion, after I asked for their sweetest cocktail. When she first suggested it, I thought she said minty kiss, and thus when she delivered the drink, I was expecting some kind of shamrock shade. But then I heard the appropriate pronunciation- misty, not minty. I wondered when a literal misty kiss would be appropriate and beautiful? Then I remember scanning a picture book of love pictures, and one was of a woman saying goodbye to her sailor as he shipped of to fight in a world war, and I realized that the sadness in her eyes as she said goodbye was a form of a misty kiss. I took my Misty Kiss and played a game of pool with a guy named Matt. He revealed that he played every day, which explained why I did not stand a chance against a daily player, balance in talent simply did not exist. It was hard to find a spot to place my drink, which tasted swell, and was on brand for the evening, and quite stiff! It was hard to find a seat or a spot for me to call my own. And it was for others as well. I saw people going to the bathroom and needing to allocate themselves in near hunches to avoid the sticks of pool. And out in the crowd, people were huddled on the floor, not sure where to be so they could feel like they had a space of their own and did not bump with others. But there was no way to avoid bumping into others, and it was a mission to find a spot. That is why when I saw a table for two open up, I did a mad dash to an empty chair, like a fool in love who rushes in. It is at the chair where I could not only see but stop and admire the paper roses of the place. As my pictures show, the place truly did not limit itself from embracing the spirit of Valentine's day. For instance, they had this wall of decorations, with hearts, orbs (white, red, pink) teddy bears, and so much more; it was a tapestry hung just right for the occasion. Of course, people wanted to use the wall as the backdrop but with so many people, this too, required a wait and navigate plan. I did help some folks out by taking their pictures.
