My LAWD this place is so good... the falafel, the baba ganoush, the hummus! I wish that I lived closer to be a regular customer. Of all the places I've eaten in Johnson City so far, this is by far the best. The food is amazing and fresh, the service is delightful and welcoming, just a great place. Other people have mentioned on here that the one criticism is the way the inside of the restaurant is set up, and I can concur with that, but it wouldn't stop me from coming here to eat. My favorites are the Shawarma platter or the Mixed Kabobs with hummus and tabouli as the sides (I eat low carb so I can't eat their fries, but I've heard they're amazing). I love the Turkish coffee and I've cheated and had a bite of their desserts and wow, are they delicious! Seriously, this is the first place I would bring anyone who was visiting the area and both my partner and I would eat here every day if we could! read more

Although the ancient city of Babylon lies in what is now Iraq, I would consider the cuisine served here more aligned with Lebanese style food. It's a great option to have in Johnson City, where ethnic food options are somewhat limited. Everyone in the group I was with were very pleased with everything ordered. I had the chicken tikka and it was very good, although I do prefer the Indian style tikka with Tandori and naan. I found that the appetizers were particularly good here though, you can't go wrong with any of them. Service was great. My only criticism really is the atmosphere - I think even by dimming the light a little bit and using a warmer lighting arrangement, the restaurant would be more relaxing and inviting. read more

Atmosphere: Dated restaurant Service: Waitress was complacent. Not very warm or inviting. Food: Went there for lunch. I had the shawarma with fries. Fries were prepackaged and soggy. The shawarma was definity not good. It had large pieces of fat in it. The meat flavorless, dry, and overcooked that I almost cracked a tooth. The bread was basically a hoagie roll that you buy at the store. Cost: The quality of the food didn't match up to the price. I love this place! They are kind to my husband and I everytime I go in. The service is great and the food is always good. You can definitely split a meal with an appetizer (the hummus is incredible.) And, ANNNNDDD, they can do almost anything gluten free. Frier never had gluten in it so you can have fries and chicken (which they batter with chickpea flour.) Plus on the weekend they have a gluten free shortbread cake! Celiacs rejoice! read more

This place does not even have what they advertise. Went in with a couple friends to smoke some hookah as advertised but they said they're working on it and do not serve it. This is an amazing, authentic, middle eastern restaurant that should not be missed. I haven't had anything I haven't liked yet - and I don't typically gravitate to this genre of food! The food is always very FRESH! I don't like eggplant, but the eggplant salad here is absolutely delicious. The pita & hummus, the falafel, the lentil soup - all amazing. The meat trio kabobs are probably my favorite main dish. The seasonings & flavors are traditional, yet have a unique flair. 5 stars based on the hummus alone. I can't buy the grocery store hummus anymore. I'm too spoiled on Babylon's. The entrees have been very good. One of my favorite things I got there was a side dish which the waitress told me was cole slaw but it didn't taste anything like any cole slaw I've ever had before. I don't like cole slaw, and I could eat this stuff all day. I think the dressing may have been yogurt based and it had some tasty onions in it. Portions are huge so bring your appetite or plan to take home a box. And order an extra portion of Hummus to go. You'll crave it later! read more

The food was mediocre.. Hummus was good but pita was rubbery like it had been microwaved. Only reasonably priced lunch were sandwiches, which were OK, except they needed tzatziki sauce, which they do not have. I wouldn't recommend and don't plan to go back. read more

Babylon is wonderful!! I have been many times over the last year and it is always good. The waitress is always friendly and very ready to suggest dishes for anyone who is not familiar with the menu. The hummus is homemade and tasty! You can sit inside or out on the patio in warm weather which is really nice. The lamb shank served with rice and vegetables is fantastic. The lamb literally falls off of the bone and you could eat the whole dish with a spoon! They have great Turkish coffee and tea and it is a good place to try the hookah pipe that is available in many flavors on the patio. It has a very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere and every time I go I leave with a to go box because I can never finish my plate! read more

Chicken cordon bleu was a piece of chicken breast with ameican cheese melted on top, cole slaw was lots and lots of mayo with very little cabbage. The only thing good was the French fries. We made two trips in one first and last. read more

I have eaten here several times and the food has been wonderful every time. French fries are available everywhere, so skip them and go with the rice, it is the best I've had. The meals are served with a flatbread, not the hoagie roll mentioned by the first reviewer. Don't miss Babylon! read more
