We met with Mindy, the lactation consultant, and Janice Martin, MD. We left the visit knowing this would be the place! Fast forward and now our little girl is 2 months old and I am still singing praises for Pediatric Care Specialist. Mindy was such a vital support for my family during the tough few weeks of attempting to breast feed. She even gave me her home phone number over the Christmas holiday-- who does that? So thankful for her help! We ended up switching to see one of their nurse practitioners, Megan McGown, because she saw us during our first visit and we fell in love! My experience with Dr. Lyda Pung was terrible. I saw her because I was having stabbing pain daily…read morein the region of my cervix and hadn't had a period in almost two years with no symptoms of menopause and no pregnancy. I had been seen at the ER, where they found a fibroid taking up about half of my uterus. She brushed off my concerns about the lack of periods and about the fibroid entirely and prescribed depo as a stab in the dark to try to manage the pain. It did control the pain but at my size I couldn't afford to gain the 30lbs it made me put on so I stopped it. She never suggested any follow-up imaging to see if the fibroid was stable and when I insisted on it, after I received the results I got a call from her office that it was stable in size. I had already compared the results, and the fibroid had in fact more than doubled in volume! I pointed this out and when the nurse called me back after talking to Dr. Pung, I was told they never received the original ultrasound. How could they say my fibroid was stable in size if they have no basis for comparison? They flat out lied to me. I wouldn't trust Lyda Pung as far as I could throw her.

I called and made an appointment for a pre-natal massage when I was in my 35th week. They only do them on Tues and Thurs, which makes it a little tough to fit into my schedule but I made it work. The massage therapist was absolutely amazing. Earlier in my pregnancy I had gotten a pre-natal massage from a fancy hotel spa and paid 3x the price, but this one blew that one out of the water. The therapist had very strong hands and worked out all the knots with ease. She certainly didn't treat my pregnant body like a delicate crystal figurine and really attacked all my muscles in an amazing way. This wasn't just the best pre-natal massage I've ever had, it might actually be the best massage I've had! They mentioned that some clients return even after baby is born, which I might be doing as well. 4 stars instead of 5 because of the location. There was construction going on in the store next door and a loud delivery of products at the hair supply store on the other side, both of which were a little distracting. I think it would be worth it for the owner of the studio to try to sound proof the massage room to help prevent that issue, but overall it was still a great experience. One thing I was curious about before I booked: they do not have a table with the hole cut out for your big baby belly. But the table and pillows they provide were very comfortable.
