I have come here for years , I like the doctor. He cares about your eye health. He has always helped me with contact and vision exams. This year I said maybe I'll order my glasses here also, usually I go to Costco. When I started to look the lady came over and asked if I needed help. I told her yes and she asked about my insurance. The young man that just did my vision payment brought her my insurance sheet she glanced and said you have "Spectera, that is not good insurance ". That just made me say to myself, okay can't get classes here. She continued to say my insurance is very bad, her words. I was looking at Oakley frames and she said your insurance will not cover Oakley, you have spectera. I told her I have had the same insurance for years and didn't know it was bad and I guess I am going back to Costco. I asked her are you sure my insurance is that bad. She said, yes, spectera does not cover many things. At Costco the guy said my insurance covers a lot of things why she would say it was bad he did not know. I will continue to go here for exam but will always go somewhere else to get glasses and contacts read more

Dr Babbington and his Assistant are kind, thorough and treat you correctly. This is really appreciated. We talked about eye Health and the Doctor is knowledgeable and makes you feel very comfortable. I would suggest him to anyone and if you pay out of Pocket as we did as our Insurance is there but hasn't been set up yet, it's wasn't expensive at all. The Office Manager Nick is thorough with Insurance (and we all know Insurance is complicated). He's really good on the phone and setting up appointments and answering questions. We plan to go in and get glasses once our Insurance is properly set up by Employer. Dr Babbington Senior is very part time and his Son is there all the time. He worked with his Dad growing up in the Practice then came in as a Doctor so he knows his stuff. I highly recommend them. My experience with Dr. David Babington was outstanding! He was extremely skillful and proficient throughout my eye exam, providing expert analysis and options that resulted in my perfect new eyeglasses - so great to see so clearly and sharply again. He was also very personable and a good listener. His Apple Tree Optical salon offered a tremendous selection of frames in different materials, sizes, colors and shapes - and I got the best frames I ever had within a few weeks. I have been seeing Dr's Babbington since I ran into Dr. B (dad) in the old Starbucks on Montgomery and Eubank while I was studying for the bar exam. My family and I had just relocated to NM from So Cal so the timing was great. Everyone in the office is kind and welcoming and they complete the full suite of eye tests. They make suggestions for different types of lenses and always give samples to try. Several times I haven't liked a sample and they are always happy to switch to something different. They have an extensive eyeglass collection with some of the latest and most stylish frames for the entire family. I recently relocated back to so cal but still came back for my annual eye exam. I highly recommend you check this office out if you need an eye exam, contacts or glasses. read more

If you think you need glasses you have to make an appointment here! This was my first experience with an eye doctor. I made an appointment because my vision was starting to get blurry. Dr. Babington was very patient with me and answered all my questions. He and his staff stayed after hours with me to help me pick out my glasses and make sure I could put in my contacts. I haven't ever actually had Dr Babington for an optometrist but I wanted to leave a review of an AMAZING experience that I just had with him. Our 18mo old daughter got some kind of foreign object in her right eye at a park on a Saturday. We don't know what it was or how it happened, but it was something severe and very painful. She was inconsolable and was in significant pain for several hours. She also refused to open her right eye at all for nearly 8hrs. We took her to after hours urgent care and they diagnosed her with a minor corneal abrasion and prescribed antibiotic drops. My wife and I were quite scared and and extremely stressed that her cornea was damaged and we really wanted the opinion of an eye specialist to make sure that there was nothing else we could do. The only after hours emergency eye care that we could find in all of Abq and Rio Rancho was Dr Babington. So I called the after hours emergency number at about 9pm that night (again, this is on a _Saturday_) and there wasn't an immediate answer but I left a voicemail describing the situation. I will be honest, I did not expect to ever get a call back. But to our absolute astonishment we got a call back within 15min and it was Dr Babington himself (yeah, really) and he actually apologized for not immediately answering when I first called because he didn't hear the phone ring - say what?? (A doctor who I never met and has no idea who I am is apologizing for not answering a random call on a Saturday night at 9pm?? Really? Haha. Crazy cool!! Who is this guy???) Anyway, he asked a lot of questions about the injury and gave us a lot of awesome feedback and really put both myself and my wife at ease and we were no longer stressed about our daughter. He even offered to go to his office that night and examine her (yeah, really) but he didn't think it was really necessary (and I agreed after he explained more about the eye and what the injury was). We are so impressed with Dr Babington that my wife and I are kind of speechless about this guy. He is seriously too awesome. Thank you so much for helping us Dr. Babington!!!!!! Our daughter is doing much better now. While Dr Babington is not currently our optometrist my wife and I are going to look into changing that in the very near future!! read more

Both docs are good. My husband prefers Babington senior, while I'm just fine with junior. They do the full array of tests and are more than willing to work with more complicated vision corrections, such as getting each eye focused for a different distance, working with the various new contact lenses, and trying to get each patient the vision correction they want. I've never run into an attitude problem with the front staff; they don't take my insurance but that isn't their problem, and they have always been helpful to me. read more

So I'm not sure what the deal is with our kids and them getting horrible things in their eyes but they certainly seem to have a knack for it! This time it was our son, a few years back it was our daughter. We also left a review for Dr. Babington back when he helped us with our daughter. And this time he helped us again with our son. My husband and I really have no words to described how awesome this man is. This time our 7yr old son got a spec of metal embedded in his cornea - how??? Not only that but it had been in there so long that it had started to rust?? Say what??? What is it with our kids and their eyes? Seriously, someone please tell me! Immediately after I noticed this weird spot on my son's eye we took him to urgent care - they were unable to help him. They referred us to an eye specialist. I immediately thought of Dr. Babington as he had helped us with our daughter way back when. So I called him. He immediately answered his phone. He said he would meet us at his clinic within the hour. I feel it's worth mentioning that this was on a Friday at 8pm. Yeah, really. I truly believe you can't understand this man's love for his job, his dedication, or his utmost care for his patient's until you experience it first hand. Please name another doctor that answers their personal cell and meets with patients at 8pm on a Friday and then greets you with nothing but smiles. This man is a gem. Needless to say he took care of the problem with my son's eye and he's all better now. And I just want to make one thing clear, we are not related to Dr. Babington in any way. We're not close personal friends (although we'd love to be!), we don't hang out together, nothing like that. Our kids are just ordinary patients that he had only seen once before a few years ago. Yet he treated us like we're family. What doctor runs medical practices like that any more?? If you're looking for an eye care specialist look no further - you'll never find anyone better.
