Loved the whole experience. At the start I was a little skeptical as the initial process seemed a bit different than I had with larger chain rental companies. After I got through that I ask to inspect the vehicles and immediately they kicked in with better than 5* customer service. They let us rent a car with a small underaged fee. they delivered the car to us at the perfect time and also made it easy so we can drop off the car at the airport right before our flight. Don't be afraid of renting your vehicle from Baba Rentals. They are reputable with great customer service second to none (they prefer text). The cars are not current models but neither is the price. Mine was a compact 2009 Nissan Versa with about 95,000 miles on the odometer. It was very clean, and in great mechanical condition. I could not justify paying 2-3 times the amount of money and only drive 705 miles (my actual mileage) in a month. If you are arriving at the Honolulu Airport, the pickup is a little strange since Baba Rentals is located in Ewa Beach about 20 miles away. I took a Lyft there and back for $37 each way. You will pick up your vehicle in a shopping mall in front of Safeway. Look over the vehicle and send your payment to them (I used Zelle) and you drive off. It's that easy. You return the vehicle to the same location with a clean interior, a full tank of gas, and lock the key inside the car. There is a convenient gas station in the mall. There is a $60 refundable deposit which I received back via Zelle, in a few seconds after putting in the request. I will use Baba Rentals again without hesitation. read more

We came to Oahu for a month and really wanted to explore the entire island. Renting a car from corporate companies was way out of our budget, so we sort of put up with the fact that we won't be able to visit lots of places until we discovered Baba. In the beginning we were pretty unsure about it because of the cheap prices but we were so wrong. The cars at Baba are old but gold. We got a Nissan Versa (2008-2009), and the car was spotless clean, without any mechanical issues, and drove us anywhere we wanted without problems. The Baba team is great at communicating, these guys reply to your messages really quickly and explain all the details. Pick up and drop off was from a public parking lot which was quick and easy. These guys were great and helped my family and I transition to the island from our previous duty station. I was looking for a great deal rather than a fancy car and this fits the bill. Their cars are clean and in good condition but later models. At the price tag they offered compared to other places I checked, it was the best option out there. We rented a small 4-door hatchback Nissan Versa and it whipped the wife and kids around the island no problem. It was clean inside, AC was bumpin' and overall felt like a mechanically reliable vehicle. My car was delayed in arriving and they were able to extend me short notice which I appreciated. I was alittle leery about a company that did all its business over the phone or via text message. But reading all the 5 star reviews changed that. Totally friendly professional and patient! I was looking for a long term rental deal for renting a car long term but worried about being nickled and dimed to death and not saving anything. I enjoyed being offered a flat price including all fees and knowing what I was going to pay was the final price. They do not guarantee the exact vehicle but rather the compact size which is typical for rental companies. You also must bring your own proof of insurance and make sure your insurance covers your during a rental. The cars were very clean and well maintained. I rented a vehicle for 6 months without a hiccup. One time my check engine light came on and I texted them after hours and they got back to me quickly. Julian was a pleasure to deal with! One thing I really liked was the reasonable amount he asks for a deposit to secure the car. Rented a compact from these guys after overpaying at the airport with the big companies. Wish I would've found them sooner. They only take reservations for long term rentals of 30 days or longer. Anything shorter is first come, first serve. If you're renting for a shorter period, I had luck by contacting them the day before to see if they thought they would have any openings and they did! My wife and I were visiting home in Wai'anae for the summer (currently living in AK). We needed a rental car for 2 months and wanted an alternative to the big-name rental companies at HNL airport. The daily rate his company offered was lower by far! Before renting, Julian (the owner) sent his contract for us to view by email - no obligation. We liked what he offered so we sent our deposit using PayPal to reserve the dates we needed. We met in Ewa (area I chose), looked over the agreement, signed it and my wife and I were on our way. As for the owner Julian, he is very professional. He even checked-in on us to see how things were going for us while we had the car (what company does that?!?!!) Very stand-up guy and contacting him throughout the transaction was very easy -- an email or a call/text. The car we got was clean, fuel-efficient (wish was a plus) and worked great!
